From Hits Daily Double:
HEY SAILOR: Nearly 100 U.S. Naval Academy cadets had their computers confiscated while they were at class Monday, according to Reuters and other reports. The purpose of the seizures was to search for downloads of copyrighted music and movies at the request of the RIAA and other entertainment groups, which have sent letters to colleges, universities and academies asking for a crackdown. Those cadets found to have illicit copies on their computers could face penalties including loss of liberty (oooh), court marshal or even expulsion. Some military analysts have already wondered aloud whether now is the best time to be thinning the ranks of our future military leadership with something that has yet to be proved illegal in court, since we’re apparently about to start a big war and everything.
