View Full Version : The REAL Slim Shady
MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE, WILL THE REAL SLIM SHADY PLEASE STAND UP?? These are words that have been heard all over the world when Eminems hit "The Real Slim Shady" smashed into radio. I would like to know what is your opinion on the controversial rapper? Do you admire him for what he does? Do you hate him? Are you his #1 fan? This is something I would like to know. If you don't live in America you probably haven't heard to much of him. But here he is a highly talked about character. What's your opinion?

We hear a lot about him here as well!!! And it's not my intention to shock any of you, but I REALLY REALLY LIKE HIM!!! I didn't before, but ever since I've heard "Stan" I think he's great!
Go Eminem!!! http://www.shaniaforums.com/wink.gif
~Manu~
I listen to all kinds of music which includes rap but I'm not really intrested in his music.
The background music from the "Stan" song is taken from a track by Dido and her album "No Angel." I do think some of her stuff is pretty good.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. I'm fed up of him. You can never find a Shania poster here but can find about 9 or so of him. That is so annoying http://www.shaniaforums.com/frown.gif
Yeah, I know what you mean ben. He seems to get so much publicity for all the bad things he says/does while Shania's good work seems to go unnoticed in the mainstream press.

Well, i for one don't like him. Although i do like rap, just not his type. When he messed with my girl christina aguilera http://www.shaniaforums.com/wink.gif that kind of turned me off. I liked his song with Dr. Dre but that's about it. I agree with ben though. He gets too much publicity for the stuff he does. It is bad music. And several tracks on the Marshall Mathers LP are not worth listening to. And as for his latest single, "Stan" if you hear the original version of the song I don't think you would like him. I mean do you really wanna hear a song about some one who chopped up his wife and the baby too and shoved them in the trunk???? Well, that's my opinion of the man. Sorry for those of you who like him, but I don't.

I`ve never really liked Eminem, he has always seemed like a very odd individual to me, based on his songs..
It is also surprising to me that he gets more publicity than Shania in some places, but I guess it is the fact that he is so controversal that makes things that way. People tend to remember the things that really shock them, regardless of whether they like them or not..

I don't like him at all. He bases his career on bashing others and when others bash him he gets all upset. I am surprised he has not bashed Shania yet. I also am not a big fan of rap but for some reason I just dislike him the most.

i don't have an opinion towards him, one way or the other. although i think some of his songs and music videos are a little... sick, i still think he's talented.

yeah i agree with you. Although we do have free speach in america, i think that's a little over stepping your bounds. Really, if you like him just because he's funny, than that's one thing. But if you like him for what he really stands for that's something totally different. People do have strong opinions about him. And some people have sued him because of it. His own mom sued him! Well, i guess if that's the type of life he wants, than let it be.

Can we end this topic?
Altough I usually don´t like rap I like his songs! (Not him, that´s another thing...)
I think "Stan" is a very good song!
Although the lyrics could be a little less violent. "Stan" does have a good message. Don't take everything I (eminem) say seriously.
Sorry to get off the subjectd but... I was watching some VH1 special and it had the Goo Goo Dolls on tv and the lead singer called Shania something he shouldn't have said. Like he said, she's so good, that _____. I couldn't believe it!

Exactly Darren! His success is based on the bad things he does and says, not on the good ones (if there are any http://www.shaniaforums.com/wink.gif). But I do think his songs, or some of them, really have a message.
I think people are just fascinated by THE BAD!!! Me included.
Well...

Manu:
yeah, people are kind of weird that way. You know what would be really weird? If eminem were to come and apologize for everything he's ever said! Now, that wouldn't happen, but if that did, that would be interesting.
Andrew:
The Goo Goo dolls, who are one of my favourite groups meant that in a good way. They just intertwine cuss words with the way they talk. They would say "She's so *beep* good! And that doesn't mean anything bad, it's just they way they talk.

I have sort of a split opine on "The Real Slim Shady". I love the way he incoporated Dido into "Stan". Sometimes, I find myself laughing at some of the things that he has written (I stress the words SOME OF). Otherwise I truly don't like the guy. In my eyes, calling him an artist is rediculous. There are so many musicians and singers out there like Shania whose positive deeds (as Matt pointed out) go overlooked. Why should this guy get any kind of attention or even be taken seriously? I am of the opinion that the quality of the Grammy's nominee pool has diminished over the past few years. Image seems to be the order of the day rather than substance. Having bubblegum acts like BSB, Spears & Aguilera being nominated alongside true artists like Shania & The Corrs, is absurd. No offense to any of there fans here, but that's just my opine.
To make this shorter than usual, I think Eminem’s career so far is mirrored by this exact topic. The key word is “Controversy”.
I wonder why Jersey is not posting on this topic....lol
i've always wanted to know. So now i do.

Yeah, some of us have talked about that.
Calling her the "B" word! Not necessary!

I agree! We gotta learn to lighten up and laugh at things more! "The Real Slim Shady" is a riot! It's the only rap song I've ever enjoyed, that I've heard! I haven't heard "Stan" yet! LOL

Yeah, life is too short to worry about songs like Eminem's. You just have to learn that theres worse things in life and to not take everything too seriously.

I don't take his songs seriously, but some people do.
Eminem rules! So does Dr. Dre! I like the work he does, the lyrical content is so awesome! He raps about what he feels, from the heart.
Just to stir things up a little (which I love to do!), what if Eminem disses Shania on future releases just like he disses Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and NSYNC? Well, I don't take it seriously and even if he disses Shania, I will still continue to support Eminem. People need to understand they are just words and shouldn't get all bent out of shape b/c of the lyrics dissing people.

It's kind of funny that you like Em and Shania too, not that that's bad. I've always like Dre's work. Well, it's good to see as em supporter here. As for your question, like ive said, she'd get even.
Most people tell me I have strange musical tastes...I like Metal, Country, and Rap...many think that is a strange combination.

While I'am really fed up of Eminem, I think Stan is a okay song. I too have a diverse taste in Music and even if I don't like the artist I will still like a song if it sounds good.
