http://www.shaniaforums.com/frown.gif we just lost http://www.shaniaforums.com/frown.gif it has been the longest and hard match i´ve seen in my life we lost in the penalty round after the match finish 1-1 and then 30 minutes more so finally was the penalties and we lost ,well we were first in the score and we were first in the penalties but this is the football finally we lost LIKE ALWAYS i know that i´m in a loser team and sure never i´m going to see them winning a spanish league (we always are 2) or a champions league( the last 2 years we were 2) yeah i know that to loose a final you have been in there and you tell me ohhh come on maybe next time.....BELIVE ME IT´S NOT GOING TO BE A NEXT TIME CAUSE VALENCIA IS A GOOD TEAM BUT IS NOT A R.MADRID,BARCELONA,BAYER,MANCHESTER,LIVERPOOL,MILA N,AJAX AND OTHER WE HAS LOOSEN OUR ONLY CHANCE TO WIN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

I guess I was one of the people who wanted Bayern to win. I saw the final 2 years ago, I hated German teams up until then, but I found it very unfair and I thought they deserved to win. But I would have wanted them to do it another way, like win 3-0 or something, rather than do it at penalties as they did. I wanted Bayern to win, but I didn’t want Valencia to lose. I can’t even imagine how a player can feel after “eating the ground” for 2 years in a roll against the best in the world for 80 games per year and come so close. I always hated penalties, I thought they are the most unfair thing in football. 30 years ago they used to replay the games that ended in a draw, but because of the tied schedule and other interests they invented this rule. Funny thing that I feel right now the same thing I felt in ’99 when Bayern lost. The problem is that you’re right, I don’t see Valencia getting back up there again. As I heard tonight Mendieta has a pre-contract signed with AC Milan, the defenders are too old, Cuper is leaving for Barcelona, etc. The way the Champions League is designed right now there is no room for error or accident. If you are not as strong as others you may get a chance and defeat a stronger team, but you may not get the same luck in the next round. So basically in this system only the best teams win. This is perfect in theory, but as we all know the best are the ones with the most money. And that makes it terribly unfair to everyone but those 5-7 strongest clubs in Europe. Valencia will never have the money to buy a Figo for 60 million $ as Real did, they don’t cost 1 billion $ as Man.Utd. do. The only way you can do it is to build a team for a few years of relatively unknown players, get a good coach and make them play together and you may get a chance. That’s what Valencia did and they went so far. It’s very hard to do the same. Usually after you’ve reached the peak you can’t afford to keep those players in your own back yard and you have to sell them and the team breaks up. The only teams in the past 5 years that were able to go that far were Ajax, Valencia, Dinamo Kiev and maybe Rosemborg. And they sold key players, others didn’t want to stay because they knew it’s all downhill from then on, so that was the end of it. But what Valencia did was so remarkable because they got back up there even after losing Claudio Lopez(which I don’t know why left for Italy, that is career suicide). It will be hard for them to get back up now, I don’t think they’ll do it, but it’s not impossible. If they get some good players and a competent coach, sell what they don’t need for good money, they may still hold the momentum and maybe create a new wonder in the next season. But it is imperative they qualify for the Champions League, as I understand Barcelona if breathing on their necks. I would really want them to thrash Barca in that direct match, I hate that team with so much money and so many good players, but all individualities and egos, not capable of playing something decent when they really need to. So good luck and don’t lose your hope. What you gained in the past few years is tradition, the acknowledgement of the fact that any Valencia team can play and beat any team in the world, not because of luck, but because of value. Valencia will not be seen from now on as “just a team from Spain” but a very serious club with very serious capabilities. And that will be an enormous help in the future, many great players would want to play for the club, the opponents will respect you more than ever. So I hope you can stay on top in the next period, not fall down like Atletico Madrid did, and the day of the rebirth will start to show again. Did you think 5 years ago that you will play 2 consecutive finals? If you would have told that to Manolo he would have eaten his drum. So you never know what the future holds.

By the way, if I’m correct if a game is decided at penalties, the official result is a draw, so Valencia did not lose last night. So don’t say you are a team of losers, it was nothing more than bad luck. Bayern had bad luck, and it all changed. Don’t dare to think that cannot happen to you. You may never know what can be worse, things are so complex and are being done in mysterious ways.

Funny...I started writing this with total pessimism and now I’m the great optimist. That’s a new one, usually is the other way around. Let’s call it therapy.

PS: you should built a statue for Canizares!!! This way you will honor him and also not have any problems with the hair color.

Loosing a match, doesn't a looser. Micheal Jordan, the greatest basketball player, has lost many games, he's missed many game winning shots (turned out to be loosing shots), Micheal Jordan is no looser.

I find in life, that the journey is what it's all about, not the destination. For Valencia to have gone this far, twice, makes them winners. Something has to be said for consistency. The finals two years in a row; over that period of time that's better than what Bayern or last years winner did.
