Here's a reply about the competition only being open to US/Canadian members - BTW, Rebecca replied to me twice (firstly about joining off-line) and used my name both times:

"Unfortunately, due to legalities, we are bound by law, as a United States based company, to only hold contests for the U.S. I understand that some members might feel slighted, however, please realize that there are conflicting laws that make a contest valid from country to country that simply prevent us from expanding our scope. I agree that it is unfortunate, however, at this time, our hands are tied"

I guess the only way to be fair to all fans given these circumstances is to knock off all the contests.

Bit drastic! A better way, IMHO, would be to have an agency for Europe which could organise the trips for non-US/Canadian members.

how would eliminating all contests be fair? Just because we live in the USA where the company is based, where the most money is I might add, that means we should do away with contests? Thats holding it against us just because we live here.

Yes she has fans in other parts of the world, but North America is where she is and where it is all based...nothing we can do about that.

Its unfortunate, yes, but what can we do? I like the contests, I joined, and I think we should keep these contests going!

Sorry, didn't mean to cause any offence. My thinking was based on the large fanbase Shania has in continental Europe. Sure, other fans need to be catered for. If the Fan Club is going to be for all Shania's fans then the organisers need to have a global view on commitment.
