Well, she looked great. Red & White Canada stocking cap, bright yellow jacket, black slacks with white slashes on the legs, and these enormous gray furry boots. Black gloves which she took off between numbers. Band looked frozen! LOL!!! For UP!, she made the whole stadium stand, and she and the band were jumping for the chorus of Up, Up, Up! Great job! :up:

That was cool! I enjoyed that preformance alot. If UP weren't flying on the shelfs in this town before tonight they will be now.:)

Ya I thought she was lip syncing! Kind of dissapointing! You could tell because inbetween when she spoke there was major echoing and no echoing at all when she sang!

I think she was singing live to the stadium crowd, but the TV audience heard the track. In a show like this, where so much can go wrong, it just makes sense to do it that way, so everybody finishes on time, and the broadcast goes smoothly.

Yes it was disappointing, but perhaps it was too cold for her throat to sing? Or maybe she's sick right now, it is cold/flu season and she's been promoting alot with little rest. I forgive her :) I know she's not lacking talent or integrity, so there was liekly a good reason for not singing live. :)

Of course she lip synched! I would have too! lol. I mean... come on.... how is the band supposed to play in that kind of weather? Did they have gloves on? You can't play the guitar with gloves on very well lol, or the keyboard even. It would be very hard to play an instrument in those kind of temperatures.:p

The Today Show is outside?? Im a little late for that :D Well maybe not.... There was so much people at the Grey Cip and the Today Show is samller so its easier to deal with the sound and everything... Maybe..... suppositions!

They didn't play with gloves on, the had nothing on their hands shania was the only one to wear gloves but she took them off for up. The news even said she was singing live and it wasn't synched.

Quite right. That echo that was heard when Shania was speaking, would have been heard throughout the performance. This is a football stadium, not a concert hall. It was set up for a game, not a show. You can't expect good sound, so you play the track, and the audience at home hears something good. I do think Shania was singing live to the track, but only to the stadium crowd. The Today show does these concerts a lot, so they have a good sound set-up. It's a whole different thing. It will be warmer, and the show will be set up for a performance, not a game. Last time, Shania sang live. I would be surprised if she didn't this time.

Ah ok thanks... but....but!! Shania wont do it!! Im sure its because of the crowd!!! (im gonna find a 100 reasons for it!) Anyways she was there and she looked great! Who's the presenter of the Today Show (just wondering)... Im sure Shania will sing live next time! She loves too much her fans, she wont disapoint them :D

Give Shania a break. It is hard to sing in a stadium with that acostics and the weather etc.. You guys try to sing in those conditions. You guys say that you were dissapointed... what kinda of fans are you. You should be proud and say welcome back. A lot of preformers can't avoid lip sinking.

Then why could we hear her talking to the audience? There could have been technical difficulties with that too.

Yep, I believe Shania IS singing. I tried to explain this before after the David Lettermen show. I believe its the band that is NOT playing live, but performing too a soundtrack. Shania has an ear piece so she can hear the music as she sings. To my knowledge Shania WAS singing live on the CMA Special and on David Lettermen. However the music track was not in sync with Shania and it caused vibrations and an echo. I didn't see today's performance of course but sounds like the same thing. The recording just wasn't in sync to Shania's live performance. Thats my theory anyway....

I disagree, I think the band on David Letterman was playing live. I have watched it over and over and it is evident that they were. I do agree that they did put a track in back of her to make it more pop sounding on some parts only though, but it was all live. As for the Grey Cup: these things are usually not live due to timing,but it really doesn't matter because we all know Shania has the pipes!!

Well at least I got to see Shania, it was a good Grey Cup even if the Eskies did lose. The Eskies had a good season over-all. I'm happy.:)

I agree with you- I LOVED watching the band on Letterman- if they hadn't been playing they wouldn't have been so into it. Watching Corky and Roddy was HYSTERICAL! :funny:

I have recorded it too and I can see it. I recorded it with TIVO and it's as clear as a bell. On IGGG, It appears she is live, The shadows are there and everything. :D

Ok, ok, seriously.
Doesn't matter either way though. In this Country, when people sing at halftime shows, it's pre-recorded. It's just too hard to get the proper sound unless you have the truckload of sound equipment that accompies the stage. Concerts are different, because you have hours, or days to set up the sound system. At halftime shows, it's just that. A Show that is set up and taken down within minutes.

David Letternan, and the today show, or any TV apperance for that matter are live and sung live. The music may be pre-recorded to a point, but you can bet, the vocals are real .

I will say this though, when looking at the digital recording again you can see the cold air vapors from everyones mouths. It may not be live, but they are breathing. :)

They definitely were playing the record to the TV audience at home, I've listened to UP! & IGGG enough times to know it was the record they were playing. Whether she was lip-synching or not IN THE STADIUM is the question. I'm thinking like everyone else....in that cold weather with terrible accoustics, it would have been smart to lip-synch. Otherwise, the people in the stadium heard a terrible performance.

Canoilers, you said you were there, did it sound like you were listening to the CD?
