Hi there. Just want to give you heads-up. Shania is one of the starts featured in Country Weekly, 20 Aug issue. The article is entitled, "From Hard Times to High Times."

Is it just me....or do they do an article like that 5 times a year?? LOL

I do not know if "featured" is the right word!:p

They headline the piece on the front cover with a photo of Alan, Garth and George Strait and have 2 page spread on these turkeys and give Shania a tiny squib about her early days and have 3 pics of her we have seen many times (the piece on her is less than a half page with the 3 pics!)

It is the way CW treats Shania typically - like she is just one of 10 persons who made the pilgrimage from rags to riches and is no better than any of the others and is not worth front cover treatment or mention on the first 2 pages of the article.

The bias of CW stinks plain and simple.

Country Weekly only cares about Tim, Faith, George Strait, Tim, Faith, George Strait, Tim, Faith, George Strait... yeah, you get the point :) Just saying cause that's about the only three people you ever see on the cover!

CMT has a split personality when it comes to Shania and it's gotten so predictable, it's hilarious to watch.

Editorially, CMT obviously can't stand Shania and would like to mention her as little as possible in their magazine. (Sometimes I wonder if this isn't a little bit of jealously on how many more millions of CDs Shania sells than CMT's editorial favorites, some of which have been listed in this thread.)

But on the other hand, CMT knows how popular Shania is and since their bottom line is to make money and stay in business, we get these endless Shania retread stories that are obviously there to get Shania's legion of fans, particuarly those who aren't hard-core country music buffs, to buy their magazine.

I think the only time Shania's been on CMT's cover in the last two and a half years was in the spring of 2001 when CMT had a story about all the country couples expecting babies. Using Shania on the cover was such a transparent attempt to sell the magazine.

To paraphrase a cliche, CMT's attitude toward Shania is: Can't live with her, can't live without her.

Must be a Freudian slip, but I meant Country Music Weekly, not CMT in my post. They are sister media outlets and I guess what I meant about Country Music Weekly also applies to CMT.

I don't know CW, but as I read this and the other posts --> :furious: Are those CW guys living on the moon?

They also exagerate Faith Hill's story to make her sound poorer than Shania. Gimme a break. Shania never had time to be a cheerleader, or graduate at the head of her class.
