All of us, guys and gals, know how talented are the Shania's band members. Recently J.D. Blair was voted the Best Country Drummer! Which one is your most favorite Shania's band member and why?

I would have to say Roddy Chiong, who is being interviewed shortly for shania.org by the way http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif

He has so much energy and always looks like he is having a ball on stage.

I would like to say however, that all the band members are equally as talented in terms of musical ability and in their performance on stage. Dont want any of the band members to think I dont like them, especially as many of them are helping me out on material for shania.org :-)

I would have to say BB because lately I have been writing him quite a bit and he ALWAYS writes me back. Plus he is a great guitarist and has inspired me to keep the guitar up.

I THINK ALL THE BAND MEMBERS ARE GREAT! If I had to choose B.B. is "STILL THE ONE" This guy is the most down to earth and nicest human being you ever want to meet. I HOPE SO MUCH MILEY AND B.B. next ALBUM puts them on top. Marc is a VERY NICE GUY TOO and J.D. and Roddy and Hardy and Allison and Cory and Andy and Randall. That should do it. All of these folks makes a difference in this world.

PEACE OUT

Well, I rarely get into the issue of best or favorite. But I will make sort of an exception here.

Usually, I'm too detailed and logical to be able to sort out all the non logical factors that go into my reaction to people and events. Call me Mr Spock of Star Trek. So I just kind of throw my hands up, hopelessly lost in my mental meanderings. Also, I am genetically and culturally disposed more toward cooperation than competition.

The following is mostly from my many viewings of the Dallas live concert, in no particular order.

Roddy Chiongg. Plays fiddle, guitar, drums, and whatever you call them rattles. He's also perhaps the most positively spirited and energetic of the band members. Dances all over the place with emphatic arm, leg, head and hair motion. He also sweats the most noticeably, an attribute that Shania respects and likes, given her background for honest work. His website also seems to project talent for altruism and motivation, in directions compatible with Shania's Kid's Cafe and Second Harvest.

J. D. Blair. Plays drums. Gifted. Rock solid accompaniment without intrusiveness. 2 hrs on drums like that may take more energy/muscle than any other role.

Brent Barcus. Oh baby! This guy is probably the most talented guitarist of the band. Tho to read the bios of some others, any of several could be. And you guys say he's real down to earth to boot, in his email replies. Definitely a nominee for top all around spot in the band.

Cory Churko. A fellow Canadian with Shania. He plays fiddle, guitar and drums, among other things. His music bio makes me feel like I'm on the wrong planet due to my comparative underachievement. But that didn't stop me from emailing him. Might go thru his Moose Jaw home town on my way to climb the mountain in Alaska next year.

Mark Muller, from New Jersey, I think. Justin says he plays pedal steel. Whatever it's called, he does it sublimely. He also plays guitar, and maybe keyboard. His music bio also is intimidatingly great. Perhaps his most impressive credential: he was in Shania's earlier band and survived into the current one.

Andy Cichon. From Adelaide, Australia. What a show! Plays only bass guitar, I guess. But with a wowing muscular body, writhing to the music from head to toe, often seen as contrapuntal male in background, to Shania's femininity in the foreground. Coolest dance footwork in the band. Also sings bass (lowest voice) in most of harmonies. Sorry folks, but despite the incredible talent in so many other band members, for some reason, I resonate with this guy and Shania, and nominate him as one of top performers in the band. To see the two of them, each doing their thing at same time in the same TV camera lense makes me sweat.

Hardy Hemphill from Maine, I think. Listed as keyboards. He also plays accordian in key role for "Come On Over" song, and harmonica for others, and drums/cymbals in other songs. In my second grade in 1954, Sister Rosalie used accordian lessons to rescue me from the role of social outcast (stupid farmer boy), into socially acceptable and academically above average music student. Let's hear it for niche players who add something unique to make a great group better!!!

Allison Cornell, from California. Fiddle first and keyboard second. Only woman in the band. Only the second person to transit from Shania's previous band to current band, an accolade of no small proportion. Probably a very gifted harmony singer, among other things.

Randall Waller, from Sidney, Australia. Guitar. His dark hair and black leather make him seem kind of drug world scary. But he's so nice and considerate, and Shania cuddles up to him so pleasantly that you just know he has to be a great and trustworthy guy.

So there you have it. Who do you pick? Or what would you like to add or subtract?
