We've seen you on stage in Frankfurt and Berlin. You were fantastic. Did you enjoy the concerts in Germany?
Do you know when you and Shania come back to Germany? Will it take three years or more? Or will it be earlier?

Sorry my reply has not been quick as requested - life is busy.....
I LOVED playing in Germany - Loved Berlin, hadn't been there before.... nor had I been to Hamburg - also beautiful....
I think it will be quite a long time before Shania makes it back to Germany - I know they are going to do a greatest hits record soon, - as far as I know there are no plans to tour after that is done - but as we all know, these things can change very quickly.
I for one would LEAP at the chance to get back there any time!! I just loved the whole European tour - there wasn't a bad day or town.....

well....I wanted a whole new cd but a GH cd is fine (allthough all her cds are GH) :)
I think this is great news! It'll surely sell LOADS of copies! :D
I don't think Shania will leave her solo career...she has said she'll stick around as long as the fans want her...unless she's changed her mind. Up! sold awesome worldwide considering the times, Up! tour was successful. Just cause you've got a kid, turning 40 soon doesn't mean you're done.
I'm guessing the Greatest Hits album is to get out of her deal with Mercury.

Interesting....I hope it is bye bye to Mercury if they are not promoting her right. I still wish that she would do her entire career of original material, but I would rather have anything Shania, than no Shania. Who know, maybe it will be the 1st greatest hits album to go diamond!!

..if she did that for Mercury I would be surprised - better put - startled - they have hindered her career and doing that would be pretty classy of her - but Mercury deserves nothing from her but the bare minimum to finalize the fulfillment of her contract as far as I see it with the way they failed to promote their biggest star..

..please don't come in here rocking the boat ..bambas is shanianuts and only offering her thoughts on this supposedly accurate new piece of info...lots of devoted Shania fans are afraid she may be packing it in soon on the recording/performing front - she is merely giving her take on the tidbit - she is a lovely person and if you stick with us a while you will see that in spades..

True, but she should go out and saying fellows, don't expect much- this new album will be a GH.
It was very comfortable for her rising up our expectations. All she said was leading to a new studio album.
Personally I also think its a mistake, who will by this GH, when most people will have at least 1 or 2 of the albums?
She doesn't have enough albums (not hits) to make a real GH.

Yeap, I do not like the treatment we got from her this time...
She's talking about new material, new album, not much time than between COO and UP!, and than you hear from her guitarist, that this only a GH.
Don't get me wrong, she has to do what is the best for her - but I can and will expect from her to telling to her fans as it is. i don't care about others: media, industry her label -whatever.
But she had to tell US, that this will be only a GH.

What I find wierd though, is that Shania said she is working on a new studio album and then now someone else said a greatest hits album. I'll believe it when I hear Shania say it.

..is he Shania's spokesperson? I don't think that is how Shania intended to inform her fans of her plans...
No Bob, as it looks like she did not intended at all to inform you about her "being quickly back in studio and no long wait for new album" monolog was maybe about a GH album.
She not really tends to share her plans anyway.
I have to agree with David, she has no enough albums for putting out a good/worth GH simple.
Imagine what that album can be:
4 songd from TWIM
4 songs from COO
2-3 songs from UP!

I think shania is doing a greatest hits to still release something after the up! tour, without recording new material straight away. This way she keeps her fans happy and gives herself and her voice a well earned rest! Then when she is ready to record again she will be more refreshed, and maybe ready to tour again???????? :bounce:

why donīt we just wait and see? I guess that Shania will soon unveil plans in more details - at least somebody in some talkshow will ask her...
First thing she needs after the tour is a bit relaxing. Despite all energy, she must feel a bit tired now.

Yeah whatever she does is totally fine with me, personally i don't think she needs a greatest hits album but i don't decide these things :) I was one of the ones who thought she might quit to write for others as she has indicated before and take a back seat for a while, as long as she is happy then i will be happy for her :D

I don't think she will kiss Mercury bye bye to be honest, yes i would much rather have seen a Christmas Album. I love Christmas and a Shania Album would have been great, i hope she has not put this idea to bed but its a while since it was mentioned last :)
We just don't know what Shania will do but whatever it is will be fine by me :)

I'd say Randall is a reliable source......
How can it be a bad thing? It's great!!! Shania stays in the limelight and it gives her chance to write and record a new album.......once the greatest hits album has been out a while, bang comes a new album and everyone knows who she is!!! Shania will have so much momentum that she won't have to promote from scratch like the UP! album.
And the sales, OMG!!! Greatest Hits Albums sell so well, most of my collection is made of of various artists greatest hits. Queen's Greatest Hits spent 15 years in the charts over here, Abba Gold recently was in the top 10 again about 13 years after being released. It's the sign of a megastar!!!
I think this is a fabulous move by Shania.

...lots of two-bit artists put our GH albums...it is not the sign of a megastar per se..it is the sign of a label hungry for money...I am not inferring in the least that Shania is in this category of artist...she is just along for the rest of her Mercury ride...

Okay, here's Shania's plans (subject to change, of course), as I understand them. 1. Greatest Hits album next. 2. At least 2 more studio albums planned, the first one being the one she spoke of as coming quicker than previous releases. 3. Christmas album back-burnered but not completely abandoned. No actual retirement planned but further touring is not a certainty by any means.

i think we will be seeing Shania's next studio album BEFORE we see the greatest hits album! ;)
Shania even said that she was working on the next album and was ready to go into the studio and finish writing, Shania doesnt lie!
also, remember, Shania cant get out of her mercury contract until she releases another studio album so releasing a greatest hits would be a bit pointless at the moment!
...also Shania doesnt really have enough albums at the mo for a GH album to be released next!

Okay, everyone who says that Shania can't leave and all that, Shania can do whatever she wants. However, I think we all know Shania would just not leave us like that. If the "UP!" tour was her last tour for good, she would have told us. Do any of you remember when Celine left the spotlight, like Shania did. She released "All The Way..." the greatest hits CD, and everyone said that she was retiring and we'd never see her again. Well she came back didn't she, and look at her, she is doing better than ever, I mean 200 sold-out shows in a row! So don't get to worried, Shania herself even said, "I'll probably be doing what I am doing right now 'till I am 50."

Often times, Greatest Hits packages are realeased to fulfill contractual agreements of such.
And I don't think a Greatest Hits package is warrented until after 5-6 albums. Otherwise there would be mostly songs on it that were just released on the regular cd not too long ago. So essentially, it would be like buying the same CD twice. JMO

It all depends!!! In Shania's case, she really has had enough hits to do a Greatest Hits album.......in fact lots of songs won't make it onto the album.

Randall Waller's 'official message' is as good as it gets.
If you are a Shania fan, you will notice that she & Mutt work extremely hard on new material. It would take another year or 2 for her to put out an album of all new material. Sorry if you found what she said to be misleading, I'm sure she didn't mean it that way. The new album according to Randall will be a greatest hits. And of course, it will likely have 2 or 3 'new' songs on it.
Mutt is going to be busy producing The Darkness' new album, and Eja could probably use some 'home time'. I wouldn't be surprised if Shania had another baby in the next year either.
If she puts out a new album of new material, it would be followed by a tour. And that isn't going to happen soon. Shania has had more than a few pretty obvious 'sick days' on tour lately.
She needs a break. And she has PLENTY of hits for a greatest hits album.

Any Shania is better than NO Shania! If it is a greatest hits album, it will give her time to relax and write new stuff.....I bet it will be classic!
Hey but don't forget about UP!.....it is not over yet, especially if she releases "Thank You Baby", "Kaching", and "NAh"....and...and... It was back in the top50 on billboard last week, hopefully this week will be higher!
UP! was 78, as far as I concern, it's not the top 50.

I don't know what she mean, but she was misleading. Every newslet which quoted that interview, including all the fans understood it's a new studio allbum and not 2-3 new songs.
The problem is with her hits, they are all coming from the same two albums mainly. It's a good ka-Ching for the label, and good for any casual fan, but not the best for the hard core fans already has TWIM COO and UP! in multiple versions.
Example: with UP! we got 2x 19 songs for 20$
Now you will have 2-3 new songs for the same price. err....Did I said Ka-Ching?
I think Greatest Hits are more for the general public than the big fans......people maybe prefer to buy all the songs they know rather than a new album if they aren't big fans.
A GREAT idea would be to do a 2xdisc GH album. Disc 1 with the hits, disc 2 with the greatest hits performed live......then everyone is happy. :D

I've been reading this alot, and there were alot of people saying Sinse she's had 3 MAJOR albums, she should not do a GH album. That is not true, because its "Greatest Hits" not "Greatest Albums". Shania has had more Hits with 3 Cd's than most artist have with 10 CD's. Shania usually will realease a minimum of 8 singles/ Cd. There is already 8 Singles from TWIM, 10 (+ 1=When, in Europe) for COO, and already has IGGG, UP!, FAFA, K-C!, TYB!, SNJAPF, IOHWIB, WYKM. Thats 8 from Up!, and theres rumourd to be Videos for Nah! and In my car. That would total another 10. 10+11+8=29 Singles, not to menchin singles from previous albums like What made you say that! Dance with the one that brought you!.... Some of you might say, yeah 29 Singles from her 3 Major albums, but were all these singles greatest hits? Yes they were. They all made CMT, GAC (exluding WYKM!), MuchMoreMusic(Canada), VH1 (certain more Pop hits), and they got loads of airplay. If a GH album completes her commitment to Mercury, so she and Mutt can start
the rumored boutique label, I,m all for it. I hope she waits a while, as I feel there
are at least 3 or 4 more hits on "UP" still to come!

well a greatest hits album isn't really that bad of a thing...they'll probably remaster all the songs or put newer versions of the songs on there...ie like what Madonna, Heart, and many others have done. I think that would be awesome!
