Airs on Friday, June 17 at 8:00pm ET on A&E.
A profile of the popular singer/songwriter who rocked the world of country music with her drop-dead looks, sultry voice and spirited lyrics, as she's bravely bridged the gap between country and pop.
Exclusive interviews include Shania herself, Elton John, Dolly Parton, singer/songwriter Mark McGrath, Billy Currington and country music historian Bob Oermann.

Thank you. Arts and Entertainment is a US only station though it's programmes are often bought by the Biography and even the History Channel and seen all over the World that way. A & E is not even seen on Bell Express Vu in Canada and that is just next door.
So unless someone puts it on Bit Torrent I doubt I will be watching anytime soon.

Tom, A & E is available on Rogers cable service and has been for years. Find yourself someone in Timmins who has Rogers and ask them to tape it for you.
Yes I have Bell express VU so don't think I will bother. The adverts bug me too much to even watch Shania on American TV. Sorry.

- TommyYou probably are right Tommy but let's see if they had the smarts and resources to come up with some new intelligent soundbites, clips and info on our little Wonderwoman and actually tell her story a little better. Surely their producers know what has gone before and don't want to be lumped in like a Johnny-Come-Lately with the other similar shows on her life.

What is A & E ? Is it possible to get this channel in the UK ? Also I see Shania is to be on Larry King Live this Friday. Does anyone know if this is the same show that goes out in the US & the UK at the same time ? ie 9.00pm Eastern which is 2.00am GMT the next day?

Depends....there's a good chance it'll include new stuff, so it's up to you..:)

A&E stands for the Arts & Entertainment channel - it is on most satellite and cable networks in USA and available elsewhere in certain areas ....

Tracy (STC manager) is part of the commentary.
Shania adds a comment here and there. Mostly it's a narrator like in all the previous biography shows. After the commercial they go into Shania's parents' death.

Shania talks about her biological father, she says "They were apart before I could even know him"
Shania smiles when talking about her dad (Jerry). She says her mom found a stage for her, anywhere she could perform.
There is a lot of stuff we have seen at the STC.
Tammy Wynette, Dolly, Loretta, Shania sites all these artists as her influences.
Dolly said she got choked up when she found out how much of an influence she was to Shania.
Music was a great escape for when things got tough.
Love the pics of a very little Shania smiling. (it has only gotten bigger)

I can't tell where the interview was done, the background was too tight.
Jerry found a job he loved, and that was the reforestation. Shania loved working with her dad. A lot of who Shania is, is because of her dad's influence.
He taught her to love the outdoors, love music.

Anyway, more:
This is the most we have ever heard Shania talking about her parents.
Shania talks about her parents death, GBC is playing as they tell the story.
Shania was shocked, devastated, she came to grips with taking care of her siblings, she felt all alone "We are on our own for the rest of our lives"
They talk about Jill, and how she had a family that she needed to take care of her. Shania had to take care of her younger siblings on her own.
Shania puts her career on hold, she sought help from Mary Bailey.
Mary knew Shania from all her gigs, and knew her mom as a backstage mom. Shania has smile on her face when talking about deerhurst.

The basis of this bio is an interview with Shania that I haven't seen before (and I have seen most). Shania of course goes over the same old stuff but with insights she hasn't always had before. Bob Oerman, the music critic and historian, also brings valuable persectives.

"Shania paid her dues in Canada" this is where she cut her teeth.
Shania was frustrated when she came to town, because they didn't take her seriously in the songwriting department.
REJECTED BY RADIO, she went to TV!!! :D
Dolly speaks highly of Shania. "a girl after my own heart"
Mutt Lange saw the first video....and.....
he is a low profile guy, "Mary didn't know who Mutt was, and neither did I"-Shania
Mary twisted Shania's arm to call Mutt. They were on the phone for 3 hours. Shania was excited because he loved her songs, and was interested in them. Shania says she never knew someone like that since her mom died. "my mom was my biggest cheerleader"
Shania had a failed first album, and she was at the Mercury show, and they met at Fan Fair.
Wrote most of TWIM on the first visit to London. When she got home, she missed him so bad. He wanted their relationship low profile.
I just heard Tracy's voice telling the story of Mutt and Shania.

Tears rolled down my cheeks when Shania talked about her parents death and when they said "Despite all her successes, her first album, her first #1 hit, winning "Entertainer of the Year" from the CMA, her marrige, the birth of her son, etc., her parents were not here to share those experiences with her." :cry:

I just watched this special..
wow.. I have to admit it touched me deep inside.. they put it into words on a really 'touching' way.. My respect for Shania gained even more.. A wonderful special..:love:
