I've been a fan since November '97 when I heard "Love Gets Me Everytime" for the very first time. And then when I heard "You're Still the One" in December '97 for the first time, I was hooked to her.
I have been a fan since I saw'Any Man Of Mine' on TV in August 1995 on my birthday http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif I'm a girl and I'm straight and things, but I was in a rush and when I saw her on TV i just stopped and stared. And then I heard the song on radio a couple of days later, and it blew me away. I've been a fan ever since.

I have honestly been a complete fan of Shania's since CMT first aired "What made you say that." And I've stayed with her ever since.

I became a fan May 18, 1999 when CMT was showing "Shania Live." I was hooked BAD!!!!!
I have been a fan of Shania's since "Dance With The One Who Brought You" That is such a great song! But then I heard "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under" I didn't even know it was the same person! When I first heard her I thought she was Tammy Wynette. When I heard her the second time I knew she was gonna be something BIG!!!!! Guess I was right!!!

Hi! I've been a Shania fan since the 99 Grammy's. At that time I hated country music. I heard her performance and it just blew me away. I've been a major fan ever since.

I first heard Shania sing when she appeared at the '97 CMA awards and debuted her single, "Love Gets Me Every Time." I had heard a little about her fame, so I paid attention to her performance (normally, I only pay attention when someone I know is singing). I thought Shania did a wonderful job singing that song. She really got into the upbeat mood that "Love Gets Me Every Time" commands. And just a note on the side, I think the song sounds much better in that performace than the album version. So I went out and got her "Come on Over" album, then "The Woman in Me," and finally, her self titled debut. And I've been a fan since the '97 CMA performance.

I've been a fan of hers longer than I tought. I heard What Made You Say That a number of years ago and loved that song. I was never able to find out who it was. Then I heard Any Man Of Mine, a Couple of years later, bought the album and loved it. I did a little research on her and found out she had another album. It took a long time but I found it, and what do you know that song I had loved befor but could never find turned out to be Shania.

I've been a fan of hers for 8 years now, since her first album "Shania Twain" came out http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif When the album came out in '93 i seen it in the stores and picked it up and it looked kinda good and i thought that we needed new singers these days so i brought it at that second, took it home played it and thought to myself, "wow this girl is AWESOME and shes going to make it BIG"*lol*! And ever since i was hooked *lol*
i'LL NEVER FORGET MY STORY
I had just moved to South Carolina, from Miami Fl. And had meet a few girls that were into country. At the time I had been playing guitar for a while already and was into all guitar stuff. But moveing to SC i started to hear alot of country. I first heard the song Any Man of Mine on a CD that was in the stero, the my girlfriends friend was playing. I thought, "now thats a tad diffrent" the back beat cought me right away. And her cool vocals in the begging and end were sorta a turn on, in her sexy voice. And you got to understand, I hadn't even seen what she looked like yet. We went to some country dance place. And the song played again. And i had to try and learn to Line dance with this girl. That was a laff. But the song even hit me more. It wasnt intill, we were sitting waching vidieos latter on that I saw her in that vidieo. Then I lost it. I was in ahhhh??? Ever since then I couldn't keep my ears or eyes off her.

I've been a huge fan of Shania's since I was a little girl - about 9, I think. I can't really remember what song brought my attention to her, but I have liked Shania ever since. I've always liked country music and I s'pose Shania just stood out of the crowd.
ROCK ON, SHANIA!!!!!! http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif
Tho I'm kind of old compared to most of you, I'm almost a newby to Shania fan-dom. Knew nothing about her until recently.
First saw her on a TV special last Fall with the Back Stree Boys and Elton John, I think. Her music grabbed my attention better than most. Her looks didn't hurt, tho I'm old enough to be her father, so that was mostly platonic, if you can imagine that at your ages.
But what really caught my interest was hearing something about her growing up in Timmons. I had been in Timmons many years ago, because of probably the hottest relationship of my life. The amazing woman I'd been going with, grew up in Timmons and I wanted to see that place. Turns out it was similar to the small, isolated, far northern town I grew up in. Incidently, Shania looks and acts quite a bit like the woman from Timmons that I was acquainted with. Not only that, Shania has gone through many of the same experiences I have and has many similar characteristics. I lack her financial success, concentration in music, and I didn't have the childhood hunger and the intense poverty. Otherwise, there are many similarities.
When I saw her next time a few weeks later on TV in an awards show, (CMA I think) she came out in a hat, long low coat, high shorts and boots, all in flaming pink. Even Vince Gill, the show host admitted he was awed.
Ain't it great to be awed by something GOOD for a change?
Since then, I've enjoyed getting better acquainted with Shania's music and her background. I find it amazing that someone can lift so many people's spirits so well, without ever knowing most of them. I think there's something universal and maybe even saintly about her work.

It's been since June 13, 1999 at 7:12 p.m., but I can say that I know all of her songs, and I really want to see her in concert.

I have been shania fan since the Christmas of 1998 when i heard her album Come on Over, the I bought the others...
sHANIA'S GREAT!!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!!¡!¡
I didn't realize how long it had been until I read Fan4ever's remarks! It was about eight years ago, and I was really getting turned off by the way pop was beginning to sound. I was hunting for something that had a nice sound to it, but wasn't "elevator music," or RAP. I heard someone special while flipping through station after station one night in my car. It took a couple days to find out who she was, but I've been hooked ever since.

Umm... Since April 1998. (about 2 years now)
garyphyllis,
35 years huh? Boink!!! I suspect you've upstaged us all with that one. I remember your posted message in some other thread about being there at her start or when she was born, due to being a relative (of her natural father, I think). It's nice to have info from someone so close.
I'll have to at least get your member name right. It's kind of hard for me to remember the exact spelling for some reason. Did you ever have a chance to see or respond to the thread on How and why we chose our member names?
