Irish fans should watch out over the next little while for features in the Sunday Independent, the Sunday World, Hot Press, the Examiner and Cork Echo. Also keep an eye on the TV for interviews with Network 2’s ID, TV 3’s Lorraine Keane and Ireland AM and of course don’t forget tonight’s Late Late Show. There will also be regional radio interviews syndicated through INN and Big Buzz popping up, so keep you ears pricked up.



Germany
Don't forget that on Wednesday (2nd June) the band will be on German TV's VIVA's 'Interaktiv' at 4.00 pm CET and later on Pro7's 'TV Total' at 10.15 pm CET.

German fans may also want to keep their eyes open for an interview on RTL 2's News. As well as that the band will be doing radio interviews for WDR 2, NRW, FFN, WAZ, SWR 3, HR 3, Antenne Bayern and Bayern 3.

Best of all they will be doing an unplugged set of 7 or 8 songs for Radio NRW with the fully recorded show being broadcast in the near future. Also, a few of the songs from the set are being filmed for ZDF's "Leute Heute" to be aired with an interview with the band.



South East Asia
The last little while has seen the band hard at work doing interviews and performances to promote ‘Borrowed Heaven’ in the Far East. As well as an interview and photo shoot for the Japanese edition of Harper’s Baazar, they helped out with Yahoo Japan’s environmental campaign ‘Green Cross Japan’. They also did TV interviews for MTV ASIA, Channel V, Indonesia’s RCTI, Myx in the Philippines, Thailand TV, Taiwan TV and Korea’s M-net.

If you are in Taiwan you should keep your eyes on the newsstands as the band did press interviews for Liberty Times, United Daily News, Apple Daily, Great Ent. News, Star News and Ming-Sheng Daily. They also did press interviews for Thailand’s Praew and Thairath, MTV Link in the Philippines, Malaysia’s Berita Harian and The Star, as well as talking to Indonesia’s Kompas, Hai and the Femina Group who publish Femina, Gadis, Seventeen and Cita Cinta.

On top of all this they even managed to squeeze in some radio interviews for Magic 89.9 in the Philippines, ERA FM in Malaysia and Jakarta’s Prambors.

But the most exciting event was the recording of an exclusive performance by the band that will hit the airwaves in Japan and South East Asia soon, so keep an eye on those TV listings.

IT'S bizarre to think Andrea Corr, once voted the most beautiful woman in the world, used to have an insecurity complex.
She admits it's only been the past few years when she's been able to walk the streets with her head raised.

While her shoe-gazing was partly a tactic to avoid being recognised, she has now discovered a new freedom by spending much of her time in Hollywood.

"I can get away from everything there," Andrea says. "LA is just movie-land. Music is only relevant when it's involved with a movie. That was very freeing."

Which is where the walking comes in. "I'd missed just walking around. What a wonderful thing it is to stare into somebody's face. I used to walk around with my head down and walk very fast. But to actually go slow, linger and look: that was a new thing for me."

Andrea's LA-woman period is, she clarifies, a necessity. Although she still has her house in Dublin, she's realising her dream to make movies.

Now added to a CV which includes Evita and The Commitments is a role alongside James Nesbitt and Colm Meaney in The Boys From County Clare.

She plays Anne, a "flirty, curious" girl who thinks "everything outside Ireland is exotic" amid a tale of vengeful brothers. "I have a deep interest in film, but I want to be very careful what I do," Andrea says.

"I don't like the idea of `singer turned actress'; it cringes me out. Yet I am going to do it for the reason that I feel I have to. I wouldn't be fully fulfilling myself if I didn't. But I want to do it secretly. I want people to watch me in a film and go, 'Did you know she's actually a singer?'"

Andrea now has an actor boyfriend, Boys co-star Shaun Evans, the object of the new Corrs song, Even If, and what she calls her "loved-up-ness".

Her stint in LA crossed over into her day job: lead singer with The Corrs. It's where she recorded her vocals for their new album, Borrowed Heaven.

Remember The Corrs? Thirty million album sales, re-introducing Irish music to the pop charts and a string of hits that prompted a best-of after just three studio albums.

In the four years since their last album, In Blue, The Corrs sisters Sharon and Caroline have married and Caroline has had a son, as well as all having some much-needed time away from one another.

"Every other side of our lives has had to take second place to the band, completely. And that's by our own choice and rightfully so," Andrea says.

"I don't think you can really succeed if you don't make it a vocation. It was time to do normal things. We've never been shy of working, but in our lives things have changed. We're all a little bit older. We do have to make room for individuality and for home lives, otherwise we'd go mad."

Andrea, now 30, was 15 when she was landed with the job as lead singer and lyricist.

"Our first album wasn't written with a very streetwise mind, it was with a mind that was coming from kids from a small town for who a day trip to Dublin was a big deal," she says.

"What's there to write about? An awful lot was based on imagination. I'm proud of some of the lyrics on that first album, like Forgiven Not Forgotten. The Right Time, now I'd probably do a bit of coughing over those lyrics."

The family decided to mix Irish music with electronics.

Jim Corr recalls: "I had Irish production programmed on this machine. That formed the basis of the Celtic influence of the Corrs."

That sound became their trademark but critics charged they sounded more West Coast American than Irish. The howls became louder when they co-wrote Breathless with Mutt Lange, Shania Twain's husband and producer.

"It wasn't done to get into the American market," Caroline says. "It was done to make the best record we could. You'd be stupid to turn that opportunity down. And Breathless was No.1 in 20 countries."

Borrowed Heaven finds the group striking a balance between their Irish roots and adult pop.

"When we write a song we don't sit down and go, 'OK, we have to put the Irish bit in now, where's the violin?'," Caroline says. "We do it more subtly now."

The album's title track was recorded in South Africa with Ladysmith Black Mambazo providing vocals.

"It lifted the hair on the back of your neck," Sharon says of recording it in Johannesburg. U2's Bono wrote Time Enough For Tears for the soundtrack to In America; Andrea recorded her vocals for it in one take.

Fame has been a strange concept for The Corrs. They're wildly famous but they don't play the celebrity game.

"We're very Irish in the way of privacy," Andrea says. "It's also why we don't go and bleed all over the magazines with our pain. We grew up with fame in our 20s; all our growing-up years. The problem is, people really believe the propaganda."

Says Caroline: "We've always seen fame as an illusion. Imagine when you're 50 or 60 and you're walking down the street and no one's looking at you, no one remembers who The Corrs were, someone barely remembers your song.

"If you keep that in mind that will keep you in the knowledge that it doesn't last forever. It doesn't, unless you're Cliff Richard."

One of the album's highlights is Angel, written by Andrea for her mother Jean, who died of a rare lung disease in 1999.

While Sharon has written a song, Goodbye, about "the fact there are no answers but I can't say goodbye or accept it", Andrea's has a more positive edge. Enter memories of her mother. The lyrics are a shout out to heaven.

"I suppose after the years that have gone by it's more of a song of acceptance. I've got a blind confidence that she's in heaven, I'm not even disputing it. I'm asking what it's like there, hoping they love her as much as we do."

Then there's Humdrum, where Andrea spits out the chorus: "I wanna take you for granted, drift while you're talking ... forget your birthday and shrink all your clothes."

"I had this vision of The Stepford Wives and it turned into a satire on marriage. The guys in the studio were like, 'What?'"

It's a song that may silence critics who accuse them of blandness ("we are a family band, we can't get away from what we are but that's not the whole picture", Sharon says), but Andrea isn't concerned.

"We chose this profession and everyone's a critic. That's the nature of music. I'm sorry if people hate it along the way. Actually, I'm not that sorry. Couldn't help it. Didn't do it to you on purpose."

Borrowed Heaven (Warner) is out on Monday.

Sorry I haven't been in touch in a while. Things have been extremely busy as
you can imagine. We're here in Cologne in Germany doing promotion and are
due to head back 2 Ireland tomorrow to continue rehearsals 4 the
forthcoming tour.

We are off to a GREAT start with this new album as you know from our post
earlier and we're VERY happy and excited. No.1 in the UK and Ireland and
No.3 in Germany in the midweek charts, this should rise in Germany due to all the promo we've done.
The actual chart will be available this weekend. We can only hope that the positions will hold.
You have all contributed to making this success possible and we thank you again!

We are so looking forward to the live show and I can't tell you how great
everything is sounding especially with the 2 new guys Jason Duffy
(drums/percussion) and Kieran Kiely (keyboards/guitar and accordian).
We are trying out lots of ideas to make it a special show. It's great to have
so many songs to choose from at this stage, you can only imagine how
difficult it was touring on the back of one album after "FNF" was released.
We're looking forward 2 the 1st show on the 19th in Bonn.
Caroline is getting bigger everyday and will continue with us 4
as long as she can and then will take a break so she can give birth to her new baby.
We are going to continue touring and are currently putting together
a more comprehensive tour so we can hopefully get 2 all 4 corners of the world.

We shoot the video 4 the next single "Angel" on the 12th in Ireland, it will be
in a beautiful setting and will be based around a performance video.
I thank you for your input in terms of the pole of the best songs on the album
and am glad to see that "Angel" is right up there as one of the most popular songs.
"Long Night" which was right up there as well will be single No.3!

We've recorded a few acoustic performances of the latest songs etc at various showcases
and I hope we can post these on the website 4 u all to upload soon!

But one BH World Tour date has already been 'announced':

They will perform in France, Paris in Bercy (like Shania ;) :D) on October 11th.... and if I'm not mistaken tickets are already on sale!!

So the European Leg will most likely be in October & November.... with an Australasian Tour next and if the summer North American Tour is a succes, they'll most likely return to the US & Canada....:)

(And perhaps they'll also tour in South-America this time.... we just have to wait and see....:))

Only one thing I'm worried about.... Since Caroline's baby is due in October, it's very possible she won't be at the first shows (or perhaps not until January)....:( :sad:

And you have to make some adjustments.... you cannot trust 'auto' for concerts....:)

Just put the cam on one of the manual setting and try to do the stuff I listed....it's not too hard (use the manual of you want to ;))....

Well I think Angel isn't really suited for the US (not now anyway, not after SS), so releasing Long Night late August/early September is definately a good choice....:)
(Though I prefer a later date, near X-Mas..... but then they'll be in the World Tour, so this is okay too)

La música se apoderó ayer de la noche mallorquina, en una confluencia de astros que estuvo encabezada por el grupo irlandés The Corrs, y en la que tuvieron también cabida el mambo de Cachao López, el blues de John Mayall y el rock de Mago de Öz.
Los hermanos Corr ofrecieron en la plaza de toros de Palma -que ayer celebraba su 75 cumpleaños- uno de los grandes conciertos del presente verano. Unos 7.000 espectadores, según la organización, acudieron al último concierto de la gira europea del grupo, en el que presentaron su último trabajo de estudio, Borrowed heaven.
La banda irlandesa realizó durante cerca de dos horas un repaso de su extensa discografía que entusiasmó al público. Los temas que les lanzaron al estrellato, como Forgiven not forgotten o Runaway, compartieron protagonismo con algunas canciones tradicionales de su país de origen que animaron a los allí presentes a dejar de lado las sillas para ponerse a bailar. También ofrecieron una serie de temas en versión acústica.
El embajador de Irlanda en Madrid, Declan O´Donovan; y el cónsul en Palma de ese país, Pedro Pablo Marrero, no quisieron perderse tampoco la actuación de The Corrs.
Además de poner punto final a sus actuaciones en Europa, el concierto sirvió para despedir por unos meses a Caroline, la batería del grupo, que próximamente será madre.
Asimismo, este primer concierto de The Corrs en Mallorca significó el regreso de la banda a la isla, toda vez que Deià fue el lugar escogido por Caroline para contraer matrimonio con su actual marido, el empresario inmobiliario Frank Woods, el 22 de agosto de 2002. Tras el enlace, la pareja ha decidido construirse una casa en esta población de la Serra de Tramuntana.
La batería de The Corrs aseguró en la rueda de prensa, que tuvo lugar en el hotel Maricel, que "Mallorca es un lugar muy bonito" y que sigue viniendo con regularidad a la isla. "Aquí me siento un poco como en casa", explicó.
El grupo comentó que el público español "se expresa más fácilmente que el resto" y que en sus conciertos en nuestro país se nota la "pasión" de los presentes. Asimismo, destacaron la comida, el vino y la arquitectura como las cosas que más les gustan de España.
Borrowed Heaven es el último trabajo de estudio de estos hermanos irlandeses. Con más de 30 millones de ejemplares vendidos en todo el mundo, el disco pretende transmitir "optimismo" y ha supuesto un "nuevo inicio" en la carrera de The Corrs tras el lanzamiento de un recopilatorio de grandes éxitos. "Está especialmente dedicado a nuestra madre, sobretodo las canciones Angel y Goodbye". En el disco han contado con la colaboración de Bono, Gavin Bryars y Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
Pese a confesar que hay ciertas discusiones entre ellos, los Corr afirmaron que la convivencia entre ellos es buena. "Intentamos respetarnos y dejar cierta distancia entre nosotros para mantener las individualidades", comentaron.
Tras el concierto de ayer, el grupo pone hoy mismo rumbo a América, según explicaron ellos mismos. La gira mundial continuará el próximo 2 de agosto en Vancouver (Canadá), en un concierto que contará ya con la presencia del sustituto de Caroline.

I am sorry Mathias but the article says that was the last Caroline´s concert because of her pregnancy. They will go to America and in the first concert (2 Aug) Caroline will already have a substitute. :cry:
It´s a long article, but I can tell you more about it if you want.
It talks about Caroline was married in that island and the marriage has bought a house there where they spend some time. She says she feel a bit like home when she´s there.

Setlist of the Tour is the same as in Europe.... there are only a few (small) corrections because our beloved Caroline isn't there.....

-No Frontiers is still in the list, and performed by Sharon only.

The band will perform a special orchestrated set to celebrate the Last Night of the Proms.
