From Countrystars.com...
No One Needs To Hear
Shania Twain says she doesn't consider the music on her CDs to be her best work. "I don't want to make light of it, because the fans like it. I [release] music that I think can do best on a commercial level," she explains. When it comes to her "artistic best" material, Shania adds, "I'm not looking for recognition on it. I don't even really care if anybody ever hears it."
Shania... we want to hear what you think is your best! I think it is sad that she said something like this. I don't understand why she is afraid of releasing her best work. I don't care if it does best on a commercial level. I want to hear what SHE thinks is her best. That's what being an artist is all about. I don't know what to think of this. What do you all think...??

that is all about her very personal songs, which she won't release. Might be her best, but who knows.

It is a very sad statement, but I think it has to do with sharing her most personal, painful work.
I respect the fact that she doesn't want to share that, but I bet you anything that if she ever released it, it will blow everyone out of the water.
Everyone I know, even Shania's most ardent detractors ,admire her self-penned country material, from when she used to sing country music (God Ain't Gonna Getcha For That,Home Ain't Where The Heart Is Anymore) and they think that if she ever released an album of HER songs, without mutt, they would most likely buy it.
Besides, Shania can afford to release an album that doesn't sell gazillion of records.
She has enough fans and money to take that risk...

I read something similar to that and she said some of her best work, she wouldn't even share with Mutt. It's her personal life and all that sort of thing. I can respect that, totally! :)

She should, maybe that'll stop people from trashing her. No wait thats a pipe dream. If she saved 100 people from a burning building people would B-I-T-C-H, why wasn't it 101 you didn't do it right on and on and on.:smirk:

She has enough fans and money to take that risk... I don't see that at all, people will always complain about something she does. Somepeople she can do no right. they will find anything like she can't be country cause she's canadian. blah blah blah.

... I hate that headline...
yet, in my world - there's one woman who has released an ultimate
album and... to this day Tori Amos has come close, but honestly people...
I hope that it'll be Shania Twain who will knock the current no.1 down...
it was mid 80's... a Brit, Kate Bush - The Hounds of Love...
if you hate the album, you're in a parallel universe... it is, IMO,
THE ultimate showpiece of what women in rock can create...
from running up that hill - to hello earth, it's filled with so many strong
emotions... a favorite since it's release.
AND I'M CERTAIN - if there is someone possessing the ability of overtaking
The Kate Bush Masterpiece, it's Shania - if we allow her to do so.
FinnFreak - please: don't slow down!

I think she should release them, she has such potential as a songwriter. I don't know why she doesn't trust that we would like it.

Maybe she thinks that no matter what she does, or how good we think it is. She will get stepped on and really is it worth having your deepest emotions and all stomped on by people who just don't care and will do anything to tear them apart.

She could be afraid of criticism, but I think it would make people give her more of the respect she deserves and make her fans feel closer to her. :)

I agree that people will trash her no matter what, but in my opinion, she has reached a point at which she could sit back, relax and release something that will show the world that she is more than a nice body and a pretty face,
NO ONE NEEDS TO KNOW and I AIN'T GOING DOWN are two exmples that show she is the real deal.
However, I respect her decision. If she doesn't wanna share her pain and her sorrows in the shape of art, that's fine with me...

No, she didn't say it was her best work. She said that they were just thoughts, and feelings of what she was going through at those times. She said those weren't even songs really, just thoughts. I don't think she is talking about the same thing here.

And nothing has changed she still gets cut up. why put herself though the torment of putting her heart on the line and then have it stomped on.
