Letter in the Timmins Daily Press: Poor Mutt got called Jeff again. And a good bit of news: someone bought the Maple Leaf, and it will again open its doors. (Wonder if Monique is related to Paul Bolduc, Shania's old beau?)

Letters - As I watch Shania Twain’s rise to fame, one thing about her has never changed; how great a lady she really is.
The recording companies, the music industry in Nashville doubted her talent at first, and still to this day, grudgingly acknowledge her talents and love for the art of music.
Fighting to do things her way, believing in herself enough to keep going and find a place for herself, I am very proud of her. Some people said it was her husband that made her, and that she was just a pretty package.
That is so far from the truth.
As someone once said, Shania is the diamond, and her husband Jeff “Mutt” Lange placed the setting around her to allow her to spread her wings.
Her talent has opened many doors for other female artists with her style, grace, creativity, and refreshing lyrics.
Shania Twain is an inspiration for many young women and little girls that needed to believe in themselves.
Seeing Shania accomplish her dreams by doing things her way, not following anyone else, promotes healthy individuality.
Even thought all this quick rise to stardom, fame and fortune, Shania still found time to come to Timmins, even donating part of her concert money to help charities.
Keeping true to her hearts is all she needs to concern herself with.
I read an article that was posted in the beginning of Nov. by Brenda Goheen.
It stated that Shania Twain should remember her city, where she came from and even criticized her for not showing off her baby.
Ever hear something called privacy?
The only ones she owes anything to, are herself, God and her child.
Yes, she is from Timmins, but Timmins is not her child, nor her responsibility.
Many people leave this city to find their dreams and futures, do people complain about them?
Fame doesn’t give anyone responsibility…any more than anyone else that leaves this city to follow their dreams elsewhere.
She has done a lot for this city, and yes, maybe the money it took to make the Shania Twain Centre could have went somewhere else, but I think the Shania Twain Centre couldn’t hurt any either because it brings tourists, knowledge of our city and shows how talented Canadians are.
So don’t begrudge Shania Twain because she became famous and just happened to be from here.
She takes good care of her family, she remains level-headed, keeps her soft heart, and remains the great lady that she is.
The comment about her losing some fans and only a couple thousand left, is ignorantly false as well.
Shania Twain’s popularity grows more and more every year.
She has even helped bring new types of fans to the country music industry.
Instead of being jealous of her, why not take her good fortune as a lesson for yourself, that even if you are from a small town like Timmins, you can do anything you want to do, no matter where, if you really want it badly enough. The Maple Leaf has been bought by someone now, it is not left behind nor will the doors remain closed.
I say...I’m proud of you Shania, God bless you sweet lady, and keep going.
