For long paragraphs I'm gonna scan & paste so if something doesn't make sense quote it and ask what it is

His Ex-wife Stevie sang a British Deoderant comercial (I LMAO everytime I read that)

Was supposed to produce On Through The Night

Mutt's producing wasn't why Foreigner's "4" took so long to complete it was because their writter was crewing around not writting

Def Leppard Were supposed to start High N Dry without him but wouldn't

Quote about DL "At the time I really liked the band's music, but didn't know how far they were prepared to go. Also we only had 3 months to do the album. looking back it was the real beginning of my relationship with the band. We were both testing easch other, seeing how far we could go. I tend to be very autocratic when I'm in the studio, but as it was the first time I'd worked with them I wasn't sure how much they were prepared to give"

Pete Willis kept acting like a jackass so Mutt would ream him out in front of the rest of them

Quote about pete Willis coming in drunk to record for Pyromania "I though he was joking. He tried to find a chord and he couldn't focus. I told him to go home and sober up"

When Phil Collen went to hang out at the studio (before he was in the band) Mutt asked him to write a solo for "Stagefright", the next day he played it and the first time he played it is what is only the cd.

Mutt told their manager that Phil was better than anyone else in the band.

Phil Collen Quote about playing in Girl to DL "...I realize some of it is pretty poor compared to what I was playing under Mutt..."Before Mutt nobody had really pointed out ways that I could improve my playing, and I also hadn't worked with anyone that I respected as much as hime before"

Shania-Like Rumours
Def Leppard was Mutt's pet band
Rick Allen didn't play drums on Pyromania
All bass on Pyromania was computerized
Joe's volcals weren't really his on Pyromania

Paragraph from book Lange completely revolutionised the band, and in doing so revolutionised the way rock music is recorded. He would take a chord, break it down, sample it and put it back together again. Ironically, Collen's solo on 'Stagefright, the one that got him into the band in the first place, was also the quickest thing that Lange worked on, taking him only half an hour to get the sound exactly how he wanted it. For the backbeat, Lange had used a linn drum, which is like a
sophisticated drum machine and up to that point was only in use by disco and synthesiser bands like The Human League, for the basic track, the 'click track' for the band to get the rhythm right. This meant that Allen had several weeks to work out what would be the best possible drum patterns for each song, while the band played to the again took the songs apart, and was credited many of them. The version of 'Photograph' on the album contained only the bridge and chorus that Leppard had originally entered the studio with. Each instrument was recorded separately, so one could have been wiped and redone at any time. "It was like making a movie" Elliot said. "None of the bits are done in order, so you don't really know what you've got until you see the final thing. The way we recorded "Pyromania" made Queen's stuff seem like a four track demo."

When Steve Clark was found drunk in Minneapolis & was put into the hospotal, Joe Elliot, Rick Savage, Mutt & some other guy no one cares about where the 4 who went to help him.

Recording Andrenalize
Recording continued apace. Lange had co-written many of the songs with Leppard, but all during the recording he was still working on Bryan Adams' album. Adams would later recall how the phone would rind and it would be one of Leppard, asking Mutt for his opinion while they played a bit of music down the phone to him. "We'd play pieces and Mutt would say 'Yeah that soundsfine' or 'are you sure about that ending? "He wasn't there at all when we were recording but we did get him to sing some backing vocals for us, which he'd always done, plus he's good fun to have in the studio. When there's five or six of you around a microphone there's always someone who decides to drop their trousers, and this was Mutt on more than one occasion. I know how childish that sounds but when you're recording a major album it's nice to have silly diversions"

Ok that's all for now, I'll do more later
