Darryl Worley Leads No. 1 "Life"
Shania Twain Continues to Dominate Gridlock on Country Albums Chart

As great as it might have been already, Darryl Worley's daily existence improved a bit more this week when "Awful, Beautiful Life," became his latest No. 1 single. Meanwhile, it's total gridlock in the upper reaches of the country albums chart with Shania Twain's continuing grasp on the top position.

"Awful, Beautiful Life" has spent more than six months on Billboard's Hot Country Singles & Tracks. With a slower than usual chart during the holiday season, Worley found strong competition from Blake Shelton and Tim McGraw. On the latest chart, Shelton's "Some Beach" slips to second place after four weeks at No. 1, followed by McGraw's "Back When," which slips one notch to No. 3. Rascal Flatts climb a space with "Bless the Broken Road," and Keith Urban ascends two slots with "You're My Better Half."

Falling slightly to sixth and seventh place, respectively, are Gretchen Wilson's "When I Think About Cheatin'" and Brad Paisley's "Mud on the Tires." LeAnn Rimes' "Nothin' 'Bout Love Makes Sense" and Alan Jackson's "Monday Morning Church" take one-rung climbs to land at No. 8 and No. 9, respectively. Gary Allan's recent No. 1, "Nothing On but the Radio," returns to the Top 10 after a week at No. 11.

Lonestar's "Class Reunion (That Used to Be Us)," the only country single hitting the chart this week, debuts at No. 48.

With Twain's Greatest Hits remaining at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums list, the rest of the Top 5 remains unchanged. Toby Keith is at No. 2 with his Greatest Hits 2 followed by Wilson's Here for the Party, Rascal Flatts' Feels Like Today and George Strait's 50 Number Ones.

There's little movement within the remainder of the Top 10 country albums, either. Big & Rich's Horse of a Different Color and McGraw's Live Like You Were Dying swap places, with Big & Rich getting the upper hand at No. 6. Similarly, Alison Krauss & Union Station's Lonely Runs Both Ways does a flip-flop with Paisley's Mud on the Tires, a situation that leaves Krauss at No. 8. Kenny Chesney holds steady at No. 10 with When the Sun Goes Down.

Only one country album charted this week. The Countdown Singers, a studio congregation that has recorded several albums for the Madacy label, arrive at No. 61 with #1 Country Hits, a budget-priced three-CD project featuring their versions of hits made famous by artists as diverse as Twain and Hank Williams.

============================

OK, I agree that this article is not much about Shania, but at least it's good to know, that she's still the one - the number one ;)

She'll most likely be #1 until January 25. LeAnn Rimes' "This Woman" and Kenny Chesney's "Be As You Are" are both coming out and will probably be the top 2, with Kenny at #1.

That will give her 10 or 11 weeks at #1. That's pretty awesome.:)

Awesome Indeed. And i agree that Kenny will probably have a number 1 debut, tho with Shanias staying power, she is sure to regain it soon after! thanks for posting
