I just learned of the new audio dvd format which record companies are going to begin releasing music on the other day. Supposedly they will have better sound than CD's and some artists will be recording their music expecially for the audio DVD's since they are supposed to have that great surround sound which most DVD movies have.

Anyway, I see on Amazon.com that the Corrs' In Blue album is to be released January 30th in this format and I wanted to know if any of you know anything about it? I wonder if they recorded their album so that the sound will be enhanced signifigantly on audio DVD. By that same token, I also wonder if Shania and Mutt will record her next CD with some nice surround sound (5.1 audio for example). I hope so?

Any of you know anything about the Corrs audio DVD?

Yes I've heard about that audio DVD thing, but that's all I know. How does it work and is it like a CD? I mean, do you need a new player for it? Or can you play it on the DVD-player???

I believe you can play them on anything that plays DVD's like your DVD player or a DVD-ROM. I'm curious to hear one and compare it with a CD.

Ive tried to put one in a normal cd-player, but that doesnt work. So I guess you really need a dvd-player.

Many older DVD players may need to be upgraded to support the new DVD Audio format but most new players should support it.

In fact, there are two rival medias : the Super Audio CD by Philips and sony which can be played by traditoinnal CD players... And the DVD audio who will offer a best sound than the CD audio.
But, it is very stupid because the CD sound quality is already over than the maximum level reached by the human ear (do you understand me ?)
So, why a new media ? ($$$$$$ of course !)

i agree, although I have a DVD player, i think it would be very inconvienent, and more expensive for individuals. You couldn't take it anywhere!
