Shania has a chance at # 1 in the United States

According to the final pre-holiday update from Hits Daily Double, Shania's "Greatest Hits" album is in contention for # 1 on the main albums chart.

It will all come down to final sales this weekend.

(If you haven't bought Shania's "Greatest Hits" yet, I would suggest Circuit City. Circuit City is selling Shania's "Greatest Hits" cd for $ 8.99 this week. Just a hint. ;) )


The following is from Hits.

At the top of next week’s chart, look for a tussle among U2, Eminem and possibly 2Pac. There’s no clear winner now, and it’s likely to remain a tight race through the end of the week. Also, don’t count out Now 17 or Shania Twain’s Greatest Hits, both of which have been surging.

Yeah Shania does have a really good chance at hitting #1 this coming week!! :D
She will probably have the highest sales increase eitherway.....but even if she doesn't hit #1 she will probably be in the top 3!
Plus Shania still has another chance of hitting #1 when she releases Don't! ;)

......even if u do not buy anymore, at least go to the stores and help sales by moving it in front of its competitors Walmart has cd's all over the store and I go and make sure Shania's are in front also with the new releases!lol

Also they have a player that if you scan the cd 4 songs of the greatest hits will play....well scan it and pump up that volume so people undecided can listen!

Of course this is easier for me to do since I work there part time but hey

If any of you work at Walmart call the walmart hotline to get Shania's songs on Walmart radio so the customers can hear the songs during the day and night!

Shania's Greatest Hits are the number one seller here in Canada. Yes, there is a good chance she can pull ahead in the States in the last minute Christmas rush. The reason: other artists like Eminem have definite limits to the demographic of people who like him. Shania on the other hand appeals to everyone, all ages, both sexes, so her Greatest Hits are a "safe" buy for last minute shoppers who don't know what to buy for that hard to buy for person.

What about Billboard, are they locked too?

...and what is the soundscan website? Everytime I google it to try and find out Shania's sales numbers it takes me to some crap site with nothing interesting on it! :rolleyes:

That is a tough one..........BILLBOARD does have a special XMAS chart , but allot of people go on Hoildays.......and the charts shut down for 2 to 3 weeks. :D

But some one does keep track.........we also have the major BOXING DAY sales the week of XMAS were sales are STILL huge. :D

I'm not sure but I think Billboard will have their numbers posted as usual on Thursdays.

If not, the good thing is that Shania is in the Top 10.

What that means is that, somewhere/somehow Shania's sales numbers and position will likely be reported.

Many news outlets report the sales numbers and positions for the Top 10 albums.

If Shania was outside of the top 10, then we'd have a problem and would probably have to wait a long while to get her chart information.
