A DIVA WITH A BAD HAIR DAY
Some days I find myself
Up down and In-between
Up down and In-between
Jobs cities and air-line fairs
Jobs cities and endless stairs
I want so much to be alive
But people cut me up
They pace me down
Some days it seems I can’t be me
Some days it seems I can’t be me
I just want to open up
And scream, scream and scream and scream
Up down and In-between
It’s Up down and In-between
But then I have to put the make up on
Remember I’m the queen of town
I’ve climbed up here
I’ve gone out there
My guardians guide me to sit and stare
In-between ...... In-between ....... In-between
Up down and In-between
Up down and In-between
OK OK my face is on
OK OK I’ll write a song
OK OK I’ve turned the cell phone down
OK OK This tune is borderline
I’m sitting in my bathtub bare
Pretending I’m this other ‘Jo’
No ones out there, No ones home
All the words they have to rhyme
People remember them in measured thyme
I’ll poor the spices on my hair
Raise my eyebrows, They’ll think I care
WHOOPS
The cell phones ringing
My babe is crying
Some days it’s all that I can do
To turn the meat
And stir the stew
This song is bleeding
It can’t go on
Where’s my headphones
SLAMS THE DOOR
I’m Up down and In-between
Up down and In-between
Please cut the headlights
I’m a human being
Please dim the headlights
I need to cry
So this is the poem that says it all
That lands in my trash can
Canned and crumpled against my wall
I'll move on
And forget this fall
Somewhere a greener winter calls
Some days it seems the suns not right
The high-lights on my face, I have to fight
My toothpaste’s empty
My mouth is dry
I’m a human being
BANGS THE HEAD
It’s my turn to cry
I’m Up down and In-between
She’s Up down and In-between
I’m Up down and In-between
Your Up down and In-between
I’m Up down and In-between
We’re Up down and In-between
Everybody Now
Up down and In-between
Step it up and step it down
In-between and In-between

Somehow I can hear the Dixie Cups doing this crumpled version of a poem, ala the 'Earl of Syrup' label.
