I....I....have some bad news.... :uhh:
The 2nd (and last) Swiss date has also been removed from the site.... :dunno:
So no concert dates in Switzerland (yet) at the moment....
But I can only give 2 explanations:
1) It's has been cancelled and the deal is off....
2) It's not 100% sure yet, 'coz the official press conference (announcing the artists etc.) is on April 22th; 2 months away....
So they'll probably wait until then....:)
I'm very sorry and hope everything will turn out okay! :)

02-26-2004, 2:13pm
Good news!!
Someone mailed the Official Site and asked them about the Switzerland date and he got a positive reply;
He was told that the reason the dates were removed was because ticket sales hadn't started yet (and won't be starting yet in the near future).... But when they do, it'll be put back on the site! :great:
So that means those concerts are still going through only you have to wait a bit longer (for ticket sales)....:)

Spanish sites...We´re always late:funny: It´s weird they doesn´t have anything about Sting or the big summer concert on Benidorm that will bring Latins singers for the human cause...They are not making very promo about that and it will be a huge moment for Alicante. I think even more than when last year went the Rolling Stones..
Anyway, like I said before, the best thing if some spanish is interested on that concert (like Silvi can be, because it´s close to Valencia) is going to the store and ask for it. If you are lucky maybe you don´t ask to the incompetent shop assistant that always appear when you do really want something or you don´t have a lot of time to go shopping...:funny::p

Benidorm atrae a The Corrs

Su segundo disco es Talk On Corners , que fue editado en 1998, obteniendo una gran aceptación sus canciones “Only When I Sleep”, “Don’t Say You Love Me” y “I Never Loved You Anyway”, entre otras.
Tanto Sting como The Corrs traen nuevo material recién editado.

Sting, Bob Dylan and The Corrs, confirmed this summer in Benidorm
consistorio and Mundosenti2 still
they negotiate the arrival of Prince to the delay of his European tour and the performances will go of the Bullring to Foietes if the TRUTH is demand
THE TRUTH/ BENIDORM
ImprimirEnviar the singers Sting and Bob Dylan and the group
The Corrs will act this summer in Benidorm, city that continues strengthening its position in the international market as destiny of great concerts, according to it commented the organizing company yesterday, Mundosenti2.
The three concerts will be offered in the bullring of Benidorm, in case of not being sold more than 10,000 entrances, although if this number is surpassed will be celebrated in the football ground of Foietes, enclosure in that already artists like The Rolling Stones acted, Elton John and Luis Miguel.
The ex- leader and vocalista of the missing group The Police, who will also act in Barcelona, it will present/display next the 3 of June in Benidorm thirteen subjects of Sacred Love, disc published the past month of September.
The trajectory of Sting is laid out of recognitions, like the recent award that received in the last edition of the Grammy.
Faithful to its commitment with the medio.ambiente, Sting will yield, according to the person in charge of Mundosenti2, Lorenzo Perez, "euro of the 35 that costs the entrance of the concert to the Foundation Terra Natura", created with the intention of promoting and contributing to the conservation, investigation and education of the surroundings.
On the other hand, Benidorm will receive 9 from July to Bob Dylan, whose performance was initially predicted for September of 2003.
Living and cantautor myth par excellence, it will show live its characteristic way to conceive music, after forty years on the scenes and dozens of discs in direct study
and.
Popular
According to the critical, its influence in the pop music is incalculable and goes from pop to the rock & roll, folk-rock or country-rock.
The concert of the Irish brothers The Corrs will take July place the
15 and will serve to present/display its last work Borrowed Heaven, that it will see the light in May.
They follow in the line which they were marked from its beginnings
like band in the decade of the 90, with a mixture of Irish folk music, pop and music celta.
"The one of Benidorm will be one of both concerts that The Corrs will offer in Spain, since it is a group that does not extend much by the country ", the person in charge of Mundosenti2 declared, promoter of the concert.
The mayor of Benidorm, Vicente Perez Devesa, it indicated that "it still lacks to confirm the concert of Prince, that he is pending to organize its European tour ", and one was convinced that "all the concerts will be celebrated in Foietes" and of that will be sold more than 20,000 entrances. The City council has wanted to in advance announce the dates of the main musical acts of the summer so that "tour operators can include in their packages of vacations the entrance of the concerts and obtain therefore a greater promotion from the city at international level", it explained the regidor.
The performances of Sting, Bob Dylan and The 46664 Corrs is added to Latin, the beneficial concert against AIDS that promotes the Foundation Nelson Mandela and that will take place in the stage of Foietes de Benidorm the 21 of August.

Here is the Corrs schedule according to Pollstar. I see they will be in the States but not Canada. :(
Hold your breath....;) :) Dates are still being announced at this moment....:)
So it's quite possible! Besides.... Summer Sunshine has already been heard on on the radio in Toronto (Chum FM), so there's a chance (very likely) they'll do at least one gig there....:)
Speaking of concerts, they just added a concert in London, UK!
It's on June 21st, 2004 in the Hammersmith Odeon in London - England

Hmm... I know someone who isn't happy
Yes, that would be me!! I think if they went so far as to sell tickets, they have an obligation to follow through and uphold their end of the bargain. As far as I am concerned, ill health is the only acceptable reason to cancel out. And we know it isn't that because the Toronto concert is still on.
Well, if I don't hear a persuasive reason for the cancellation, I have bought my last Corrs CD and certainly won't be tempted by another Corrs concert in the future.
Way to break into a new market, guys!!
Roger

Ah, greatness!
Ah, first concert? Cool!!! I wish they'd announce a concert in Finland or Sweden, but they haven't added any lately... so I don't know if I'll ever see them live
Still no explanations to Canadian fans as to why they cancelled concerts in Ottawa, Edmonton and Calgary. How rude!
It will be a frosty Friday in July before I even play a Corrs CD again.
Roger
As far as I know, no reasons given for rescheduling the Shania concerts either back then. Does that mean you are not listening to any Shania cds either? :p
Well it was a superb concert last night.
They were so professional, the new songs from the new album got a great response, and they performed the majority of their greatest hits. Andrea was great, she reminded me a lot of Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac, very "floaty"!!! It was almost like being at an Irish Wedding party!!! It had a great Irish feel to it, especially being in Liverpool.......a real party atmosphere with everyone dancing jumping and singing.
Caroline did really well being so heavily pregnant, each of the girls sang solo at one point. Sharon looked amazing, very feminine and wearing a stunning dress. Andrea wore a red dress and was barefoot the whole night!!! Jim was there too, I can't remember what he was wearing.........it was interesting because this concert was a year to the day after Shania's Hyde Park concert, and again when "Breathless" was performed I was hearing a Mutt Lange song one year after listening to Mutt Lange songs.....!!! I think this guy must be pretty good.......
All in all a wonderful night!!! I recommend ANYONE to see them. Roger, I hope they reschedule those dates for you, please don't hold it against them! I'm sure there was a reason for them cancelling. I really think you would love to see them. Trust me!!! The Corrs are such great musicians and it was just such a great party atmosphere.......my advice to anyone thinking about seeing them would be just GO!!!
Paul:)

According the Ottaway Sun (?) the official reason is promoting commitments in Europe.... that seems to be the most logical reason....
The next is Angel and it's being released at the end of this month or next month.... and if they keep touring till September, they can't promote the song.... which is badly needed for the album's performance....
So we'll see....:( But I have no doubt they will definately come back next year, after Australasia....:)
It seems that The Corrs caused quite a stir last night......the Liverpool Echo gave them a magnificent 9/10 rating!!! They liked the way Andrea said that "Liverpool is not a sit-down city"!!!!!
Paul:)
As far as I know, no reasons given for rescheduling the Shania concerts either back then. Does that mean you are not listening to any Shania cds either? :p
It seems to me simple courtesy to people who have bought tickets to explain why a concert has been rescheduled or cancelled. Lots of people arrange holidays and make reservations for flights and accommodation based on having bought tickets (as you know Marika). If Shania did not explain why in your case, she should have. Of course I am still listening to Shania's CDs. In the first place, she did not reschedule any concert I had bought tickets for. In the second place, I already knew as you did the reason for the rescheduling. But she should have left word with her ticketseller as to the reason.
BTW Shania did cancel a scheduled Ottawa concert back in 1998. The day the Ottawa concert was announced, it made page 3 in the Ottawa Citizen complete with a huge picture. Two days later they cancelled but did explain that the Ottawa date was a mistake. I saw what had happened. They added a second Toronto date by cancelling the Ottawa one. But Shania's tour manager did grant an interview with the Citizen right after and promised Shania would return and play Ottawa. She did in March 1999. To make up for the earlier cancellation, she scheduled two concerts in a row.
Roger
Oh, I agree that a reason should be given. But the other things you mentioned seem over-reacting, especially now in the light of your Shania concert story. That didn't keep you away from her music.
And I think it's weird you would not get upset if others would not be told about their cancellations/reschedulings, only if you yourself have been affected.
Just seems weird, that's all.
According the Ottaway Sun (?) the official reason is promoting commitments in Europe.... that seems to be the most logical reason....
This is an unsatisfactory explanation.
1) when tickets for a concert have already been sold, as was the case for the Ottawa concert, the ticketseller should be able to explain to those who had bought tickets. Ticketbuyers are most likely to ask them. An announcement in the paper may not be noticed. Today Ticketmaster Customer Relations had no information as to the reason for the cancellation.
2) for the ticket promotion explanation to sound likely, there has to be enough time for them to do this in Europe. Here is the Corrs concert schedule before and after Ottawa:
Aug. 28 - Boston
Aug. 30 - Toronto
Aug. 31 - London (now also cancelled)
Sept. 2 - Ottawa (now cancelled)
Sept. 3 - Montreal
It seems unlikely they would go back to Europe in the middle of a North American tour. Excluding days for travel there would only be one full day for promotion in Europe.
Give me a break! If this is their official explanation, it is not truthful.
Roger

Not weird. We knew all along the reason for the reschedulings in Europe. Ill health is a good reason to cancel or postpone. I did not know you had not been told the reason for the postponement.

RogerNo, in light of your earlier Shania Ottawa cancellation story this strong reaction seems strange (I see an contradiction) to me, sorry for the confusion.
Thanks for the review and pics Paul

I hope you do one day, its a really memorable show. The drum duel was fantastic!!! :D The tour programme is also pretty good, Mutt gets a mention in there too.
Paul:)Oh, what does it say about him?
"The Corrs have mastered the art of doing things that are sufficiently sweet and refreshing to garnish the sought-after plays from conservative programmers, while also being sufficiently distinctive and finely wrought as pieces of music, to stand well apart from the mass of what is deemed acceptable by radio programmers in general. It came as no surprise, then, when Breathless - written by Andrea with producer Mutt Lange, and which featured on the In Blue album - became the most played track on radio in the US in 2000."
Just part of the programme notes, not that much mentioned about Mutt really, but enough to get me excited!!! It's a nice programme, big and glossy full of stunning photos. Although not quite like the Shania UP! programme.

They will be in the US after the last European date (Mallorca) on July 21st.... and are slated to perform @ the Today Show on July 23rd and doing other promowork in the US (/Canada).... they'll have to resume promoting in Europe after the NA leg....

As you can see they just added another gig in Holland!!!! :D:great::up:
I'm soooo happy! Didn't see that one coming at all! :D
Now I'm still going to 3 so that equals with Shania! :great:
It's strange concerning the date though.... the one in Zurich, Switzerland was supposed to be on the 30th....
So I don't know if it's cancelled or rescheduled.... omg.... my back account is going aaaall the way down!
But like Andrea sings in 'Confidence For Quiet'.... "I don't caaaare!" :p :great:
So you can see more dates will be announced....:)
eek
i prefer them irish :D
why did they cancel almost all canadian dates?
i wanna go to lyon too...or amnéville (i have no idea where this town is but well...:funny: )....gosh...:nervous:

No official reason(s) given....but probably due to a combination of low ticket sales and promotional commitments....
(low ticket sales isn't the case with most of the dates.... 2 of them were even sold-out!)
But they'll most likely be back next year....it's probably bad planning.... :scowl:
LOL!! Lyon is far down! ;)
Btw, I recently checked were Amneville is, and that place is just below Luxemburg! It's just above Metz.... (though it's a weird choice! lol) :)

I must say I have seen no promotion whatsoever about the Corrs now cancelled concert in Ottawa. Certainly, all National Arts Centre patrons will have heard about the concert through the NAC's regular updates but most of the NAC crowd are classical music buffs who would not go to see the Corrs. If you wanna sell tickets, you gotta let people know you are coming. Also the NAC is a very small venue, only about 2200 seats in Southam Hall. There are larger venues in this area they could have chosen and they were available.
Cancelling shows, especially when they have already sold tickets, is not a good way to impress the people who otherwise would have been the most likely people to go to another concert. It feels as though the Corrs have treated us with contempt when in fact it may have been simple incompetence. I probably won't bother going to see the Corrs if they do come back this way again. Their treatment of fans in this area, whether by design or incompetence, has been shabby.

Since this is their 1st NA tour, it's only logical to start at the small venues.... And what you just said is also the problem.... there has been no promotion whatsoever (not until late this month), so that was already a problem....
They should've promoted the gigs earlier or do them later.... In some cities sales went extremely well, but in a few others they were mediocre....
So I think they'll be back next year.... First they'll be promoting the album and gigs for 2 weeks in the US(/Canada), then proceed to perform, then head back to Europe to have a little break, after that start the European Leg of the World Tour (without Caroline), a little break, then head to Asia & Australia and after that.... we don't know....
Jim said they're planning 'to go 2 all 4 corners in the world'.... so perhaps South America & North America will be included too....:) We'll see....

I agree....it's not good for them and it's not good for the that bought tickets.... I think they over or underestimated the sales in NA and are going to do a different approach...but John should really watch out now.... He has been very good for/with them since the start, but it seems that's not the case anymore.... :scowl:

Hey Carolina you're most welcome!!!
Are you going to try and get tickets for the Madrid concert? I recommend seeing them very highly!!!
I can't believe how much they travelled this week, Paris, London, Liverpool and now Spain all in 4 days.
Paul:)
Yep and Portugal as well:)
I have been searching all ways to go to the concert but the Madrid concert hasn´t been prepared as good as in the other spanish cities. Here is more expensive and not in the center of Madrid so I won´t have the chance to go this time to their concert:(
I cannot complain I went last week to other 2 concerts! :funny:

Yes, that would be me!! I think if they went so far as to sell tickets, they have an obligation to follow through and uphold their end of the bargain. As far as I am concerned, ill health is the only acceptable reason to cancel out. And we know it isn't that because the Toronto concert is still on.
Well, if I don't hear a persuasive reason for the cancellation, I have bought my last Corrs CD and certainly won't be tempted by another Corrs concert in the future.
Way to break into a new market, guys!!
Roger
Hi Roger! I know how disappointed you are. You sounded very happy about this when we talked about it. I take it they won't do something for you. I just bought and watched their DVD from 1998, "Live At The Royal Albert Hall." It was good. I see they are coming to Boston too. Better luck next time. Remember it could have been worse, it could have been Shania which for me would be very depressing if that happened.

Wow really? I haven´t heard anything here yet. That would be great:) Although I could not go either to Bilbao:funny:
Well I have a little picture of Andrea yesterday in Santiago de Compostela:)
There were more than 25.000 people watching The Corrs:D They started saying Buenas noches Santiago= (Good Night Santiago:p) at 23.00 pm. The review says that the most special moment of all the night was when The Corrs sang Borrowed Heaven and said that the song was dedicated to her mother died last year because of a cancer

According to Chart Attack Canada, the Halifax and St. John's shows were canceled because of poor ticket sales....
(Though it's still a bit strange because the Ontario show was sold out....  )

Atlantic Buzz: Some Shows Nixed, Other Shows Kick
Friday July 23, 2004 @ 02:00 PM
By: ChartAttack.com Staff
Toronto isn't the only place that suffers from cancelled shows. With the recent announcement of the Toronto Bluesfest's demise, along with the death of Lollapalooza, three big East Coast shows have suffered a similar fate. The Corrs, who were scheduled to perform in Halifax and St. John's, NL on September 5 and 8, have backed out due to poor ticket sales, and the Rock The Island festival, scheduled for August 1 in Alexandra, PEI has also been nixed for the same reason. Unfortunately, this means that Train, Fountains Of Wayne, Five For Fighting and Default won't be dining on fine island potatoes this year.
--------------------------------------
Unfortunately bad/low ticket sales is a trend in North America at the moment.... :uhh: :scowl: And unfortunately The Corrs are affected too (couldn't be at a worser time! :()....
Oh well, perhaps they'll return later on their world tour....:)

More dates as they're announced....:)
Well, I took my two pairs of tickets for the Corrs Ottawa concert back to Ticketmaster and got my refund today. I asked the girls behind the counter why most of the Canadian dates had been cancelled and they said they were told because they conflict with the European tour. This is obviously untrue if you look at their itinerary. I spoke with a TM rep on the phone and they said that the decision to cancel the Canadian dates came from the Corrs themselves and it had nothing to do with ticket sales because sales had been good. So the Corrs decided to pull the plug but did not have the decency to give us a reason.
When Keith Urban cancelled a series of Canadian dates last year, he gave a reason (voice problems) and promised to return. He did six months later. And they honoured our original tickets.
Result: I will buy more of Keith's CDs and go to more of his concerts. I will be damned if I will do the same for the Corrs.

Well.... you could say the same for Shania.... also no reason givin'.... and I'm sure it came from The Corrs themselves, and I certainly don't approve of the cancellations though I can see where they're coming from....
Angel (/the 2nd single) was planned for a later release date, but it was hanged to late August/early September.... And in order for them to promote the song (and everyone knows promotion is very important) they just had to cancel some dates....and some of those didn't sell very well either....
And I agree they really need to figure out their priorities.I know cancelling gigs like that is unacceptable, but they can't drop their established succes for one that isn't being very much succesful at the moment.... The Corrs have been away from the other side of the world for 2 long and it's been 4 months since the latest & first single, far too late! :scowl:
If they continued in NA, they're chance for BH becoming a 'bestseller' would be nihil. They really need to focus on their established 'fanbase' and go and 'explore' new ones later when they have enough time for it (again, bad planning).... it's hard, but that's just how it's got to be.
But rest assured.... they will be back. And that's from their mouth's too.
They'll definately back early next year. Either before the Australasian leg, or after. And don't cloud your judgement because of something like this. You didn't do the same with Shania. And I know you're a bigger fan of hers, but that doesn't matter in this case. If you really want to know why, wait till they come back and ask John Hughes himself. And believe me.... don't trust what the venue itself says, because it's different each time. Frankly, they don't know the real reasons either....
It's really a shame you're thinking this way.... it's not as if you're flying all the way from the UK....It's not as you have spent thousands of dollars on plane tickets + hotel costs. It's not as if it's life threatening.... Fans from Europe were flying in to Canada to attend a few gigs.... well, they 'just' accepted it and went to another one.... Of course they didn't approve of it, but what else can you.....
Anyway. it's your choice of course, but I think you're taking this a bit too far.... (I mean; what would the people of the Memphis gig say? Remember that one?) But good you had a refund.... now you can broaden your Keith Urban collection.... :smirk:
Well.... you could say the same for Shania.... also no reason givin'.... and I'm sure it came from The Corrs themselves, and I certainly don't approve of the cancellations though I can see where they're coming from....

Well, we all know why Shania cancelled some of her European concerts and she did go back later to make up for it. We don't know why the Corrs cancelled and we don't know if they will be back. So if they renege without explanation why do they deserve loyalty? Not explaining shows a contempt for the fans who bought tickets. The onus is on them to explain not on me to try to find out.
I did not follow the Memphis thing so can't comment.

True....but if you believe their word why they were cancelled you surely have to believe their word that they'll be back....
And yeah.... we knew....why? Because we're her fans.... but what about the non-fans? Or the ones who are a big fan of one artist and a bit of another....like yours?
And you surely know about the Memphis show.... wasn't Shania supposed to give one late November '03? Wasn't that one mysteriously rescheduled & cancelled? Was there any reason given? No....
(if you count 'due to her tv special' as a reason)
Every artists/management have their flaws and problems. And till last month, The Corrs have NEVER cancelled gigs.... never.... not even with a good explanation. If you read the interviews with them back in late 2000/early 2001, when Andrea got an ear-infection. Well that was their very first time they had to reschedule shows, so this is the first time they had to cancel concerts. And I'm sure you'll get your official explanation in the near future....

Well, if they do at some point explain why they cancelled a show for which they had already sold tickets, I will feel a lot better about them. But if they don't, it doesn't much matter to me. I won't miss them.

From the Ischgl site (http://is0.info/portal/content/2001/index.php?act=CONTENT&site=10201&cssFile=winter.css&lang=SPA&type=1):
the corrs - live in ischgl!
The beautiful and stylish ski resort of Ischgl, in the Austrian Tirol, is set to launch an exciting 2004-2005 ski season with the announcement that top band The Corrs will perform the winter opening concert on Saturday 27 November. The resort has a gloriously long five month season, thanks to its high altitude of 1,377metres, and a great reputation for big name concerts to open and close the winter activities. Ischgl has many devoted fans, who return year after year, but is also attracting new skiers and boarders keen to share the excitement on and off the slopes. This winter marks the 75th anniversary of the Ischgl Tourist Office and also the Ischgl Ski School.
The Corrs
The first day of skiing for the 04-05 season will end with a spectacular open air concert by The Corrs. This chart-topping group are currently on tour in North America and the Ischgl venue will round off a European tour by the four members of the Corr family - Andrea, Sharon, Caroline and Jim – who are from Dundalk, Southern Ireland. Their latest single, Angel , from the successful album Borrowed Heaven jumped straight into the top 20 of the UK charts in the first week of release. The Corrs have sold 30 million records around the world and it is an endorsement of Ischgls status that they are performing the opening concert. "We are thrilled to make this announcement," said Ischgls Tourist Director, Andreas Steibl. "This will be a really great concert to start another great season for Ischgl." The Corrs join a roll call of top names to have performed in Ischgl – recent stars include Ronan Keating, Enrique Iglesias, Peter Gabriel, Amici Forever, The Sugababes, Sting, Rod Stewart and Sir Elton John.
------------
So it seems the gig in Ischgl will be their last one for the European Leg....
(but I have to say, it's really a beautiful place to end it! :D)

From the Official Site (http://www.thecorrswebsite.com/news/sept04/sept23.htm):
http://www.thecorrswebsite.com/images/news/sept04/myslovitz.gif
The next leg of the European tour kicks off in early October and opening for the band from the 11th until November 8th will be Myslovitz. One of the most successful bands in Poland, their melodic, melancholic, guitar orientated music is complemented by the distinctive voice of their lead vocalist. Their live performances, polished through years of constant touring, has led to them being compared by journalists to the likes of Radiohead, Placebo, Travis and Coldplay.
Touring since 2002 they have dazzled audiences with their performances at the best European summer festivals, as well as successfully opening for Simple Minds on their European Tours. This summer they continued to promote their album, “Korova Milky Bar”, and now is your chance to see them live. For more info check out their English and Polish website: www.myslovitz.pl.

There's still room between France and Portugal and they could still do some shows in December (if there's any request for it)....:)
And maybe they'll do another leg in Europe at the end of the tour.... some kind of homecoming....:) But we'll see....
