okay I've wondered about this since sunday. Why are the 10-6 Colts going on the road to face the 9-7 Jets?

Because Tennessee had a better record in the Colts' division. Indy earned a wild card spot while the Jets won their division, thus giving the Jets home field for the first game.

:smirk: thought that might be the case, but IMO it doesn't seem right.

..this is what could happen..

NFC North
14-2 Packers = div. title
13-3 Bears = Wildcard

and then if the Panthers were to win the south div with say a record of 9-7 or even 8-8, Carolina would have home field to 13-3 team. To me something doesn't add up.

I agree, it doesn't seem that fair. Even though Indy had a better record than the Jets, they get the short end of the stick just because they were in the same division as the Titans who had the best record (tied with Oakland) in the AFC. Oh well, at least Indy got a wild card and they get to play. :smirk:

BTW, your example with the Bears going 13-3 was a little too hard to believe after their year this year. :p They went from 13-3 last year to 4-12 this year... Ouch.

It doesn't seem fair that Indy got to play the Houstan Texans twice this season while the Jets had to play The Bills, Superbowl Champ Pats and Miami twice. They only allowed the Texans to score 6 pts in both games. Indy didn't fair to well against teams with winning records neither. Also, lets be honest, it wouldn't have made much difference, the Jets are better on the road.

After missing a few games, suddenly I see that the Jets are the new team to win the Super Bowl. When did this happen?! All season I hear that Tampa Bay is a sure bet to win the Super Bowl and now all I hear about is the Jets. I will say that the Jets surely looked like a team that could win it all.

They've outscored their opposition 118 to 34 in the last three games and to tell the truth, it wasn't that close. The most important thing this time of year is momentum. The Jets are on the Hot streak right now. Some of the other teams have not been playing that well. That doesn't mean things can't change, it only takes one play to change a teams destiny this time of year. We can only wait and see.

After that Pittsburgh/Tennessee game I don't see how either team would be able to play another game with all of their players injured. I'm glad Tennessee won 'cause Maddox clearly didn't look up to perfoming to his ability. His timing was off, his throws were off, his offense had one penalty after another (not that those were his fault but still...), etc. He just didn't seem able to lead his team like he should have. I would've put a helmet in some of those guys who committed idiotic penalties. Anyway, Tennessee didn't look much better. They're almost as banged up as Pittsburgh, so I don't expect them to win another game. I just hope that Maddox will use the off season to recuperate and come back next season on fire!

Matt, you got lucky this week. :) Between the depleted Steelers and injured Titans it was anybody's guess who'd be healthy enough to PLAY that one - much less WIN the game. I was disappointed in the Atlanta/Philadelphia game. :( I was hoping for a Vick/McNabb show down and all I got was a defensive shut down. Neither QB could do much. :( Poor Chad Pennington. :( Damn that Rich Gannon. I hope he gets humiliated. lol I don't care too much for Gannon or the Raiders, so I sure as heck hope they don't make it to the Super Bowl.

Am I the only one surprised that the Jets/Raiders game wasn't closer? I thought it'd be the "real" super bowl game. It wasn't.

Matt

It's a little surprising that none of the 8 teams from the first round of the playoffs made it past the second. :smirk:

With the way these referees are making so many mistakes, the teams that play to score early and often will most likely win. That is, if they can stay healthy, avoid turnovers and actually have a man who can kick field goals. lol

I'd like for Philadelphia to win, but I picked Tampa Bay, to be in the Super Bowl, since Week 2. If the Eagles score early and often they'll win. I want McNabb in the Super Bowl game, but the Bucs defense is the best in the NFL. Hmmm.... I'd love for anybody - even Tennessee - to beat Oakland, but I don't think that's going to hapeen. So, here are my picks.
