Hi guys , it's the christmas hollydays , the time you think about your past years and all those stuff ... So talking about stories , I was wondering : when did you first see Shania or hear about her ? What make you become a fan ?
The first time I saw her it was on her first french Tv show at the end of 99 (we have to wait a little longer than you to hear about shania ! ), in a special Johnny Halliday (french singer) , she was performing Man!I feel like a woman . A few days after I got COO and then WIM and now I'm here listenning to Up! while writting this thread . I make the story a little short but basically it's about that . I Got to go , I won't be able to go on the internet for about ten days (got my exams and don't have computer in my appartment ) so I Hope there 'll be a lot of replies when I 'll come back !

Mr first exposure to Shania was when I viewed her What Made You Say That video on CMT in 1993.

I was mesmerized by the video and her talent and voice and beauty and set about learning every thing I could about this wonderful women.

I have been a devoted fan of hers since that time and will always have her in my heart and soul.

I saw her the first time while watching MTV, I think it was in 1998 when I saw That don't impress me much. I knew just from the first time I saw the video that there's something special about her. It was her smile and she was so vivid. And then this voice. I think those eyes catched me that second.

It was 1999 when I first heard That Dont Impress Me Much from that woman, Shania Twain, on the radio. I liked it and it happened that I saw the COO album a couple of days later in the store and bought it. No need to say that I loved that CD. Though the first song I ever heard of Shania was AMOM. My dad has it on one of his (country) CD's. Well I didn't knew that it was Shania, and it took me like a year to find out that this song on that CD was one of Shania's... :smirk:
I first saw her a few weeks after I got COO, on some music channel, not sure which one. TDIMM was playing and I thought hey I know that song. It was cool :)

LOL!!!!!!@ Ben...You'll remember someday buddy:)

Okay here is mine.....

It all started in 1995 when I hear If You're Not In It For Love I'm Outta Here, I liked Shania until I forgot her then I heard Shania a few times but never really took interest. By 1998 I hear You're Still The One, Then I heard Honey I'm Home and From This Moment On. Then I saw her on Diva's live Man Shania looked beautiful:love: I could not get enough of Shania. So by early 1999 When I heard that Shania Twain was coming to Australia I thought I'll go. Then I thought Nah I won't go. I told my Mum one day in January of 1999 that I want to see Shania in concert. But Mum said who will I go with? I thought well I don't know. So On Febuary 9th 1999 Mum and I were seeing a friend I told our friend I wanted to see Shania in concert. Our friend said If I've known I would have given my ticket t you as she had given it away. I thought Oh well. I have to admit I was a little bit disapointed. But I forgot about it Until Saturday 13th of Febuary 1999 my mum's friend rang to talk to mum and I thought just to chat. I had not thought about Shania or her concert But when mum said Oh she'd love to go. I thought Huh? love to go where?? Mum then turned around and said Carley would you like to go to Shania Twain's concert. I said Yeah I Love too:) I could not stop thinking about Shania all day. So on Wednesday Febuary 17th 1999 I saw Shania Twain in concert and That night I became her fan for life so next month is 4 years that I have been a fan of my sweet Darling  Shania:kiss:

Shania's fan for life:kiss:

The first time I saw her was on Divas live when it was on tv here back in 1998 I think (the only time they have shown Divas Live on danish tv) I didn't pay her much attention, silly me, I was watching it only because Celine was there. Then later in the spring of 1999 when IDIMM was a huge hit here I became a fan:D and realised that I had atcually seen her on tv earlier.

Thats a lovely story Carley!!!

Heres my story. It was around the summer of '98. It must have been my Ma's birthday, since i'd brought her brekkie in bed, and that was the first time i heard YSTO on the radio. I was blown away by what i heard, and have been hooked "from that moment on". I thought who is this woman with this amazing voice. It wasnt until a few weeks later when i saw the video for the first time, and i was just stunned by her sheer beauty. Shania and her music have made such an incredible impact on me over the last few years and has touched me in so many ways, that its hard to even put in to words. I don't think there has been another, or ever will be another artist who will do that for me.

Shania Forever!!!!! :) :)

I first saw Shania on the '97 CMAs in her performance of "Love Gets Me Every Time."

I was trying to find others in country music to be a fan of, and I think I got "The Woman in Me" after that, and I really liked it. So that's how I became a fan.

I was going to the cottage with my cousin in 96. She said she had a song she wanted me to listen to on the drive up. The song was WBHYBBU. We ended up listening to the cd sooo much that my uncle banned us from listening to it for a couple of days!

I remember seeing an Entertainment Tonight story way back in......I'm not sure of the actual year, but think it couldda been '95, where they went on location to Shania's video shoot for Any Man Of Mine!! I remember that bit!!! But still, I never really took notice of Shania *slaps herself* until the COO days!! By the time Man! came out, I was hooked!! That was the start of it then!

BTW, does anyone know when that ET story was broadcasted!! Does anyone else remember it???? Or is it just me???

carley.. to save some time.. i'll borrow your sentences..

It all started in 1995 when I heard If You're Not In It For Love I'm Outta Here, I liked Shania until I forgot her then I heard Shania a few times but never really took interest. By 1998 I heard You're Still The One. I remember i was on the computer.. just browsing the net.. feeling kinda sad from relationship problem:smirk: while MTV was on.. then the first part of You're Still The One, in an instant it got me to turn around to watch the video. Went to buy the album some time after, been a fan ever since. And her songs have really influenced my life 'relationship' wise :) :) O ya.. you're still the one (and from this moment) became me and my boyfriend's song all this time

The first time I heard about Shania is in November 1998. There was an advertisement page about her concert on a local newspaper. I just came to the States and knew nothing about her. Though my American roommate was highly excited about her, I had no interest attending the concert --- now I am regreting that! The next year, I saw COO in a library, remembered the name Shania Twain, got curious about her songs, so I checked it out. The result is I got hooked to Shania's songs forever. ;) I also started to listen to other country music after I tried COO.

I first heard, "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under" on the radio while I was living in Florida....I thought the singer had a great voice. I was just getting into the whole country genre and after the song played, the dj said something to the effect of, "That was Miss Shania Twain, and boy does she expose herself in her new video." and coming from mostly listening to pop/rock....I was thinking this video must be pretty bad for that kind of comment in the 90's......well, I started watching CMT to catch this video that was so "bad" and I was shocked to see a great video of a sexy girl, dancing around looking cute as can be.....I kept thinking, "Ok, when does she expose herself!!" lol
Then from that moment on, no pun intended, I was hooked and knew that she would be a huge star...... with that kind of reaction from such an innocent video, I knew that she would have all the tongues wagging......

I remember when she performed, "Any Man of Mine" in that cute two piece black outfit and she went into the audience and I think she kinda sat on Alan Jackson's (?) lap, and the female dj the next day called her all these nasty names and I was so mad! So talented and doing nothing wrong....she was only performing and doing a great job!

So those are my early memories....and now 8 years later :)
