Marc Bouwer, gown designer for the stars, is launching a couture-inspired line of sportswear. M by Marc Bouwer includes bolero jackets, silk ruffle-front dresses, matte jersey pants with side slits, geometric-print kimono blouses and other fashion-forward pieces.
The apparel will be available on QVC starting in February.
Prices are much lower than his high-fashion styles seen on the likes of Angelina Jolie, Oprah Winfrey, Shania Twain and Toni Braxton. They range from $49 to $149, with an asymmetrical, off-the-shoulder lace top for $70 and a silk ruffle-front dress with a cashmere bolero sweater at $149.
"I always thought there were many women to be reached by offering a line at more affordable prices," said Bouwer, who recently dressed Blythe Danner for the Golden Globes. "This is for the woman that wants couture, but is not willing or able to pay the couture prices."
Bouwer also said that he loves "late-night perusing" on QVC and plans to introduce a line of accessories by the end of the year.
"It would be great if every woman could own a little Marc Bouwer," he added. -- LaMont Jones
