I was thinking that it would be cool if we could start some sort of online congratulatory card for Shania & Mutt http://www.shaniaforums.com/smile.gifIt's basically just a way for us to let them know how happy we are for them. I would love to hear what you guys think of it!

I'm not sure if I got it right, but Heather talked about an ONLINE CONGRATULATORY CARD, and I'm quite sure that somewhere on the WWW there must be a possibility to create something like an "online wall of fans" and if Matt, Armando and Longshot announce it big enough on their sites or here... http://www.shaniaforums.com/smile.gif I mean, we pretty much all agree that either Shania and Mutt or someone who works for them checks these sites regularly, so the chances for them to see it might even be bigger than sending a card to their address, because they might not open fan letters to that address anyway... know what I mean?

In the book 'On her way' Barbara says clearly she doesn't go to her websites. So if we do a tribute or something like that, she'll never see it! And this might sound rare but don't you think she will appreciate it if we just send the card? Not that you have to go and knock on her door to say: "Hi, I'm ... and I come to deliver you this card, from us all at shania.net. Well, bye"

I agree with Manu on the privacy issue http://www.shaniaforums.com/biggrin.gif They are going to be wary of any packages or mail that come to them from people they dont know. And if they were to get the congratualtory package from us, they would probably wonder exactly how we got the adress lol http://www.shaniaforums.com/wink.gif What I am trying to say is that Shania & Mutt are very private people and are even more so now with the baby on the way http://www.shaniaforums.com/smile.gif So, that is why an online card would be ideal. I was wondering too how we would make Shania aware of it. I think it would be cool if Matt would perhaps set the online card up and then let her label know, so they could forward it to her. I don't know what to say, hmmm. If we do it online, Shania may never come on and see it. If we send it to her, it might be sent back hmmmm. I know it's kind of envading her privacy, but if we put that it's from the people at the Shania Twain Forums, then she might open it. Believe me, Shania and her management can't afford NOT to go to websites! Some of them will, I'm 100% sure about that!

And of course, it's not a big deal to get their address, but I have made my decision, I don't give her private address to anyone, if someone else does I can't stop him or her, I just think that right now things like that shouldn't get too public because I think the first pictures of her being pregnant will be very much wanted...

Look, I'm not accusing anyone of bad intentions, but we KNOW that Shania moved to Switzerland because of privacy issues, and I get lots of requests to give people her address, and what was I going to say... ummm... yeah, sorry, no address from me ok?

Ok Manu, if that's your decision I can't stop you. No hard feelings. But if we send the card to you...then you can mail it to her, that doesn't mean you have to go and knock on the door or anything like that... Then you still given the address to no one and the card is delivered.
About the websites. There are soooooooo many websites out there, and I still don't believe her management and she go looking to it. It says clear she doesn't give a damn she go and see what they tell about her on the Net. There you can believe me.

I agree with Manu's decision 100%! Not only because of the privacy issue, but also because of how Shania will view her in the future! Right now Manu is a local fan who has been very respectful of Shania's privacy in her visits; if she becomes a forum messenger that will likely alter how Shania reacts to her in the future!

Shania's record label will not likely forward a letter to her, because they are probably flooded with fan mail!

I know that everyone has strong feelings on this but I'm sure that we can find a way of doing it without invading her privacy, puting Manu on the spot or not having her see it! I think Mercury online site might be our best bet!

For me it's all good... 'cause I have a feeling this isn't gonna work out. But it would be VERY cool if we could sent it. About the fact of Mercury Records. You're right. I mean, I sended also a Christmas card last year, and hoped she wrote back. But no answer and I think it's lost in mail because it's a long distance. So, if Matt or anyone in the USA sent it to Mercury Records I think it must arrive, aldo they have a lot of fanmail, they will apreciate the card.

So once we can get the actual online card set up, then we can decide where to go from there. We have all pretty much agreed that we don't want to invade Shania privacy in any way. I am still for simply getting in touch with someone at Mercury and telling them about it. I also believe that Shania's people at Mercury check out the really great fansites like this one regularly. I've seen people writing online about an 'official board' that was just opened for Shania by her management or by Mercury a couple weeks ago. I don't know exactly what it is, but what I've seen suggests to me that it fits your idea of need for a "channel." Londo knows about it, I believe, and could give you details on the mechanics of it. However, you might have to listen also to his in-depth perspective of the pros and cons of using that channel. This thread has already covered many of them, so maybe he'll only have to fill in the gaps. The main two issues, I think, are A) your post will be one of many; and B) people with connections to Shania will see your post. I've also heard that you can only see one line of text at a time, as you enter it there. People have noticed that it's very hard to compose organized thoughts in a database field which only lets them see the last 6-8 words they've written. If they don't upgrade that interface, you would definitely want to compose your complete message or congratulations card, in an ascii text editor & copy, then paste.
