On Friday 26th November The Corrs played the last show of their 2004 world tour at The Arena in Geneva. Stylorouge filmed the event for a future DVD release, managing to acquire the services of a number of celebrated Directors of Photography among their team of 11 camera operators. Post production continues throughout December and January. The two hour show features the band at their best, performing classic hits from their extensive repertoire; Breathless, What Can I Do, So Young etc etc, and newer tracks including current single Long Night. Director is Rob O'Connor, producer: Rupert Style.

http://www.stylorouge.com/stylo_new/news/images/july05/corrs_02.jpg http://www.stylorouge.com/stylo_new/news/images/july05/corrs3.jpg
The Corrs Geneva concert, which we filmed in November last year, finally gets a release date, but not before the second part of the project is put to bed. Stylorouge have been appointed by the band and their official documentary film-maker Ciaran Tanham to complete a long-form sell through documentary that will make the resulting sell-through package a must-have for all Corrs fans. With packaging also by Stylorouge, the double DVD set will be available later in the year.

‘THE CORRS – ALL THE WAY HOME – THE STORY OF THE CORRS’
RELEASED ON DOUBLE DISC DVD
14 NOVEMBER 2005
(23 November 2005 - Japan
6 December 2005 - USA / Canada)
The 2-disc DVD set features a brand new documentary depicting The Corrs’ rise to stardom in their own words. From their first ever live gig to behind the scenes footage from recording sessions with legendary producer David Foster. 'All The Way Home' tells the complete story of their rise to fame, in the words of the band themselves, plus long-standing manager John Hughes, illustrated with many unseen early snapshots from the family archive, hilarious demo material and behind-the-scenes footage, some shot long before their 1994 deal with Atlantic Records in New York.
In addition, there is archive footage drawn from TV appearances, on-tour footage, many rare stills and much memorabilia, plus of course plenty of their music, both live and in the studio. All of this is tied together and commented upon with immense humour and charm via up-to-date interviews with all members of the band, adding colour to their string of worldwide successes.
Much of the 104-minute film was filmed personally by long-time Corrs' video biographer Ciaran Tanham, while the new material and the coordinating direction of the whole has been supervised by director Rob O'Connor of Stylorouge in London.
The second disc contains twenty live tracks recorded in Geneva as part of their 2004 tour. These include The Corrs classics such as ‘’What Can I Do?’, ‘Dreams’ and ‘Breathless’ and performances of stunning album tracks including ‘I Never Loved You Anyway’ and ‘Queen Of Hollywood’
‘The Corrs - All The Way Home – The Story Of The Corrs’ is a must for all discerning fans of The Corrs and music fans alike.

I am wondering why they are presenting it as the Documentary, their story, instead of it being the Live in Geneva. One would think a live concert dvd sells better than a documentary... looking at the cover, it does say it includes Live in Geneva, but still, I think you understand what I mean..
captainCorr
11-05-2005, 3:24pm
They made the concert a sort of bonus thing, but the documentary & the title 'All The Way Home' relate to their latest album and basically their homecoming..:)
As you can see on the cover, cities which had importance to their career....all the way from Dundalk, to the Geneva gig last year..:) (also explains why the Doc is on disc 1 & the concert on disc 2)
Yes, I can see that they've chosen to promote this as a documentary, but I don't understand it from big public side of things, doesn't a live concert dvd have bigger value commercially than a documentary?
As a fan, I don't care about what sells and what does not, but surely record labels do?

I see what you mean.... well I guess they just want to release something 'different' this time.. a lot of artists also have 1 or 2 documentaries on DVD, and to date..the Corrs have none. They've already released 4 concert DVD's & music video collection, so I guess they're going for some variety and release a documentary (but also a DVD) now..:)
Besides, it's an ideal gift for people who don't know the Corrs or don't know enough about them.... You get a introduction, their life story, on one side, and a live concert on the other.. The perfect X-mas gift! :p
Oh as a fan I am more than thrilled of this release, and will look forward to it very much. But over the years I've noticed that 'fans' and big public that like an artist, but don't follow them like fans do, instead buy interesting albums or dvds should they be aware such exists are very different. I guess I just would like the Corrs to have as much success as possible, and thus am wondering.

I guess they're just trying to please their fans, which I think is more important than trying to get more success. Who stands by them if an album fails commercially? Fans, not everyone else.

Yeah, that's what they've done with "Home" (also for themselves), and maybe also this DVD.. They did it out of 'labour of love'..:) (but coincidently, it was also their final album with Atlantic ;))
But they'll be promoting the album/single (UK) in November too, good chance they'll be promoting the new DVD too..
I guess they're just trying to please their fans, which I think is more important than trying to get more success. Who stands by them if an album fails commercially? Fans, not everyone else.Oh yes, that's a good point, and no doubt releasing Home wasn't done with commercial success in mind, and that is admirable.
But let me try and explain what I meant. As a fan I don't care at all who sells how much, if I enjoy the music, I don't care how much it sells, I like a lot of music nobody else have heard of :p
But the way commercial success ties in with any artist´and their fans, is that if one has even moderate commercial success, that means more music and videos and releases and concert tours for fans. :D And commercial success means more fans that discover the artist. That is the only reason I am ever even remotely interested if any artist gets commercial success.

The most important thing for an artist is that they do what they love, and that they would preserve artistical integrity. Sadly, a lot of times that is not possible, and they have to do what the market requires, or rather, what some record execs *think* the market wants. So we have a lot of sad examples.

Yeah exactly....especially these days..:scowl:
That's probably also the reason or one of the reason the Corrs lost their support of Atlantic..:smirk:
Btw, have you read that insightful interview with John Hughes (posted somewhere in this forum)? :)
Anyway, the man who signed & 'developped' the Corrs and is obviously part responsible for their succes, is Jason Flom. In August, he was forced to leave Atlantic and sell Lava Records (which he founded). Well, as of Oct 24th he has been appointed Chairman & CEO of Virgin Records (EMI)..and it's rumoured some 'unsatisfied' artists at Warner/Atlantic will follow him.. :)

Well....Haven't seen the documentary yet, but I have seen some songs from the concert..: (can already say this is the best DVD!!)
Spoilers!!
Unfortunately, they cut out the "Yeah Yeah Yeah" (So Young outro) part....too bad..:(
But I totally LOVE Caroline's "welcome back"!! :bounce: Love her interaction with the audience on the DVD!
There are some cute mistakes too..! :p
And of course there's 'Bluey' during "I Never Loved You Anyway"!
Oh, and I love how they did the menu!
Wow....I went right back to the Ahoy/Rotterdam gigs! :D
Anyway, that's enough for now..:p
Happy watching/waiting! ;)

I really like the Old Town performance on the DVD. And Andrea and Jim are so cute together! Oh almost forgot, also love the I Never loved you anyway performance, Sharon's facial expressions are so funny during that song!
I received my dvd on Wednesday, haven't had time to watch yet, perhaps later today. Although I've got lots of other stuff lined up to watch also, Sunday is reserved for tapes/tv/dvds :]
I bought this today. I'm saving it till Friday night so I have something to look forward to at the end of the week :]

They really manage to blend the irish traditional music with the pop and it's been interesting to see how it happened through the years. The documentary is really well done!

Glad to read you liked it..:D
Yeah, the doc is good, especially if you haven't seen 'The Right Time Doc.' (for example)..:)
I watched the doc last night, I thought it was ace! I found it really entertaining and informative. Well worth buying IMO.
I watched half the concert on Saturday, and I watched the docu also yesterday. I thought it was interesting and it kept my attention (apart from a few spots where I thought they showed a bit too much music videos). I learned a lot I didn't know, and also it put some pieces together I knew but didn't really see the 'big picture' before watching this.
I think they concentrated a lot on the older stuff, the docu got weaker as it progressed, I think they didn't have material from certain era, or chose to not publish that..
There is a green line on the bottom of the docu, I guess it's a manufacturing defect? At least it looks that way :uhh:
Yeah I had that green line, it went away if I paused or put the on screen display on. I didn't notice it once I got in to the doc though.

Yeah I agree about the music video thing (like for example they showed the full 'No Frontiers' Unplugged performance..:uhh: ).. and also about the older stuff thing..
Hopefully we'll get to see more stuff in the future..:)
I was quite surprised Georgina was in it, but it's really cute..
And yeah, I got the green line too (doc.)..but only when whatching it on a Full Screen (4:3) TV.. When I watched it on a WideScreen (16:9) TV, there was no green line..:)
Yeah I agree about the music video thing (like for example they showed the full 'No Frontiers' Unplugged performance..:uhh: ).. and also about the older stuff thing..:nod:Well, the older stuff was really interesting, so that more than made up for the few weaknesses as it progressed :)
Heh, I actually adore the No Frontiers performance, so that in particular didn't bother me at all :p but I know what you mean.
Hopefully we'll get to see more stuff in the future..:)I was a bit discouraged when a couple of them said that the last tour *might* have been their last?

I was a bit discouraged when a couple of them said that the last tour *might* have been their last?
Yeah..but that was right after their last show of the BH tour.. Naturally they were exhausted (& cold!) from touring etc. But.... we still got a new album ("Home"), a new DVD, and according to Sharon, Andrea & Jim there will be a (small) tour next year (and another 'Unplugged' album in the future)..
So they might do things differently from now on, but I have a pretty good feeling we haven't seen the last of them..:]

So they're gonna do a little *home* tour then, eh?
captainCorr
11-28-2005, 6:07pm
Most likely yeah.... it will be a more intimate one, at smaller venues (like the Royal Albert Hall) and with an orchestra..:)
There were also plans to record a new DVD (a concert) with songs from "Home" featuring an orchestra in a venue in Ireland at the end of October.. but for unknown reasons, it hasn't happened yet (maybe because of Sharon's pregnancy)..:uhh:
I love all the Corrs dvds, so to hear they might have scrapped a dvd recording is not good to hear
I finally got to watch this tonight, really awesome, I love the documentary. I already posted that I wish Shania would do something like this in another thread, it has everything, its all factual and not someone else talking like we seem to get with the Shania TV programmes. I would love to see something similar, where Shania is interviewed along with footage from career highlights which we all know exists.
I can't believe how they looked as children, you can totally tell its them! So cute! I also was surprised when Andrea and Jim talked about how it could be the last tour and that sometimes you know when its time to stop - I hope that isn't going to happen, I always thought with them being a family that they would go on for a long time.......but yes the album came out after that so maybe not! Anyway, a great DVD.
