Hey everyone..i was one of the lucky to see this movie day it came out..so heres my review..if you're interested..its pretty short..but it gets the point across. Please note there are minor spoilers (NO MORE THAN THE TRAILERS) in this review so read on know that.
It all starts out with this kinda "In Search Of.." type tv show talking about this light of zartha thing (which is supposedly this story center pointe) and it says it holds the key to the zartha universe, and only it can destroy the planet..this whole tv show is done with the 25 cent graphics and cheap actors (made to look bad) and then the movie starts..same looking opening credits..and then..THERES J!!! This time with his new partner who he soon neuralizes (neuralizing is used alot in this thing) and he goes on about how all his partners havent worked since K (tommy lee jones) left and he had to neuralize them all..basically J is the top guy..what really bugged me was that this movie so closely mirrored the sequel..i will go on a little more into detail but there really isnt any point to. besides the "bringing back" or for those of u knowin the terms DENURALYZING K..the movies are exactly identical almost. You got the big bad alien dude that aint suppost to be here in this case the practices Lara Flynn Boyle who disquises herself to be a sexy victorias secret lingerie model and she tries to get this "light of zartha" thing away from the good guys..of course in the end it all turns out well..bad guys die good guys live..but anyway..there is your overview..
WHAT WORKED...
:p The movie definately has its funny parts..but sadly almost all the good lines and scenes are spoiled in the trailers which everybody had to atleast seen one of by now. This is an excellent way of getting people to pay the 6-8 bucks to get in but it really doesnt keep you entertained past then.
:p Frank the pug really put on a show, with great lines, great singing and the opportunity of being J's temp partner
:p J!! Another thing that totally worked in this movie was Will Smith and his part. All or most of his lines were good, he was the one that mostly made you laugh and he was the one that you knew the writers were focusing around.
:supwink: Besides frank singing his song (which got the biggest laugh of the night) i think the best part of the movie was when good old (and this was the cameo i was hoping they wouldnt take out) MICHAEL JACKSON came on the view screen as Agent M begging Zed (played by Rip Torn) to let him in the Miib..He was like dont you think i deserve it? He looked so hilarious..and that was the thing that saved you half-way through the movie.
WHAT DIDNT
:shocked: The main thing that i hated about this movie was its length. I read an interview that director Barry Sonnenfield said that he could make a 2.5 hour movie 1.5 just by the camera work..and well that was just part of his problem. The movie, credits and all last just under 87 minutes..making for an extremely short movie. It just starts getting good at the end...like alright we've killed serlena lets go get somebody else...but then he has to end it..There was no climax..no decent ending..infact (although im not going to spoil it) I didnt even get the ending..AT ALL! I think that barry new that this was going to happen because the cast did return to the set for a couple weeks of reshoots to add more time. I do have a little pitty for him though, because the ending "climax" part of the film involved the world trade centers directly and of course when they had already filmed it and got it ready..they had to be bombed..so obviously he had to totally take out the end. When you do that..the movie is definately doomed. Im sure when the deluxe edition of miib comes out itll be longer
:shocked: Secondly I didnt get these whole bad guys..they were all..well terrible. Laura was totally missed cast.yeah she was kinda hot but why not put somebody decent in there like i dunno..one of the chicks from the fast and the furios or Ashley Judd or somebody hot..Laura just didnt pull it off. Also i was expecting and looking forward to alot bigger and better part for the 2 headed Johnny Knoxville (from MTV'S Jackass)..His part was total crap and there was no need to have it in the film. Rip Torn had a few bad scenes..and there were just some well gross things they really didnt need to put in there..and i was like please just move the camera.

conclusion....
I admit i read the script for this thing about a year and a half ago..and i thought it was total crap..but then it just got better and better..and i have to say I got what i was expecting from the movie..i wasnt expecting a movie better or just as good..i was expecting a movie..i was expecting a sequel..not a bad sequel..just a sequel..I would kind of compare this to if anything Rush Hour 2..i mean Rush Hour 2 has a more original story line but uses all the jokes again..miib has the same story line but new jokes..so look at it kinda like that..the music sucks..no rap artists..except big will..the graphics were terrible..lucas still is hogging the "a team" of il&m so nobody is gonna get as good as he does..soo even though this is a marginal movie..due to the promotion it got it'll make a butt load of money in its 5 day opening..im guess ing anywhere from 80-100 million or so..i would be very suprised if it took in lower than 80..but who knows..it'll be big..giving the study pleanty of reason to ask the stars..when is mib 3??
