Question about Martina Mcbride?

Hey people

You may find this hard to believe, but before her performance at the CMA'S, i'd never heard of Martina Mcbride, but i've been hearing so much about her lately, and i loved her performance at the CMA's, that i was thinking of getting one of her albums. Just wondered if anyone could recomend a particular one as i see she has released quite a few. Any feedback would be great!!!

Martina is the best damn singer I've ever heard. No one can sing like she can ... she's simply amazing. ALL of her records are awesome. If you want just a plain Martina record, other than her "Greatest Hits," get "Evolution." That spawned two #1's on country, one #1 on AC and numerous top 5 hits! :)

Well it arrived today. Have listened to about half the tracks, and from what i've heard so far, i really like it. Obviously i'll need to listen to it through a few times, so i get to know the songs more, but so far so good. LOVE CONCRETE ANGEL!!! :) :)

You are exactly right. While I'm not saying Shania isn't a good singer, I just think she's best at songwriting while Martina is best at singing. Martina has tried to write before but hasn't come up with anything that she thinks is good enough to put on a track. Shania is a brilliant songwriter, I'd love for her to write something especially for Martina some day.

Independence day is one of my favourites so far off the album. Firstly i just love that title for a song, and i agree that is a great quote and it obviously gets a huge reaction out of people in the states, and anywhewre for that matter.

That would be great if Shania could write something for Martina, and i wouldnt rule it out, since shes written for others before and said that she would love to do so in the future. It's a shame Martina's not a writer herself, but not everybodys good at evreything. And from Martina's reaction at the CMA's after Shania's performance, she obviously has a lot of respect for her, and i think would love to have Shania write her a song.

The more and more i listen to this album, the more i love it. There are so many brilliant tracks on it, and i just love Martina's voice.

Has anyone noticed how much the beginning of wild angels sounds like The Corrs song Breathless. I am a massive fan of theres, but no offense to them but its almost as if they stole that first bit, its just so alike.

Thanks Leigh. Nice to know i ain't the only one. Coverage of country music in our country is rather poor, which is probably the reason why, although i think its better than it has been. It would make such a difference and boosts sales if we had cmt over here.

Here are my faves so far:

WHEN GOD FEARIN WOMEN GET THE BLUES: This song is just brilliant, just makes me laugh so much. Love the heavy violin in it, and the lyrics are so comical.

CONCRETE ANGEL: Very emotional, and moving song. Really shows off Martina's voice.

INDEPENDENCE DAY: Superb ballad with very meaningful lyrics.

HAPPY GIRL: Got a real irish tinge to it. Love the tin whistle, and just a very 'happy' song.

Also love VALENTINE, BLESSED, I LOVE YOU, MY BABY LOVES ME. There are just so many great songs on here, that its hard to choose favourites.

Well when you pointed it out to me before, i went straight to that track,listened to it, and instantly LOVED it, i like the intro goin into it as well. I've been singin' it in my head all day at work, and sort of humming it to myself. I'm sure some of the blokes at work, think ive lost the plot. *LOL*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and about your hair. I can see why, it'd be scary, especially when youve had it long most of your life. Heres what i think. If ya really wanna do it that much, just go for it. The worst, that could happen is that you may not like it a lot, but it is hair, and it will grow back soon enough. On the other hand you may love it. Just my opinion. Let us know what ya think.

No, Martina has never toured the UK. Martina said in an interview once that she'd love to -- but like you said, there isn't much exposure for country music artists over there, so she's not sure when.

You have the "Greatest Hits," right? If you don't have "Evolution," I highly recommend that one. It's AWESOME. There are 6 singles that were released off that record, two of which went to #1 on the country charts ("Wrong Again" and "A Broken Wing") and one which went to #1 on the ac charts ("Valentine"). The other singles that were released were "Happy Girl," "Still Holdin' On" (a duet with Clint Black) and "Whatever You Say."

I think i need to start a campaign, to get CMT back in europe. Maybe Marika will help me!!!! There really are some great artists around at the moment, and what with the resurgence of country, roots, and bluegrass, in N.A at the moment, theres no better time to get it back on in Europe. I think with the right publicity and exposure It could do really well. I myself have only recently had a lot more exposure of it through, the internet, and would be lost without it now.

Heres hoping that Martina will tour our shores one day!!!!

Well, i'll definitely have "EVOLUTION" as my next CD to get, and will probably get "EMOTION" after that.

You know -- "Emotion" is my least favorite Martina CD. In order my favorites are:

"The Time Has Come"
"Evolution"
"The Way That I Am"
"Wild Angels"
"Greatest Hits"
"Emotion"
Of course there's "White Christmas," too but we won't count that.

"Emotion" is just not "as good" as the others. :shocked: I'm just not a fan of the pop-country stuff anymore. I prefer Martina's softer countrier music. If you know what I mean.
