View Full Version : How big a Shania Fan are you???

How often do you listen to Shania's music, watch her on TV-music videos, specials- and have you been to a concert of hers?

I always listen to her music. I even bring my headphones to school so I can listen to her music. I taped ALL of her music videos on CMT and watch them whenever I get a chance, basically at least once every day. And I taped her specials and watch them when I have nothing else to do. Everytime the Shania Twain Behind the Music comes on VH1 I watch it,even though I have it on tape. I have only been to one of her concerts in Connecticut. But that doesn't matter, I'm still a huge fan.

Even though I don't videotape all of Shania's appearances I am a big fan of hers. I work daily but I listen to her music when I can. I also have several of her musical videos and watch them always. Someday I would like to see Shania in concert , but there will probably be tough since I live in Hobbs , New Mexico.

I'm quite the Shania maniac when it comes to collecting stuff...i've got most of it, mags, videos, singles, CD's...but more than that...I draw on her attitude, the way she's lived her life, how she's so positive about everything. Whenever i'm being stupid about something (and that's a lot of whenevers http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif it puts things in perspective a lot. It sounds really cheesy, but her music lifts me up more than any therapy ever could http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif So that's how much of a fan I am of hers.

P.S. I just re-read my last message and it sound like i was in therapy http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif I wasn't, actually i'm studying to be a therapist so in doing that, I've still come to realise that Shania's music is better therapy than anything those old guys proposed http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif

Im a huge Shania fan.I have 4 different cds of her (both versions of Come On Over), a dozen singles 3 videos and I lisen to them all the time. The only artist I listen to more is Hootie & the Blowfish (my all time favorite). I've also seen her 3 times in concert and have watched every special or repeat that comes on.At least the ones I know about.
I love her voice and the melodies of her songs.

I tape all of her specials, videos, and awards that she appears in. I also tape all of her videos; i got her video bio and the live video, behind the music, and the come one over collection. I am looking for the woman in me collection even though i already have the videos recorded. I have all of her alubms and listen to them every day. I also drive my sisters crazy watching all of the videos that i have of her....I collect all the magazines and tabloids that she appears on the cover, or has an article within it. I almost died looking for the 2000 calander a now i am looking for the Shania Eileen Twain begings CD...and I sent her a birthday card on her birthday.

Let's see...I have all her albums. I bought the International version of "Come on Over" before it became available in the US. I also have 2 or 3 singles, I recorded both her TV specials, and I try to record all her performances on TV shows, although I have missed some. And I record whatever videos that appear on the NBS show Friday Night, but only 2 have shown up.

shanilia
03-03-2000, 4:03am
I meant to say NBC, not NBS. And I forgot to answer one of the questions in the original post. I don't listen to Shania's much every day. I would get tired of it if I did do that. I try to listen to all her albums evenly instead of listening to one more than the other. I wouldn't want to listen to one album and then leave the others in their cases and forget about them.

Shania 2ain
03-03-2000, 8:30pm
Wow! You guys are big fans too. I forgot to mention that I have all her cds, including the international version. I space out the cds, but I could never get sick of one. I tape her awards too. Was anyone else disappointed when Shania wasn't at the Grammy's? I was, even though I knew before that she wouldn't be there. I have the calender too. Oh by the way, Qubee Twain, I think that you can buy the beginings off of shania.net. Look on the front page, I think it says something about it along the rigth hand column. And how did you send her a B-day card???
Well keep up with the responses!!

RJ

Well, first off, you guys & gals must have better technology than I do to even KNOW when all these events are happening, so you can record or go see them. All I got is an antenna in my attic for my TV (not cable), plus a vcr. I don't have a music CD player for my music system, tho I have most previous generations of sound system going back to the old 78 rpm vinyl records, and my computer has a few downloaded Shania sound samples.

Meagle: I'm with you, regarding slim chances of seeing her in concert, tho I'd love to.

La: No, you didn't sound like you were in therapy. It was clear to me without need to explain. But I'm real glad you did, 'cause you added that you're studying the subject. I'd like you to email me and discuss further. I work in a related field. And earlier this evening, something you said in another thread struck a responsive chord and I had to respond. Now I know why we were thinking rather deeply along the same lines (regarding one of Justin's notes).

Qubee twain: Yeah! I'm with Shania 2ain on that one! How'd you send a B'day card? Did it get received by your intended?

The rest of you seem ahead of me in the collectors department and the playing music department etc. But I got one that nobody else has mentioned yet. I lift weights to the Shania Twain Live video cassette. Her rhythms and beats are not designed for that so sometimes my reps get outa whack. If I'm not careful, my body could end up like the Wild One's cars at his last trials and race. Speaking of which, what are those anthologies that seem related to him in this forum about? He wrote a note about his disappointing race, not about his death. Tho I s'pose it would have to be someone else that wrote about his death. Must be past my bedtime.

Im not hear to bull anyone, with lies. Im not a big country lover, music wize. I love the northen country, as she does Snow, Skiing etc etc. But as far as music I only like Her and Travis Tritt. I have her tapes, And I have only two tapes in my truck right now that I listen too. Thats Come On Over and a Blink 182 tape. I almost saw her in concert. My sis had tickets and when she tried to get more she couldn't. My nease gave Shaia a rose from the audiance. Something she saw on tv somewhear. So she wanted to do it. Aand she did. I was sad I missed it. I just think her music is really diffrent, its really sexy and emotional. And she is also on my list of just plain hot woman. So she is to me a poster girl, who I love to listen too. What a combination. So i cant say how big of a fan I am. I like her, her music, and her attitude. So I guess I am a fan. As far as how big. I dont know. But I would die to meet her.

I've been a big fan of Shania's since I was a little girl, and my mum also reckons Shania rocks!! I have all four albums but not much else 'cause I can't always get into town. It's really stupid, 'cause where I live, we only get one good channel - and that doesn't even have much Shania stuff on it. The only thing of Shania on there was her Miami Concert which my sister taped for me. Isn't she a legend? I was at work when it was on and I had no idea, but she taped it for me.
I like Shania because, apart from her unique talent, she is very compassionate towards others - like raising money for those kids, and seeing kids who have cancer and are dying. I think she is amazing in that she thinks of others (including her fans) and has not got a big head from all her fame. She is not fake like some celebrities and I like her for all those reasons.
I may not have much about Shania, but that doesn't mean I am any less of a fan. http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif

Harriot, In some ways that must be really cool. I would love to travel to somewear like that. Everyone that doesnt live in the USA think its like the gratest palce on earth. I love america, and its my home. But Its still just everday to me. And id love to see difrent lifestyles. And yes things sorts suck her sometimes too.

Harriet,

So do you follow the two Australian members of Shania's band more closely? I found them both very impressive on the video cassette "Shania Twain Live," of her 2 hr Dallas concert.

I didn't grow up or live 'out in the bush.' But 'out on the farm' was often very isolated and lonely for me as a child.

To Ice838 and RJ:

Yeah, I love living where I do. In the holidays I get to go to the city and beaches and stuff, so that's pretty cool. But I'll always be a country girl!!!

To answer your question RJ, I don't actually follow the Aussie guys more closely, but recently, one of them got married to a girl who is also a singer (from here) and the article also mentioned Shania.(You probably already knew that). That's the only reason why I read it!! I havent seen the Dallas concert though.

Bye,

I do ALL of that too!!! http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif I just LUV Shania! She's the best, isn't she?!? I've bought all the videos and CD's she's ever made. I can't live w/ out them. Whenever she's on T.V. I'll tape it, and if they talk about her on the radio, I record it! I've even taped her Revlon commercials. http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif

Well, let's see. I listen to her music when I am getting ready for school, and every single time I enter my room from the time I wake up til the time I leave for school. I listen to it while I am doing my homework, while I am getting ready for bed, and when I need to take a break to relax. I also listen to it when I am writing in my journal/diary, (which is almost every day), or when I am cleaning or organizing stuff. I own the Woman in Me, both Come On Over's and the God Bless the Child single.
I don't watch her videos as much because you can't do 2 things at once, really while watching them. But, I own so many of her videos: Shania Live in Dallas, the complete COO video collection, the complete WIM collection, and I taped her Dallas cowboys concert from November, and I have her behind the music special, and when her first Dallas concert was on tv, (but it was only 1 hr long), and a video bio, Divas live and I taped the What made you say that video off tv. I have every single one of her music videos on tape. And then there's the merchandise. But I won't even get into that! http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif As you can see, I am a huge Shania fan.

Stephania5

RJ: I lift weights to the beat of her music too! I was trying it to When, when it was on the radio yesterday, but the beat was either too fast or too slow.

I just want to make one point to you: Not ALL people think that the USA is the best place on Earth. I am not saying it's bad, but not all people think it's the best.

I taped all but one video and that's the video for "When." I also have "Shania Twain Live", COO, and WIM CD's. I drop whatever I'm doing just to watch her on TV. I'D LOVE TO GO TO HER CONCERT!!! Oh, yeah I know almost eberyone of her songs by heart. So I think I qualify as a HUGE fan! http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/wink.gif

Sorry for the spelling error. It's everyone not eberyone.

I also should say: "Shania Twain Live" is VHS not a CD.

I have all her CDs, including the "Beginnings". I also have her videos and 2 1/2 years worth of "County Weekly" magazines, most of which mention Shania in one way or another. I'll probably never see her in person, regretfully, because she IS a star of such magnetude... unless there was a concert that wasn't a general admissions nightmare, and I knew before I even got there where I'd be sitting.

Stephania5,

Since neither of us can keep the beat to Shania's music while lifting weights, maybe we'd make a good pair on the dance floor.
Actually, I'm a pretty good dancer when I have some recent practice and a compatible partner. I doubt I'll ever quite get up to the level of Andy Cichon tho.

At first I was a little surprised to hear you were lifting weights. The young woman across the aisle from me at work who I mentored into a promotion, lifts weights too.

Back when I was young, I didn't need to lift weights. We had plenty of rocks to pick, bales to pile and cement blocks to carry up to my dad while he build a new cow barn.

Stephania5

RJ:
I agree- since it is pretty hard to lift weights to Shania's music, dancing would probably be much easier, and more fun too! http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif If I have a proper instructor to teach me the moves, I can be a pretty good dancer. I also really enjoy it too. I grew up doing dances in school from grade 1 to 5, and I'm still learning some now, from friends and at school.
Yes, I do lift weights. Although a female- I do it. I lift weights because I want to have strong arms and a strong upper body in case I ever need to lift something for an impotant reason. i.e.: lifting something off someone's body! http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif But I also do it because I am determined to beat my teacher in arm wrestling by the end of the school year. She is a rower, and she is soooo strong. She has beat me both times I have faced her, but I am determined to beat her!! http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif

I too am a big Shania fan even though I only discovered her really in the Summer of 1999. I listen to her music as much as I possibly can and watch most of her T.V. appearances. I haven't seen her in concert yet but I hope to see her next time she comes over to the U.K.

RJ
04-05-2000, 9:28pm
Stephania5,

After you get your teacher where you'd like her in arm wrestling, you'll also be better prepared for out of doors activities. One of the reasons Shania has kept her physique is a residual of all the physical work she did in the forest, swinging an axe, handling a chain saw, planting trees, supervising a work crew, trapping, hunting, etc.

As for dancing, ole' Uncle RJ is about 4 times as old as some members here; and he'd probably have to practice four times longer to even keep up, let alone teach. Tho actually, I did lead a small group in practicing a few kinds of polka's and a waltze eons ago.

Hi Shania 2ain,

In comparison with you I'm such an ant! I
have no Shania CD or book, or video coollecton! I'm not able to watch her specials or concerts because the only one American TV show!? channel available in Bulgaria is CNN. I have the only possibility
to have "Come On Over" and "The Woman In Me"
on MCs and "Shania Twain-Live" on VHS, which
I haven't watched so far because I don't have
video player! Also I have some articles and
2 magazines with Shania on the cover, and over 120 (126 so far!) very carefully selected cool Shania's pics taken from Internet! It's all my Shania treasure!!!!

Despite it I read and watch mostly everything
which is possible- on the Internet, on the TV, on the radio, in magazine or newspaper where Shania is mentioned. Her name is mostly
everytime rollin' around in my brain- from the morning 'till the night! I ADORE HER!!!!

And sometin' interesting: I have swore that
I won't listen to the Shania's MCs I have 'till I get 4 of her CDs: "Come On Over"- American version, "The Woman In Me", "Shania
Twain" and "God Bless The Child"- single. I
don't know when this dream will come true but
I have sworn in the beginning of 1999...

I consider myself as the BIGGEST Bulgarian
SHANIA's FAN because I'm sure there's no other Bulgarian Shania's fan as mad as me 'bout her!!!!!!!!!

Viva Bulgaria... No, it's better- VIVA SWITZERLAND- the country where Shania's home
is!!!! And VIVA CANADA and USA, too!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I ought to reply sometime about this subject so now is as good a time as any. I have 14 Shania Cd's, some posters, her calendar, lots sheet music, all her videos, and all DVD concerts she has ever appeared in, autographed pictures, I have made a website for her (www.shaniafan.com) and all fans out there, I know most of the creators of fan sites on the net, I am the moderator of this forum (which luckily Matt let me be), I have written and write on a regular basis several of her concert band members, and I am sure I have a hundred other things that have to do with Shania like books magazines and stuff but that is the big stuff. Yes I regard myself as a dedicated true %100 fan!

Justin, you really are a big fan. How can you have 14 shania cds??? I unfortunately only have 4. I have some sheet music too. I can't wait til her new album comes out. I hope it is out by the end of the year. BUT don't rush Shania, take your time so it is great...as always!!!

My god there are some real fans out there!
I haven't got the money or space to keep anything. I haven't been home in a year and I will be going on tour in a month and half, so I can't take too much stuff with me.

But now I feel like I should go out and get a job and a storage space to put all her stuff in!!!!!! Would that be the sign of a true fan?!

Although I do burn a lot of stuff, all the Shania stuff I have is official stuff and cd's. The way I have 14 , actually 15 now is because I order a lot of her singles overseas because I love all the remixes. If any of you have not heard a remix of Shania songs, go do yourself the pleasure of listening to one or two or all http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif of them, they are simply amazing!
