Colourized Shania

For my first time colourizing a black & white Shania photo, I don't think I did too bad lol

I think if I coloured the rest of it, it would look better. I will try that later lol.

Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 :) I could have made it better by spending more time to colour it more carefully and make the buttons on her jeans like a button colour, but meh :p

Yeah I don't like it that much either lol...it just happened to be the first B&W picture I found in my folder of Shania pics lol

Heidi, if all you see in the color palette is black/grey/white, then go to Image>>Increase Color Depth>>16 Million. Then you should be able to see all the colors. Then duplicate the layers, and on the top layer use the color to target brush, then change the opacity. :D

ok I got the 1st half of it before the target brush, but I have a question- for the target brush, do you go to the light/darken brush and click on change to target?

Okay, the part that's circled, that's where you do opacity. Just move the little arrows.

The part right next to it that says "Normal" you can click on the arrows on that, and adjust the layer settings. Like, overlay, soft light, whatever. If you think it looks good, then it's probably right. ;)

Oho. All you need to really do is drag the thing over to the right to get it to look like mine. And to view the pallette I was looking at, I think you just click F8 and it should be there. ;)

You use a smaller brush and zoom in so you can paint it within the lines.

OK, I managed to color most of a pic except for the lips and eyes and skin- and I'm having a totally hard time with those areas!

You keep duplicating layers for each thing, except clothes (that's what I do anyway). For the skin, it IS going to look very very orange until you change the opacity. Same with the lips and eye color. Eyes are usually very bright as well.

Something doesn't look right about the picture.... :uhh: I wouldn't be surprised if the magazine edited the nipple in afterwards, they are always known for enhancing images to try and make them look more "sexy". :rolleyes:

...But at the end of the day it's only a body part...nothing to lose sleep over.
Plus these sort of things usually happen all the time by accident anyway, I could pull out quite a few non professional pics of Shania where her nipples are slightly showing through her top...although I don't want to sent this thread in a weird direction, so I won't! :funny:

Go to View>>Palettes>>Tool Options. It should bring up a section up top that has where you can change the size of the brush.
