It was an okay show. The behind-the-scenes view is definitely different than putting on a concert.

She did an excellent job with the first song, "When The Lights Go Down."

But she lip synched most of the songs! Am I the only one that noticed that? :uhh:

I watched everything but the very end. . . .I went and took a bath. :p

Look at this review, from Stacy's Music Row Report:

From the November 29th e-mailbag: CHRISTINE STEVENSON of Essex Fells, New Jersey writes with wishes for a belated "Happy Thanksgiving from a faithful reader of your report.

"I caught most of FAITH HILL's television special last night and was left wondering WHY she is the 'superstar' that she is. I realize she has supermodel looks (I would never deny that--she is a lovely woman) but the more I hear her lately, I have come to the conclusion that her voice is EXTREMELY average. I have followed Faith's career since her first WB (country) album and I can't help but feel her voice used to be much, much better than it is now. (Didn't she have an operation on her voice a few years ago? Well, if anything, I think it diminished her vocal strength.)

"She sounds like she is constantly straining now to hit notes (not only in her live appearances, but on her records, as well--so even the technology isn't hiding it) and, more often than not, she ‘kills’ notes instead of holding/sustaining them. For instance, I noticed that she has adopted this incredibly irritating habit of cutting short certain notes that should be held, and then sticking the word 'yeah' at the end of the note. WHY?? Is this supposed to denote 'soul'? It sounds sloppy and lazy instead.

"This faux r & b style of singing she's adopted is RIDICULOUS! Hill's song arrangements have uniformly gotten busier and seem so cavernous now, they all but squash out any meaning in the lyrics she's singing. Her duet with CARLOS SANTANA last night on her megahit 'Breathe' was also unsatisfactory. His guitar playing and her singing did not mesh and only seemed to fight each other for dominance. Faith's records are now campily overproduced and she's being saddled with material that is trite and vacuous. What ever happened to the great chops she showed on ‘But I Will,’ one of her early, (minor) country hits?

"Stacy, I am CONVINCED that Faith Hill's appeal lies solely in her beauty. I have read that she is a sweet woman but I believe her career is being seriously mismanaged! If she always intended to record pop/r & b albums, WHY on earth did she start off in country? I believe she always knew she would eventually be jumping the ship for the VH-1 crowd.

"I hope you will address this issue in your column. I am no longer a fan of Faith Hill's singing (and you can quote me on ALL of the above)!"

It would be interesting to know whose advice, if any, Faith seeks and whose viewpoint, if any, she respects. (Human nature being what it is, these are not always one and the same.) Hill certainly has repeatedly addressed some of Christine’s observations in interviews, to the point where Faith is annoyed with the question(s), suggesting that if country fans don’t like her branching out "it’s their loss."

I was dissapointed too:rolleyes: I thought it would have been better had the special been more of an intimate concert setting rather than an hour of pieced-together performances. I don't think she was lip synching though. It looked like she sang live, but the album tracks were laid over the live vocals after the fact. And what the heck was up with the girls and those ridiculous plexi glass hats during TWYLM??:uhh: I love Faith, but this special was definitely not what I was hoping for:down:

I don't blame Faith for most of this. I think her management team needs to re-think where they want Faith to go. She's a good singer, and I like her a lot, but I have noticed her voice seems strained on a lot of her new songs. The special was a good Idea, but as with most good ideas, if they are not properly executed the end result is bad. I agree with you on the concert thing. It would have been much better.

I don't know what was up with those plexi-hats either! :funny:
I was like. ."What the heck is that?" :p

To me that looked like Faith would go along with anything. :smirk:

I could tell she was lip synching in a few songs. . . for example when she was in the 'bar' singing. There were a few small notes in which her mouth didn't match the words.

The first song "When the lights go down" and the duet with Santana were both live.

It's very easy for me to pick up on whether an artist is singing or lip synching. If the song is EXACTLY like the record. .then they are not singing live. Nobody sounds EXACTLY the same. :smirk:

Not even our fabulous Shania. :)

I watched it. I didn't really like it. It was okay, but her first special was a little better. Although I wasn't too crazy abot her first one either. ha I love Faith don't get me wrong its just that I am not too crazy about her new material she has. She looked great though I guess..:p And yes,I could tell she was lip synching "Cry" ugh HATE that song. :p Anyways, all in all I thought it really sucked there I said it! :funny:

I agree wholeheartedly. When I heard Faith sing "There you'll be," my ears were hurting when she tried to sing that high note at the end. Ever since, I realize she can't handle Celine-like songs.

I think Faith is better suited to her older music; her new CD and this concert were both disappointing because they aren't highlighting her talents properly.
