One of the bet things about Shania is that she hasn't forgotten where she came from http://www.shania.net/shaniaforum/smile.gif I have to say I don't really agree. I am curious as to why anyone would think that.

Why do you say that? Every time I have ever heard an interview in Canada with her she always says something to the extent of it os great to be back.. She always goes and visits and with all the places she can go now that she is world famous she does not have to stay in Canada. I have lived in the US all my life but every Summer I spend over in Europe. Of course she knows where she came from, you never forget that.

No, I totally don't think that Shania has forgotten that she is Canadian. She visited Timins, her home town, on Canada Day! I think that that is pretty significant. I don't think that Shania will ever forget, and I think that she will always be proud to be Canadian.

I seriously doubt that Shania has forgotten about Canada. She is now famous and has the opportunity to spread her love of music all over the world. She now has a home in the millions of her fans' hearts. I say GO LIVE YOUR DREAM SHANIA!!!

Hi there! Shania forgot about beeing Canadian? I seriously doubt it. Shania's heart is purely Canadian. Not only is it Canadian, but she has a heart of gold. After all she does come from Timmins, the city with the heart of Gold. Take it from a hometown fan.

Forgot shes canadian? What has she done thats so "un-canadian"? If you think its because shes not living in Canada well, people leave Canada for the US and other countries all the time. Doesnt mean shes forgotten anything. She shouldnt have to feel obligated to stay in her home country.

WHY WOULD SHE FORGET SHES CANADIAN I THINK THAT MEANS A LOT TO HER AND IN THE WORDS OF SHANIA "WHAT MADE YOU SAY THAT"?

It seems to me it's some Canadians that don't appreciate her. The news from Canada I here, is they booed her name at a Canadian music awards ceremony, and even her home town newspaper in Timmins has slammed her as dishonest.

Meanwhile, the rest of the world welcomes her with outstretced arms.

Dear cokeonice,
Uh Oh! I'll bet you looked up Kimber's profile. Shania is so much in demand that there's a lot of people left wanting more of her attention. So I guess it's not surprising that some are from Canada.

No I dont think she will ever forget where she came from. And in alot of areas she still brings it up, alot! If the fact that shes out performing and doing comercials, and writeing, gives you the impression that she forgot. Then you must be confused. Her vary busy life throws her around the whole world now. Thers nothing she can do about that. And shes makeing a living. And if doing what she does pays the bills. Then thats what you have to do. But She hasnt forgot. But sometimes with fame its hard to go back to wear you came from. Because everyone and everything is diffrent to you. But her past is proably always in her heart.

cokeonice,

i disagree with what you said,

i never heard that she was booed by the canadians, other than maybe a few wierdos.

her hometown newpaper is very supportive of her, just go to the the website of the timmins daily and see for yourself.

eileen has spent money and time supporting her hometown and recently gave money to her old school for scholarships. she has provided much support for the new shania interpretive center.

however, it is true that she, and probably more so her husband robert, does dislike the high canadian taxes. those socialist programs in canada cost a lot of money, you know.

also, it is true that the "canadian native singing award" was taken away from her.

however, that was because she was "adopted" by an indian, and she couldnt prove she had native blood. it was not a reflection on what people thought about her, or how much they liked or disliked her.

i am trying to trace her edwards genealogical line of decent, the side of her family that i know, and there very well could be some real drops of indian blood from her edwards
(biological fathers) line.

How many of us leave where we are born then return? Rarely. But in every interview I have read on Shania she is always glad to be back in Canada.
I watched that awards show where her name was booed. How fickle can you get when an artist doesnt show up?
As for the Native Amercian (are they still called Native Amercians in Canada?) thing everyone has at least a drop of NA blood in them and I'm sure there is some in Shiana's father side or even her mother.

Kimber: I'm quite sure that Shania is ever bit as Canadian as she ever was. If YOU left Canada, you wouldn't forget it, would you? It's breath-taking! I don't think anyone whose ever lived there could ever forget.

now that ive thought about this some more,
it is strange/wierd, how shania now pronounces the letter "O". i never thought about that until now.

but still, if anyone has ever seen the movie "Canadian Bacon"(with john candy-himself a canadian), which shows what canadians are really like, then you will realize that it would be difficult for someone to forget that she is a candian.

Read the latest news about the scholarships that Shania is providing in Timmins and that should remove all doubts that Shania has forgotten her roots.

Canada is a great place and I was fortunate enough to live there for a year. It's a full of beauty and friendly people. Nothing wrong with it all...I want to go back cause I love the place. The fact that Shania comes from Canada makes it even more special!

garyphillis,

I've commented (favorably) a time or two on this website about Shania's Canadian pronunciation/inflexion. I'm interested to hear you describe your observations regarding the way she say's her "O's."
