The Province of Alberta is giving every man, woman and child in this province 400 dollars. Its all from another giant surplus from the province's huge oil winfall. I personally think the money could be better spent diversifying this province's econamy. I think this province should invest in moving us away from the dependence on oil. Whats this province going to too when no one uses oil anymore.
Agree completely.
Environmentally oil does us no good and the quicker something is done about replacing it the better.

Specially considering that as a boilermaker there would be lots of work. Someones gonna have too put all those eviromental controls in place and thats boilermaker work. I get to help the eviroment and make a big pile of money, where do I sign. :p Plus it would be nice to have a season where the weather wasn't always so screwy.
Be happy Alberta is able to have a surplus and give you free money. The USA's national debt is getting out of control and I highly doubt we'll ever get any free money.

Be you kidding, this province was able too absorb a masive hit by BSE on the cattle industry in this province, we lost tens of billions of dollors and still came up with surplusses of 10 Billion dollors during those years. I have too say that impressed me alot.
I've heard talk of the Feds doing it too, to compensate for high energy prices.
It also helps we are not fighting a war thats like a black hole of money. Plus the hurricanes didn't help things any.
Things are so crazy here...a war that should not have been engaged, major hurricanes...massive spending all along the board. The economy here in Michigan is terrible.

Yeah that can't be good on the nations moral either. I know that even though we were able too take the BSE hit pretty good finacially. It was a major blow on this province, I think people figured it tarnished this Provinces Cowboy image alittle bit.... or maybe alot.
Kinda like what happned in New Orleans with the problems getting aid to the people kinda tarnished the image that stuff like that couldn't happen in the U.S.
I fear the direction that the USA is going in. The Bush admin. has been terrible. One thing out of this I have learned is that I need to register to vote to keep jerks like that out of office. I'm glad to see Alberta beef crossing the border once again...a move that is good for both our countries.

For a good Econamy on either side of the border. The main reason for wealth for over this last century has been because of good trade between our border. More goods and service's travel along that border than anywhere else on this planet.
I can kinda imagine the effects of the hurricane on Gulf coast on the economy and the moral of the people. They don't call Alberta "Little Texas" for nothing. If Calgary is the Canadian Dallas I guess that make Edmonton our Houston. I can totally imagine the effect it would have on this city. In 1987 it almost happened when a Tornado hit the east end of the city and nearly hit the refinery's here.
(Both had pro sports teams named the Oilers, I miss the Houston ones alittle.)
( We both almost lost both those Oiler teams too Nashville the same year, Edmonton managed to keep their Oilers though. )
