I'm actually surprised Jonno. It'll hang in there for a very long time though. She'll be in there for 2 years like COO was i'm sure. I so wish she outsells COO, wouldn't that be the best? She hasn't got much competition anymore, Madonnas new album will be released n February but Shania is the only female that can outsell Madonna now, so that shouldn't be a problem.

It's all Shania from this moment on

Shania goes down 1 place to no 5 at the UK top 40 this week. It is just a kind of shuffle among the 5 albums.
If powered by a great single, Shania would be up to the top spot.

JENNIFER LOPEZ enters at no.14, what a surprise! I thought she would be top 5.

Good news. Mercury label captures 3 positions at the top 10.

1 (1) ESCAPOLOGY ROBBIE WILLIAMS EMI
2 (3) ONE LOVE BLUE INNOCENT
3 (2) UNBREAKABLE - THE GREATEST HITS - VOL 1 WESTLIFE S
4 (5) THE GREATEST HITS 1970-2002 ELTON JOHN MERCURY
5 (4) UP SHANIA TWAIN MERCURY
6 (6) MISSUNDAZTOOD PINK ARISTA
7 (7) A NEW DAY AT MIDNIGHT DAVID GRAY EAST WEST
8 ( ) ENCORE LIONEL RICHIE MERCURY
9 (8) IT HAD TO BE YOU - THE GREAT AMERICAN ROD STEWART J
10 (12) LET GO AVRIL LAVIGNE ARISTA
11 (9) ELV1S - 30 NUMBER 1 HITS ELVIS PRESLEY RCA
12 ( ) SOMEWHERE IN TIME DONNY OSMOND DECCA

Up! dropped in Australia because of the lack of airplay for the single and consquently the single dropped because of lack of airplay also. I'd like to see the airplay chart (it does exist for australia but I think only radio stations can see it - btw the aussie single chart is based on sales only, not like america) because I don't think Shania would be on it. It's sad because every song that she released on come on over became a radio hit because people loved her songs and in turn she had 4 top #5 singles.

The next single needs to be a big radio hit otherwise the album will continue to slide. #1 to #5 is a big drop, I don't even want to look at next weeks chart. Some remixing needs to be done to get a radio hit for australia....shania's songs don't sound like anything on the radio at the moment. An album can't become the best selling album of the 90's in australia without considerable airplay. Is Shania coming to Australia soon?? She needs to, her label's support has been shocking so far, which is strange because I thought her australian people were the best around (they ordered the pop remix of If you not in it for love im outta here and carefully promoted come on over...maybe letting the album drop to #5 is a strategy?)

Strategy? Im not so sure. I really think, 'Im not in the mood' is not the best single to put out next on the album. Ka-Ching would be a big australian hit on radio im sure. Very muuch a sound that people would enjoy at the moment.

Sux about the lack of airplay, hey. D you think that the slightly higher price of Up may have something to do with its drop?

I think that it's ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC that a singer as GREAT as Shania takes some time off, and when she returns with a fantastic new album with 38 tracks on 2 discs - so called fans don't even support it.

Where the hell are the 1.2 million Australian fans who bought COO??? Are people really that fickle??? I AM SOOOO ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I knew that UP! would drop this week. Universal Music are being PITIFUL with their promotion of UP! - it's non-existent actually! Have they forgotten how many copies COO sold in Australia? Do they even care??

I thought that IGGG had a really good chance of making it to No.1 - so much for that. It's not even going to make the Top 10. COO's first 4 singles all made the Top 5!!! Australian radio isn't supporting it at all.

Our Top 5 is a joke:
1. John Farnham - face it Jack, you are an old hack has-been
2. Avril Lavigne - mouth
3. U2 - Best Of cash-in, to boost their wallets and egos
4. 8 Mile soundtrack - Eminem drops the 'F' word a few hundred times, and it's like: "Oh, he is a musical genious!"
5. UP! - Shania Twain, it's a miracle that this is still Top 50. I mean, with thanks to Universal Music and to radio, does anybody even know that this album is even out???

UNIVERSAL MUSIC - You are pathetic
AUSTRALIAN RADIO - You are pathetic
And to all those people who aren't supporting Shania anymore, you are PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is hardly any promotion for Up in the UK either. The record company have simply let the ego mad Robbie Williams take over. I haven't seen a single poster in a record shop window, there are no wall posters and there has been no TV advertising at all, and I'm gonna getcha good doesn't even feature on Now53 for some strange reason.

Are Mercury being complacent or just plain stupid. So far Up has not even sold 60k according to the Dotmusic website quoted in another thread, but then neither has Robbie Williams which I find odd, so am not sure of the accuracy of those figures.

How does the ego fare in Australia by the way?

YOU GO BARDOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree whole-heartedly. Its very frustrating. At least their is some reasurance in the fact that John Farnhams album will drop when his 'last tour' is finished.

Robbie's album is at #6 in Australia, just behind Shania. His single "feel" a radio hit...very heavy rotation on most stations but not on the single chart yet, but I think one's available.

John Farnham benefited from two television specials and the fact that this is his last tour. It doesn't really have staying power. Does Up have staying power in Australia???

Yes, John Farnham is a veteran australian singer. He has been around for over 30 years. he is very much loved and respected. He is touring for the last time at the moment so thats why his album is riding so high.
