I have a question about The Outlaws-Playin' To Win
record which "Mutt" Lange produced in 1978.
Does anybody why Mutt lange got a co-credit
for the song "If Dreams Came True"?
What was his role in writing this song?
Which parts did he wrote, which parts the late Billy Jones?
Does Mutt have an official website?
Btw, The Outlaws reformed this year and have been touring since May.

Mutt Lange doesn't have an official site.
Mutt Lange is not only a producer, but a songwriter too, so if he participated in any ways in the writing of this song, he should get credit for it.
As for credits on the song - or any other song as a matter of fact with multipe songwriters -, the credit is contractual between the writers, determinig the percentage of royalties based on their part. Most of the time it doesn't get revealed.
So if the late Billy Jones did not mentioned anything about or the band-members, there is no way to know such detail.

Thanks for Your answer, bambas!
I wasn't interested in the percentage of royalties and other music business related issues, as it is none of my business.
I was interested in the artistic aspect, i.e. songwriting of "If Dreams Came True" and if (parts of) the songwriting process began before Billy Jones met Mutt Lange.
I guess Arista thought this was a song with mass appeal as it was released also on a promotional 12 " LP specially prepared for album radio. Side 2 was an edited version of "You Are The Show".
Have You listened to the album?

the artistic aspect is very much related to the royalties too.
The fact the writing process started doesn't mean anything unless you can compare the original song (lyrics andf music) to the one was released.
Generally it's never revealed which line was written by this or that....
That's how it's goes.
Of course after years when a pair of people writing together like Elton John with Taupie or Beatles there is more information as how it goes, or it's like one writes the lyrics only the other the music only, but generally it's rarely stated who had written which part.
No I don't listen to their music.

Mutt is so private person that it is most unlikely you will never find out details like this. The only times we have heard any such stories, it came from the other party. And since it's impossible in this case - hmmm - never.
Besides he has worked with so many artists and writers that maybe he doesn't remember all the details... Even if he wanted to tell :D ?!? Poor OLD guy, eh?!
