first week predictions

Simple and Short Question: How high and how much do you think Shanias Album will place and sell during its first week on shelves?

#1 best ever they'll retire the song. and the album. it will be placed in the museum of natural history. where everyone can marvel at for generations to come, but probably not. But I figure it will be somewhere between the last two albums. the next I have a feeling will be phenominal. Just a feeling I get them sometimes

well i was more thinking on the lines of 350-450 thousand..but that is just hopefully thinking..hey id be happy if the album sold amillion in the first week! that'd be awesome!!!! isnt u2's greatest hits coming out the same week?

but if the album has sold in excess of 19 mill..and 5 percent of them buy it in the first week thats thats still like 950,000 copies

...that it would depend on how many people are still into her after all this time. While I don't think she'll set first week records, Shania has a history of proving doubters wrong.

My guess: 1 million first week, and continuous strong sales for many weeks.

I don't think 200,000 is out of reach. I think it's a very good prediction. 100,000 sold will be a modest number.

I think some of your figures are far too conservative. I think Shania's album will sell at least a million the first week it comes out.

Oh..and If my memory serves correctly...Faith's BREATHE sold over 200,000 in the first week....so Shania should top 200,000 EASILY.

I can only speak for UK sales and I think it will hit NO 1 first week and sell about 150,000 which would be good for us. From there it could go on stay in the top ten until way after Xmas and would probably sell over 200,000 in the week leading up to Xmas. Come on over was in the top ten for about eight months and was at number one about 4 separate times. That is the pop charts of course we don't really have separate charts for different types of music. The single when released will sell about 100,000 copies first week and hopefully go to no.1. The singles chart is a curious thing over here, as singles reach there highest position first week in, 99% of all singles go down the chart after the first week, and to have a number 1 you HAVE to do it first week.

Time will tell, but an interesting question.

Toby Keith has pre-release sales for his new album that is coming out soon of over 2 million. I would think Shania could do as well. The only difference is that Toby has been in the spotlight continuosly for a long time, while Shania has essentially gone into public hibernation.

2 million? are you sure? i mean that is very possible and likely that that figure is just the # shipped..which is still pretty decent. We will never know how much an album will sell unitl it does sell. Ex. Backstreet Boys (bad example i know) latest "Black & Blue" shipped 5 million Domestically, and sold 1.8 million..so that shows you that stores order a little more than double what they think they are going to sell. So on these figures id say toby keith wold sell 700-800 thousand..but im not sure..not to into country. shania i see shipping 3 million

I know Amazon.com is taking pre-oders for the new Dixie Chicks album, so there are ways of knowing pre-sales. I agree it does soumd pretty high.
