I just saw the video and heard Johnny Cash's new single, "Hurt" and I was just in awe at how amazing this song and video are.

The song by itself is a masterpiece. It has hit you in the gut lyrics that I love.....w/ no fancy music to accompany it. A great musical climax layered with a great piano piece that adds to the tension. Then the way he sings the song becomes the icing on the cake. Very few songs send chills down my body; this one did.

Then the video was also amazing, with it's imagery and the surreal shots and use of old footage; a classic.

I wish my other favorite artists would be this ballsy and release stuff this good and innovative.

It's definately interesting ... and like Chloe said, it sort of hits you in the gut as to what Johnny went through / did when he was younger. I'm not a fan of Johnny Cash, but this song is definately cool.

Just saw/heard it, and liked it alot. Trent Reznor did a good job on writing it, as well as Johnny singing it.

I just seen it as well and for not really caring for his style, I have to say it is a hit. I even think it will do well on today's country stations.

The video is now playing at VH1. How much do you want to bet they will not criticize him for crossing over?????

Yeah, there are double standards in Nashville. Willie did an album of pop songs back in the
70s "Stardust" & much of his latest album has pop production, and he does pop tunes like "Time After Time" but the purists regard him as a hero.Yet Shania & Faith get slated
But Johnny Cash is stil a hero in my books.
Don't know if VH1 are showing that vid here.
I'll take a look

As many of you know, I'm NOT a fan of country...

BUT I'm a huge fan of MUSIC... ;)

With Johnny Cash - I've got memories listening to
his stuff since the 70's & he has an amazing presense...

"The Man Comes Around" is a brave piece of work from
an artist turning 70 next week...

Hats off & I bow down to a man who does such great
versions of Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Vera Lynn,
Simon & Garfunkel, etc.

This is perhaps in the top 5 of albums I have bought
in this new millenium - so: there obviously IS hope
for the future...
