COLUMBUS, Ohio - Abercrombie & Fitch has been the target of criticism in the past for its T-shirt slogans and advertising campaigns, but this time it has upset a portion of its prime audience — teenage girls.

Some girls are mad at the retailer based in suburban New Albany over T-shirts for women emblazoned with sayings such as "Who needs brains when you have these?" and "I had a nightmare I was a brunette."

A protest that began in Pennsylvania by a group of girls funded by the Allegheny County Girls as Grantmakers, an organization that supports women's issues, is starting to spread across the country.

"I don't like them because they're degrading," Elizabeth Ritter, 20, and Ohio State University student, said of the shirts. "I don't know why they sell them and I won't wear one."

Abercrombie said in a statement, "These particular T-shirts have been very popular among adult women to whom they are marketed."

That really makes me sad...especially all that stuff about brunettes. I'm a brunette and I love my hair colour...it's deep chocolate brown with natural reddish high-lights.:mad::nono:

I don't like these shirts. They are demeaning and sexist.
