...I'll have to start training on my "rusty Finnish" then..! :p

...which does really exist, I might add... as many Finns living in NA for long periods of time tend to forget some certain words, and replace them with an English/Finnish mix... what we call "Finglish (http://www.uta.fi/FAST/US1/P1/RSV/jt-fingl.html)" or "Fingelska"...

...like a question:

"Would You like to have some apple pie?" - turns into: "Otatko äpylipaitaa?"

:p

...I expect to spend a lot of time rolling on the floor..! :funny:

Thanx for the info Tom! Not pleased about allowing smoking in bars but this is a working town so I understand.

BTW time to Canadianize Tom if you are going to live here. Say "sidewalk" not "pavement" or you won't be understood. Here the pavement is the road!

Yep, Timmins Web is great! I remember once there were a number of us all typing away there keeping the people at home up to date with happenings at the convention. You were one of them Tom. Because we were all on at the same time, we ended up responding to each other's posts. It struck me as hilarious that we were typing furiously away answering each other when all we had to do was stop typing and just talk to each other!! :p

John - ;) Well if Timmins FinnGlish does not get you there, spend an afternoon in Nikki's Sports Gallary and that will do the job :funny:

The Taxi fare from the Airport to the Day's Inn is $20 Canadian and they take Visa. There is no exchange booth at Timmins Airport, best Convert currency at any ATM while at Toronto Pearson.

...,

Those 24 hr convenience stores are called "Mac's" There's multiple ones around town. One is about a block west of the Senator/Days Inn, in the A & P Supermarket parking lot nearest the main east-west street through town, called Algonquin (aka Hwy 101).

Another one is 1/2 block south of Algonquin, near the Police station.

Tom and I bought some flowers there for Barbara Zudel one day. The counter person also drew a very nice map for Tom and I, on how to get to (hmn, where were we going Tom?..., is your bar meter turned on?..., oh yes, Mac's doesn't sell alcoholic beverages and we were looking for a store that did, so we could find a nice bottle of wine to bring as guests to another dinner party).

However, since alcohol has very slight appeal to me, but sugar is nearly a dependency of mine, I also bought a bunch of Shania Twain's favorite penny candies at Mac's (now 5 cents each). One was a small, yellow, banana shaped, banana flavored, soft marshmallowy item. Another was similar except red and in the shape and flavor of strawberries. The 3rd was a mint green jelly item. I like the first two the best.

Yes that was a typical Timmins Girl, Bob - Gave up her little mini break in the Sun to serve us and could not of been more helpful if she had tried. Where were we going that day? We crammed so much into the week we were together.

Fun though, oh Yes loads of fun. I used the Mac's just across from the Days Inn a lot, very handy for me, staying as I was at Timmins Hotel I could get breakfast at Subway's on the way. Tavern Hotels have Microwaves and Fridges in the room being Self Catering and cheap and cheerfull.
