BILLY CURRINGTON HUNTS FOR A WAY TO HELP OTHERS
Add Billy Currington to the list of country stars who want to give back after achieving success. Billy's currently enjoying his first No. 1 song with "Must Be Doin' Something Right"--and now he wants to spread his happiness around. "I’ve been thinking about this a lot," Billy tells X Radio. "Finding some land...and starting a hunting camp for kids. When I was younger I didn’t get to go hunting because I didn’t really have a dad around that hunted or would even take me hunting or whatever, so I missed out on a lot of years that I could have learned how to hunt and all the things about it. And maybe [I'd] find some people that you can hire or whatever to help when I’m gone, but you know, be the person that starts it. And kids that don’t have dads, or kids that have been in trouble, you know, take ‘em hunting on a Saturday.”
Billy says that many of his music buddies have suggested that when it comes time to put his plan into action that he might what to call rocker Ted Nugent for some advice. “Man, I’ve heard a lot about that guy and his passion for hunting. He would be a great guy to get some insight from, we could figure this camp out together. Now all I need is a few more hits under my belt and maybe he’ll take my call!” laughs Billy.
