Why can't we have graphics in our signatures if we use our own servers to host the graphics on?

Because forums with image signatures are lame. You don't want this place to end up looking like a Pokémon forum, do you?

Even if there wasn't that, it adds to the load time of threads, and would be a big headache for our dial-up and slower connection members.

...I have broadband but I have the siggie and avatar view options disabled simply because they slow me down viewing the forums especially with all the pop up ads that we have to contend with every time we move from page to page here....

Yep I guess it's the loading time etc.. the forums would become really slow and for those who use dial-up it will take an hour to load :rolleyes:

I like it the way it is now... I visit some forums where you can have pics in your signature and sometimes it takes forever for the page to load.... And then when it does the pics don't fit the page size:rolleyes:

Pictures in signatures are not allowed, and right now there are no plans in allowing it.

One simple example, many would host their pictures in Photobucket and it's down quite a lot, and all pages would never finish loading because they would be looking for the image. Seen that happen on a lot of messageboards.
That is just one example, there are many more reasons also.

..actually since I now browse without seeing avatars or siggies and have done so for some time to speed movement here I do not really miss them..if I am curious all I need do is click on the member and get their profile up and voila there is there siggie and avatar..I do that with Sean some cuz he changes them like his underwear and they are interesting to observe as they flit by daily subject to his vicarious whimsies..;)

there is always annoying kids who have huge sized pics (file-wise and length/width-wise)....those are the boards where I have to disable the signature feature. I'm glad we do not have that problem :D

I'm with you on that! I don't mind a small pic or a little banner of some sort but some people take the mick.
I've grown to prefare the text approach on here (all though I have pic sigs on other boards :p) it leaves the focus on the posts and leaves the place looking tidy.

Ah I agree there I like it here cuz we don't have to have pic's in siggys and avvies aswell. I go to a forum where there are pic's in their siggys and sometimes it's a real pain in the butt. So I say no to images in our siggys.
