Okay, so... since I'm kinda lazy I thought this could be a more fun way if introducing my country than just me writing about Denmark.

When you think of the country Denmark what do you think then? Tell me and then I can maybe elaborate on what you come up with or tell you whether it's right or wrong.

I don't think so, but I think they did break-up. She's actually a classically trained singer from what I heard, pity she didn't use it.........I saw her on a TV show, like before they were famous or something and she looked quite normal, not bad looking actually ! Lego!

Danish pastry with chocolate in the middle! :p I ate one this Thursday, when I actually was in Denmark :]

Long beautiful beaches (shores) that I haven´t seen myself in real life..

Beer... because it's good beer or because it's cheap for you?:p

Oohhh, that's good stuff! :] You can't get that anywhere else. Tried to find a pic so you could see what it is that we are talking about... but couldn't find a good one.

The beaches... you know, I never think of how lucky we are here that almost no matter where you live you live kinda close to a beach. Nothing like taking a walk at the shores in the western Denmark where the North Sea is:up: The landscape there is beautiful.

I think of Lego, Carlsberg, Jan Molby (ex-Liverpool player), the Laudrup brothers, the mermaid, Copenhagen, Annette, butter, bacon and Helena Christensen........not in that order! :D

Here we go... beer and Lego again:p I guess Lego is one of the most popular things to ever come out of Denmark. In fact a whole city, Billund, came into existence around the Lego factories. Also in that city is the biggest airport in Jutland (the peninsula).

The little mermaid is Denmark's landmark and probably one of the most popular turist attractions. Unfortunately, the little mermaid is very unlucky. She has lost her head two times, lost an arm and and been overturn from the stone she's sitting on. But each time she has alwyas been fixed again.

Copenhagen... the capitol. I'm from Jutland.. there's always a bit of a friendly rivalry going on between us from Jutland and those from Sealand.

Butter and bacon... Never knew Danish butter was so famous, but I have on more than one occasion seen Dansh butter in other countries. Lurpak butter. And I know we export bacon to the English.

Long warm summers... I think that depends on where you are from. Here we don't consider the summer to be long and warm, but I guess coming from Iceland they are if you compare.

Nyhavn: Nyhavn is part of the original Copenhagen Harbor all the way back to the founding of Haven, as Copenhagen was then called, in the 12th century.Today, old sailing vessels and the Harbor Canal Tour boats are the only boats observed, contributing to the unique atmosphere in Nyhavn. When in Nyhavn, the Danes really get into the typical Danish term "Hygge" - we relax and forget all about the worries of our life. Now it's time to have a good time in the company of friends. That's all that matter.

Source and pics (http://www.copenhagenpictures.dk/nyhavn.html)

The tivoli in Copenhagen is one of the most famous in Europe? I didn't know that... I've never been there lol!

Queen Margaret.. or Margrethe as she is called in Danish. I think most Danes are proud of our royal family..even those who say they are not, I believe are deep down.
The Royal House (http://www.kongehuset.dk/english/)

They have so called "Danske Wienerbrød" in Sweden too, but they aren´t as good as real Danish ones :D

I have to do a real trip to Denmark some day and see those places..

...I knew about H.C. Andersen... ;)

"In the English-speaking world, the stories of The Ugly Duckling, The Emperor's New Clothes, The Little Mermaid and The Princess and the Pea are cultural universals; everyone knows them, though few can name the author."

...then there's Tycho Brahe, astronomer & Niels Bohr, physicist...

...and perhaps a technical term named after a Danish king:

Bluetooth - Harald Blåtand (Harold I Bluetooth in English), King of Denmark and Norway from 935 and 936 respectively, to 940 known for his unification of previously warring tribes from Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Bluetooth likewise was intended to unify different technologies like computers and mobile phones with the use of wireless personal area networks via a secure, low-cost, globally available short range radio frequency.

...and about musicians - how about Lars Ulrich of Metallica..? ;)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c0/Ulrich.jpg

yep:

Lars Ulrich

Born: December 26, 1963
From: Gentofte, Denmark
Personal: Married, 2 Children
Instrument: Drums
Vitals: Green eyes, blonde/brown hair, 5'7"/1.7 meters tall

The oft-seen and heard dynamo of Metallica, when it comes to arranging all matters from songs to business, Lars is always at the epicenter. Indeed, constant activity has been a hallmark of Ulrich's life. As a child he saw his father Torben run a small jazz club in Copenhagen (sax player Dexter Gordon is Lars' Godfather) before following the family on the professional tennis circuit where Torben became an established figure.

Lars was nearly 10 when the sounds of Richie Blackmore and Deep Purple blew his little socks off at one of the first gigs he ever attended. It began a theme which has been recurrent in his life -obsession with a band- and having bought the 'Fireball' album, he began a Deep Purple love affair which continues to this day. At 13 his grandmother bought him his first drum kit, yet percussion vyed with tennis for priority. When the family moved to Newport Beach, CA in the late '70's, the seeds of priority scattered themselves in his field: girls, rock'n'roll and the occasional funny cigarette were all keys in turning Lars from the wooden raquet to full metal racket. He got so excited about metal music that he jammed a bit with a young lad called James Hetfield before taking a teenage trip to England during June of 1981 to see his newly beloved Diamond Head. He thus managed to finagle living with them for a while before returning to So Cal and the tape-trading he enjoyed with the likes of Metal Blade Records Brian Slagel.

Slagel was looking for bands to record cuts for an album he would release on the label (their first release). Lars got a slot but had no band. Remembering the less-than-awesome yet energetic jams with young Hetfield, Lars called him up and told him about the album. James listened. And thus was Metallica conceived.

These days, some 80-odd million albums worldwide later, Metallica might have undergone enormous collective and individual changes, but the essence of Ulrich remains. He is at once a loyal, attentive and determined person, one who locks in for the long-haul and one who's skin can achieve great thickness. He's also, in recent years, become even more comfortable saying exactly what he believes in regardless of the consequences (as evidenced by his willingness to be the band spokesperson on the Napster issue).

Music now shares the front seat with Lars' wife Skylar and two sons Myles and Layne as well as his thriving interests in art and film. Busy? Of course. But would Lars have it any other way? The proof is there for all to see...

22 Jul 2004 After being spotted out on the town with Danish actress Connie Nielsen, Metallica tub thumper, Lars Ulrich, has issued an official statement announcing that he and his wife, Mrs. Ulrich, are getting divorced.

The official statement reads as follows:

"Lars and Skylar Ulrich are getting divorced after seven years of marriage. The couple has been quietly separated since March. They will share custody of their two children."

Do you have a lot of relatives in Denmark?

Yes I do have lots of them, my grandpa's brother moved there and had a family there, and the sons of that man spoke icelandic as kids, but they are danish nontheless, but with icelandic citizenships and so are their boys. They can't go the the army that way. The whole clan was here actually for family reunion, last week. they are like 40 ppl all together.

Long warm summers... I think that depends on where you are from. Here we don't consider the summer to be long and warm, but I guess coming from Iceland they are if you compare.

having been in Denmark in summer time, I thought it was one of the best weathered summer I have experienced in Europe(If I dont count Spain and Italy)

I have tryed that, sitting in Nyhavn, and it was so nice and cosy, sitting on the pier, looking at the boats and chatting to people.

Queen Margaret.. or Margrethe as she is called in Danish. I think most Danes are proud of our royal family..even those who say they are not, I believe are deep down.

I have also heard that ppl gather outside the palace in Copenhagen(I'm to tired to remember the name of it) on the queens birthday and say " Kære dronning kom nu frem, ellers går vi aldrig hjem" and then she comes out to the balcony and waves

oh and another two things that I suddenly recalled are sausage( spegepølse) and Gammel Dansk. Both things are smuggled in to this coutnry right and left from Denmark. I have once been stopped in the custom over here with 2 spegepølser( they were both taken away and I had to pay a fee)

 Really?! You must have been here in a good year then:p No, seriously... May and June are usually good months and then comes July and rain and in August it gets really hot! At least for Danish standards:p They are actually going to move the school summer vacation so that you don't go back before late August and not like now in early August. This doesn't count for universities though. They start in September.

I have also heard that ppl gather outside the palace in Copenhagen(I'm to tired to remember the name of it) on the queens birthday and say " Kære dronning kom nu frem, ellers går vi aldrig hjem" and then she comes out to the balcony and waves.
