View Full Version : A Grammy Nomination
Just wanted to say that the Corrs have been nominated for 2 grammys.
Below is the category and the people they are running against.
Best Pop Performance by a duo ir Group with Vocal----------------------------------------
The Backstreet Boys' "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely"
'NSYNC's "Bye Bye Bye" for Best
Steely Dan's - "Cousin Dupree,"
Barenaked Ladies' "Pinch Me"
The Corrs'- "Breathless"
They got some tough competition but I think they'll win. The Academy wasn't to kind to boybands this year! 'N Sync wasn't even nominated for album of the year! Although i didn't like the album I thought it would atleast be nominated due to the 9 million + albums sales they got. They were also nominated for an instrumental award for "Rebel Heart". I think they'll win that because that's a really pretty song!

All I can say is that it's about time!!! I am so happy for them http://www.shaniaforums.com/smile.gif These two Grammy nominations are long overdue! I can't imagine how they could be put into the same category with lightweights like BSB. The Corrs' music is unquestionably superior! The nominations will also help to garner extra exposure for them here http://www.shaniaforums.com/smile.gif Does anyone know whether or not they will be attending? I heard that they will touring Asia early this year. It would be ashame if they couldn't be there.
I would hope so! After all, these are the GRAMMYS!! And if they could attend a dumb award show like "VH1 My Music Awards" Than, this one, will it won't be hard. I don't know if you live in the states heather, I think you do but im not sure. The Backstreet Boys and Nsync are quite big, and even though Backstreet is getting KILLED by the beatles, they are sitll doing quite well. I think boybands have been getting annoying lately. I mean, they're's so many of them!!! bbmak, hanson, bsb, nsync, souldecision,98*,plus one etc. Tons of them!! And now they are getting into this girl group stuff. I must admit I kind of like Dream and their new song, but still I know they are going to get quite old. Hopefully the academy will get some sense knocked into them and think that the Corrs are the best choice, I think they are atleast. And i'm sorry shania-spain. I didn't write that first post too well. I found one, then I went back and found another so I had to edit it. I couldn't change the title, so I was stuck.

I'm so proud of Sharon! Go girl, your "Rebel Heart" will win a Grammy and all the world will know what a wonderful composer you are!
This would mean so much to me, even more than the Grammy for "Breathless"! Sharon hasn't seemed to be herself lately and this would make her happy! I want her to be happy! http://www.shaniaforums.com/smile.gif

I don't think they will attend the awards!!! That's really sad because the Grammies are the most important music awards (aren't they?) and probably the best chance to make their dream come true and conquer America!!!

In the past, when on stage, Sharon always smiled and waved to the audience and she seemed to have a really good time. Now she always has her eyes closed and she's staring into the air. I hope she's alright though. There was some really stupid rumour about her some weeks ago, someone on a German messageboard said that he heard that ShaSha tried to kill herself. I really hope this was rubbish!

Sharon attempting suicide? I don't think so. Sharon has always struck me as a very strong person, not one who would give up on her loved ones and the life that she has built. I think that their mother's death has been very hard on each of them. People over at Corrsonline are always speculating about Andrea's behavior and how it is linked to her mother's passing. If anything Sharon has probably become more introspective since that time. I am certain that losing anyone close to you is tough. The death of a parent is sort of like the end of innocence for many people. It's obvious from what I have read that they were very close to her. But, Sharon is a smart woman. I think that if she were having problems with depression that she would seek help and she certainly would have the support of her family and her fiancee http://www.shaniaforums.com/smile.gif

First of all: I don't think Sharon really tried to commit suicide! But:
Sometimes those people who seem to be the strongest aren't. Sometimes people hide behind a mask. Sometimes when in such a situation, people don't think of their loved ones. Sometimes doing something "stupid" is the only intelligent thing to do.
But sometimes people are very lucky to have someone who can see behind their mask and I hope if Sharon or anyone else doesn't feel good they have such a person. A person like Carol, Slope, Tinker or MONICA.

Yes, the Grammys are THE biggest award in America.
Winning a Grammy can increase an artist's popularity and sales of up to 30%!
I really hope they do win at least one Grammy, cause it's about time they make it big over here! I really do feel that 2001 is going to be their year to make it. And it's about time that someone puts those boy bands in their place, which is out of the spotlight, of course. http://www.shaniaforums.com/smile.gif
Did you see the charts last week? The boybands got POUNDED!! I am getting sick of them though. Oh, and my dad got my the Corrs Unplugged cd, the australasian edition with Dreams as the bonus track. I'm quite impressed. They do a good job! Anyways, I think the corrs are a unique band. I mean Breathless and Irrestable have gotten litterally NO airplay. But the album is still doing good! The Corrs will defanately be around for a while!
