Shania for free
-- Shania Twain will perform a special free outdoor concert at Hutchinson Field in Chicago's Grant Park July 27th. The concert titled, "Shania Twain UP! Live in Chicago," will be filmed for an upcoming NBC special to air in August.
"I'm so looking forward to coming back to the States to play a full concert," says Shania. "Playing live in front of the fans is what I enjoy the most."
"Shania Twain UP! Live in Chicago" will be her fourth network special.

Yeah, it's great the concert's free- but the way they're handing out the tickets is absurd... I'm getting tickets for this show- no matter how far I have to go OR how much $$ I have to pay!! NOW- time for me to go to work for that to happen :)

If I was going I would catch Metra train at 6:30 AM. Arrive in Chicago around 8:00 AM. Walk around for few hours until 11:00 AM head to Grant park stand the closest I can. Wait for the concert to start. When the concert ends walk to where the resturants area and have dinner. Walk back to the train station head back home. Get home by 1:00 AM.

US-99 usually goes to country dance clubs in Northern Illinois on Saturday nights. They also have been at many different stores in Gurnee, a town about 25 minutes away from Wisconsin-Illinois state line less if you take I-94. You can tell I grew up in that area before I moved to Wisconsin.

Chicago totally rocked the last time I played there and I can't think of a better place to play my first US live concert in 2 1/2 years. We're going to have a blast in Chicago!" exclaims Twain.
Twain is riding the wave of her enormously successful #1 release "UP!," which has already sold over 8 million copies and spawned the hit singles "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" and "UP!" The current single, "Forever And For Always" is climbing the charts.
"Shania Twain UP! Live in Chicago" marks the superstar's fourth network special. In March, 1999 , Twain's "Winter Break" special brought the audience home to her native Timmins, Ontario and paired her with Elton John in Miami, Florida. The other television specials, "Come on Over" and "Shania Twain Live" were both filmed in Dallas, Texas in 1999.
"Shania Twain UP! Live in Chicago" is sponsored by WUSN - US99.5 radio and the Chicago Tribune. The event is being produced by Jam Productions, Ltd.
Tickets for the show can be obtained locally in Chicago by listening to US 99.5 or by reading The Chicago Tribune.

If you go there you will probly run into alot sailors cause there's Navy base near by. Mostly those sailors love Shania.

Funny thing is I'm 19 years old and my parents wouldn't care if I say up until 1:30 AM in Chicago under one condition I would bring my older stepbrother or my older sister with me.

Yeah, but I'm 17 and I do fine alone in Chicago in the DAYtime, but I've heard stories about people that stayed the night to meet Toby Keith downtown and they've got some GOOD stories, LOL... Sides, Grant Park has pretty good security and I'm sure I won't be the ONLY one...
I have like, the COOLEST parents in the world- they left at 5:00 AM to go to Wheaton, IL to get tix- which is like a 1 1/2 hour drive from us!! YAY!! And when I called at like, 4:30- there was no one in line!! :)
Has anyone else gotten or ATTEMPTED to get tickets??? We have no fans in Chicago!! :(

Hey, I just talked to my mom about 10 minutes ago and they're at the place to pick up the tickets... it's about 7:30 and there's NO ONE ELSE THERE!! I'm soo ecstatic!! EEEK!
yeah- I just HAVE to give an update like, everyone hour or so... it's boring being home alone and having a huge spider in the hallway... don't worry- I leave for work at 11:30 and you'll be rid of me :)

Grrrr.... my mom called like, 10 minutes ago and I guess there were like, 20 other peoples standing at another entrance... I ASKED her the FIRST time she called if she was SURE no one else was there... ohhh, welllll... I'm sure we'll still get tickets!! I don't wanna go to work, LOL!!

UPDATE- my mom just called me and gave me these bits of info:
-Since it is a TV Special, IF it rains on July 27th, it WILL be RE-taped the 28th (a Monday)...
-NO cameras OR chairs will be allowed- BLANKETS ONLY!!
-Right now at the Wheaton Dominicks there are about 300-400 people! My mom's ticket # is like, 20 or something...
EEK! :) Hope some other peeps from this board go so we can meet UP! :)

I think it's kinda nice having them on eBay- for the ones that don't get out much *for physical reasons* or because they live too far away...

Im going to chicago. I just purchased my tickets over ebay. I paid 83 dollars for 2 tickets. I know that they were free but I would pay 500 dollars to see this show. I am truely excited about this show!

Yes I hope UP get to number one in the USA on the back of the TV special. Well done the Shania Fan club for not only reserving blocks of these free tickets for the members, but for giving us folk in Europe a pre release offer on Gold Circle Standing tickets for Hyde Park. Nice one.

I'm trying with all my might to get to the Grant Park concert. I live minutes away and have been entering all kinds of concerts to get there. You can only win the free tix. Not that easy, tho! I'll keep you guys posted if I get lucky enough. If not, the TV special will be awesome. The main thing is that SHANIA IS BACK!!!! :)

Hey Ohio Fan- I just recently had a chat with a Chicago cop and he said that staying overnight in the park CAN be done- they usually go through the park around midnight to make sure no one is being crazy... I'm planning on staying the night in Grant Park. The hotel I'm staying at is right across the street. The park itself is between Michigan Ave. and Lakeshore Drive- very easy to get to... There are some public restrooms by Buckingham Fountain, but I'm sure they'll have Port A Potties set up... if you have any other questions, don't be afraid to ask!! :)

While I was shopping at my local mall and walked into music store.I found out that some music stores are giving out the tickets for the show if you buy a copy of any Shania CD.

I might have a ticket I can give to you. I will try to figure out in the next few days if I can give it to you or not. I will be flying in Sat morning at around 7am so I will probably get in like arouind 10am.

I just found out that I am going to Chicago that weekend. I'm going shopping on that Saturday. We hoping on the train in the early morning walk around Michigan Ave. going to my favorite store Nike Town:) I'm hoping we could have lunch at Hard Rock Cafe so I could look at all the different autographed guitars of my favorite 60's guitarists. Hop back on the train heading back home.
So maybe I'll see you guys around Chicago.
