Yes that picture is AWESOME and the ORIGINAL was given to Shania by Natasha and Shania has signed it and returned it recently to the STC for display. I am in the back store room posting this from the Shania Twain Centre surounded by that and other priceless Shania items as I type this note.
I have the Kilt on and I will answer any Shania releated questions any visitor may have later today.
The Timmins welcome continues to blow me away, so open warm and friendly, it is just so nice to be able to walk about the downtown area and feel safe at anytime of the day or night.
You are also a great promotor of Timmins Roger, I want to thank you for the work, time and effort you put in to promote the annual fan convention. Any true Shania fan must come visit her hometown and then they will see what makes Eilleen Twain into the Superstar 'Shania' and yet keeps both feet on the ground and continue to share with us fans.
I know deep down Eilleen would just like to slip into town with no fuss and hang out with her former friends going to the places she used to as a teenager and 20 something Girl.
Despite my age I was 'dragged' into Amigo's last night and for a buck had my hand stamped and was on the dance floor in seconds. Boy was the disco leaping, first tune I heard was "All Night Long" by AC/DC.
It was as if the DJ could read my mind :) Was out on the Town with George from Timmins Web. They had a great Blues band live at the Vic and a C & W band in the Windsor Tavern. Ended up shooting pool at the 147 club just up from the Senator/Days Inn.
Will post the photo's tommorow on this thread. Boy do they have very pretty Girls in Timmins. It is a northern thing!

Thank you everyone, I just wish I could bring you all to Timmins at my expense so you can see for your self the people who make this such a special place.
The Warmth of the people here more than makes up for the Cold of the Winters. When we were stuck off the Ronnie/Fishner Ice Shelf, way south of sanity just 980 miles from the South Pole on March 8th this year, Timmins was a clear 10 deg celcius colder than us at -45 deg C!

Hi Tom,
Well, for once, I explored the other places with you and George and Teri the previous Saturday night. It was not only enjoyable and educational, it led to contacts with new and important constructive possibilities; which started developing with surprising speed in less than 24 hours.
One clear regret, is that I missed the dance opportunity you mentioned at Amigo's. I love to dance, even though I'm rusty from lack of practice.

I'm sure there will be dance possibilities at the fan convention, Bob! ;)

I wonder if FV's toes are healed up yet from last time. ;) That was a fun event. We even had the "Shadow Dancer." But I've yet to experience a popular Timmins dance, in it's own natural setting. Tom and I didn't have a chance to delve into that with our busy schedule the few days I was there. He's picking up some good events after I (and Tracy) left. I hope the loss of our influence doesn't get him into trouble.
Meanwhile you'll want to be careful about teasing me to come to the convention, Roger. It could tempt me to explain all the reasons I can't come, despite wanting to. And you know how much detail I can generate. All those reasons for my not coming, are only one side of the issue, and only relate to me. They will not help those who want to know all the benefits of attending the convention.
Maybe you can explain something to me. I've not been on the Forums a lot lately. There are some thousands of members here and possibly an even greater number of guests. I have the impression that the largest group of members on these Forums is from the US. That could be because the founder of this site is from the US, and the performing star about whom it revolves is to a great extent, a phenomenon in US music. Yet with regard to the fan convention and other events in Timmins, I see what looks like more members from Europe discussing it and thinking about going. But it's vastly more difficult for Europeans to get to Ontario than it is for US residents. I know there was a merger of a sizeable UK online fan group with the Forums a while back. But if there are larger numbers of US members on the Forums, why do you think they seem less involved with Shania's home town and the Shania Twain Centre, even though they're closer than are the European members here?

Well you would have got all the practise you wanted on Sat night Bob, I am so glad you got to see parts of Timmins that perhaps you missed on previous visits. I continue to be spoiled beyond my wildest dreams, yesterday I was a volunteer guide at the Shania Twain Centre (44 people in 3 hours or so passed through) and one lucky family of 5, 2 teenage daughters and a young boy of 9 got the 'close up and personal' back stage tour and the looks of delight as the teenage daughters tried on the denim jacket Shania used for the "Any man of mine" video was an image that made my whole trip here worthwhile. It fitted one of them like a glove and she ran around the room shouting, look mom, I am Shania Twain :D
I only have one day to go and already I am feeling a bit down at having to leave and worrying if I will make it back for the Fan Convention :(

Okay, first of all, Bob, I doubt you stepped on FV's toes. You are a good dancer. But if you aren't going to be there, don't count on me to take your place and dance with FV! :funny:
Well, at least you realize I am just teasing you, Bob. You really don't need to launch into long explanations. You have already done far more than almost anyone in terms of visiting and helping out in Timmins and the STC.
As to why more forums members aren't going to go to the fan con, here is my analysis. First I think you are not correct about the largest group of fourms members coming from the USA. I did an analysis a while back of the top 50 posters at both the forums and the STNAOFC board. Only 33% or 34% of the forums top posters come from the USA (can't remember which figure exactly). On the other hand, 39% come from Europe (including the UK). And 24% come from Canada. On the other hand, the percentage of Americans at the STNAOFC board is in the 70 something percent range.
So one reason is there are fewer Americans. Another reason, IMO, is the average age of the members here. As you know, there are a lot of younger people here. Younger people, say under 30, just don't have the time and/or money to be going up to Timmins. If you think about it, the average age of fan con delegates last year was in the middle age range. I can only think of one delegate last year who was under 30.

Thanks for the explanation. Sounds logical. I'd temporarily not thought about the nationality of the "active" posters. Was estimating the percentage of total members' nationalities, and beyond that the messageboard guests. But if many members or guests are not active posters, it seems reasonable they would also not be active online, in discussing events in Shania's hometown.
