View Full Version : Another knock on her style choices.....
I clipped the post and I am only including the Shania part......
Fashion
Some Safe, Some Sorry

Many of the 89 million people who watched the Super Bowl this week saw Shania Twain perform during halftime in a costume that made her look like the spawn of Cher and Gene Simmons of Kiss. Twain's ensemble involved a long black cutaway, a miniskirt, thigh-high boots, various silver belts and a silver-studded brassiere that looked to be about two cup sizes too small.
If audiences have learned nothing else from "American Idol," it is that image can trump talent. And so ever since Twain's return from semi-retirement, during which she started a family, she has made several public appearances in which her attire suggests that she is on a mission to prove that she is a sexpot with a rebellious streak. If anything about Twain's wardrobe choice is discomforting -- besides the reality that it is plug-ugly -- it is the nagging sense that her style is not a reflection of an inner rocker chick, but rather an awkward and deliberate effort to announce that neither motherhood nor her hiatus has blunted her sex appeal.
Of course, moms can be hot. The question is whether what reads like insecurity is something for a therapist or cultural debate. Twain may have stuffed herself into that getup, but did she feel we were holding a gun to her head?

Robin is a fashion expert, psychologist, and critic it appears and cannot get many of her facts right!
1 billion viewers vs. 89 million is one of them
Her lame attempt at mindreading Shania is particularly reprehensible and downright ignorant

Sil you are gettin real boring real fast!:)
I guess what makes me p*ssed off the most is the way they are approaching this type of criticism ever since she came back, had a baby, and is close to forty.
They are using those reasons to rag on her and they(media) do this type of stuff all the time with women past a certain age....
Fine, they don't like they outfits she has been wearing, heck, they never liked what she wore back in 93', so that is their perogative, but now they have to gull to say that she shouldn't be wearing these kind of clothes because she is a mom and not really young...
What does that have to do with what any women wears?? Why does it automatically appear desperate?
Like the outfit, hate the outfit, but I don't think that Shania was thinking, "Hmmmmm, I had a baby, I hope they still think I am sexy, let me wear this!!" I think she wore it because she liked it..

No, image is an important thing... there are MORE important things,
but at the moment:
rather you hate Shania than the US government..?
right? - you betcha!
and since the record label isn't raising hell, should mean that when the
troops will be advancing on Baghdad, by then IGGG will be the unofficial
battle hymn - I wouldn't be surprised...
Those guys know what they're doin'!
The 2003 Tour might start at IRAQ...
why else make a blue version?
FinnFreak - we live in a world where we give bad names to beautiful things...

 There are more good than bad comments about Shania in the media and any moron can criticize but Shania has 50 million plus fans who have bought her music and new and old fans are buying more and more of her music every day - that is not boring or monotonous to me or many members here.

no, really: the blue version IS strange, but no reason to start an argument!
So, within a hour we'll get to listen to the duet Bush & Blair, and hopefully
if they aren't doing any encores, we'll get to see some Shania!

Shania, at 37, has the looks and the figure that put most younger women to shame, and she's simply wearing sexy styles similar to what she's always worn. If she liked wearing them before, is it really too hard to imagine that she might still like wearing them today? To insinuate insecurity on Shania's part for doing something that she's always done is quite the illogical stretch.

well maybe because to some of us who live in the general region where that music originated, it does not sound strange....it's very exciting to hear indian sounds blended with shania's music- sure all of it isn't the hottest but it still sounds great on some tracks.

All I can say about this subject is that Shania looked beautiful to me the way she dressed and looked at the Super Bowl and was sexy to an extent too , but I don't think Shania did anything wrong .:)
