Don’t forget that tonight Sharon will be on stage at the ‘46664 Arctic’ concert in Tromsø, Norway. She will be joining Italy’s Zucchero for two numbers as well as performing “Toss the Feathers”. In Norway the show will be broadcast live on NRK from 9pm to 1am. The show will also be broadcast by other TV channels so why not check your local listings. Nelson Mandela will be conveying his HIV/AIDS message to the northern hemisphere countries and at the same time delivering a strong caution to leaders of the G8 countries that more needs to be done in the global fight.

Also appearing will be Annie Lennox, Peter Gabriel, Brian May, Robert Plant, Razorlight, Angelique Kidjo, Bongo Maffin, Johnny Clegg, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Ane Brun, Anneli Drecker, Kaizers Orchestra, Madrugada and Saybia.

The concert will also see messages sent from 46664 ambassadors including Bill Clinton, Bob Geldof, Bono, Brad Pitt, Chris Martin, Robert de Niro and Will Smith calling on the world to do more to address infant mortality and the impact of HIV/AIDS on children.

The band have been long time supporters of the Nelson Mandela Foundation and we are delighted to confirm that on June 11th Sharon will be appearing at the ‘46664 Arctic’ concert in Tromsø, Norway, where she will be performing on stage with Italy’s Zucchero.

Brian sets of for Tromsø Norway tomorrow, rehearsals having taken place in London this week. He put the finishing touches to his set with Jivan Gasparian on Monday in a South London studio.

Where is Tromsø?

Tromsø is defined as a lively, multicultural coastal city north of the Arctic Circle. Here are a few facts about the city:

• 62,000 residents (plus 10,000-12,000 students)
• 120 different nationalities represented - with a rich and varied social life and many cultural opportunities
• Tromsø is a city devoted to peace. The Centre for Peace Studies at the University of Tromsø is internationally respected.
• The Norwegian Olympic Committee has proposed Tromsø as the next Norwegian candidate to host the Winter Olympics.
• Dramatic and beautiful surroundings, with mountains rising directly from the sea.

The Concert

The 46664 Arctic concert will be a totally unique event from a Norwegian perspective. It is principally a concert designed to put work concerning HIV/AIDS on the international agenda.

In order to achieve this, several high profile international artists will perform alongside Scandinavian, national and local musicians. Several of these will perform together in exciting and new compositions.

The concert area will open in the afternoon and different activities will take place throughout the evening. The experience will be like a day festival where we imagine the crowd will build up as the event progresses.

The artists, along with national and international ambassadors, will speak on the work against HIV/AIDS. Some of these will be shown live on the giant screen, while others will be recorded in advance.

The concert will be produced for television by Norwegian national broadcaster NRK and we expect the coverage to be sold to many television broadcasters around the world.

According to how the audience are dressed I would say it´s about 10-12 degrees at the moment, but it´s also a coast city so it´s most likely moist in the air and cold by that. :p
