Hey,

I thought that 500,000 copies of an album sold in the U.S meant it has gone gold. On the billboard charts, there is no 'dot' after Up, showing that the album has gone gold. Is this just an error?

RIAA certifies UP with 4 times Platinum after 30 days, am I correct?
The number of shipped cds..

RIAA certifies gold and platinum with the number of shipped cds.
Soundscan follows real amount of sold cds..
Although they leave out some retail chains/shops and some internet sales. So the real number of sold cds is somewhere between RIAA certification and Soundscan numbers..

Jonno, if you check out the ARIA Albums Chart, you will see Shania's "UP!" at No.1 with NO accreditation next to it, yet Robbie Williams has debuted at No.5, yet he has Platinum accreditation next to his name. ?????????????

BTW, sucked in Robbie!! Shania beat ya!!!!!!!!!!

That means that there is alot of unsold Robbie William's albums and the stores didn't believe Shania would sell that well. It didn't even go gold! ....even Barbra Streisand with a debut of #33 has a gold accreditation!
