All Shania, all the time in singer's hometown

Timmins, Ont. -- Fans of Shania Twain have already started arriving in Timmins from as far away as Europe for the second annual convention celebrating the Canadian country-music superstar, set for Aug. 5-8.

"We have people coming from Finland, Scotland and England to be here," said organizer Tracy Hautenan. "We have nearly doubled our numbers over last year and are still welcoming more participants."

The convention will include a guided tour through the Shania Twain Centre housing her music awards, hand-written song lyrics and outfits she wore to award ceremonies and concerts.

"The support we have from Shania and her management is phenomenal," Hautenan said. "She has donated nearly all her original outfits and awards to the centre. In fact, her entire wardrobe from her Up world tour has just arrived."

As well, two of Twain's band members, J.D. Blair and Cory Churko, will be on hand to mingle with fans.

There will also be a tour of the high school Twain attended. "While there we will host a Shania trivia contest," Hautenan said. "We will also host a video dance and auction complete with autographed Shania Twain memorabilia." CP

The purple fuzzy "thing" too? Yikes!! :shocked: :eek: :eek: :funny:
I suppose the sports jerseys aren't among those, I think most of them were auctioned by local radiostations for charity?
Although, there weren't any such auctions in Europe, I think.

There was at least one sports jersey included in the wardrobe case. I think the name on the shirt was the Barracuda's. It would make a good trivia question for someone to tell me where it came from because I don`t know.

Actually, no! That isn`t part of the secret. It has been mentionned on the official fan site for a while.

I may be wrong about that one. I just got a quick glance before Tracy gave me the evil eye and made me put it back. So it might have been something completely different. i`ll try to sneek a peek this week when I`m at the center.

Hmmm.... can you keep a secret. ;) As far as I can tell... you`re good at keeping a secret. you also seem to be really good at telling everyone that you have a secret that you can`t tell. you remind me of some of my students. :)

RenAh, so maybe it was the Bulldogs perhaps? I am really interested in the jerseys, so if you'll manage to avoid Tracy's evil eye :p, and get a better look, would you tell me what it is please? :)

It is a jersey from the florida area, I'll check it tomorrow. But the team signed it for Shania so I think that is why it was kept.

I'll let Ren have another look!!

A whole team signing it reminds me of the time she visited the Edmonton Oilers and what team spirit she gave them, the lads were impressed! :D


Oh, I assume the auction items are also secrets for now? Or can you share some of what is going to be auctioned off at the Convention?

I just checked the Jersey. It is signed by the Jacksonville Barracuda's. i`m guessing it`s some type of farm team in Florida.

This solves the mystery. She naturally wasn't wearing that jersey as it had the autographs, she wore Jacksonville Jaguars at the Jacksonville concert.
