Waltzing with Oscar
-- Dolly Parton perform's her Oscar nominated song "Travelin' Thru" from the film, Transamerica, during Sunday night's 78th Annual Academy Awards telecast, on ABC.
Dolly penned the tune for the movie, which is about a transgendered woman who discovers she sired a son as a man.

Will she go home with an Oscar? Don't know. Don't care.

Okay by me, if following her performance, Dolly rips off her wig and confesses that she used to be Porter Wagoner -- I'm passing on this year's Oscars and watching my "Old Yeller" DVD.

I am glad Goblet of Fire was nominated for Art Direction.(visual effects of course not oh well) I hope Kong wins big and Brokeback Mountain because if it wins a big award more homophbic people might just see this movie and not judge it on that.

Just the fact of the nomiantion is huge even if it doesn't win more people will give it a chance and not hate a person because of who they love.

If Clooney's wins an Oscar it won't be as golden as what he's already got. IMO

That new rule they have for best song is silly. What if only ONE song reaches the 8.25 average..?

I liked the song & performance of "IN THE DEEP" FROM CRASH - music by Kathleen "Bird" York and Michael Becker; Lyric by Kathleen "Bird" York - the most. Dolly did a GREAT performance, but I didn't care much for the song. The song that won was... hmm... not my cup of tea at all...

...and Jon Stewart was pretty good too: (just a bit toned down from his own show)

http://us.ent10.yimg.com/img.movies.yahoo.com//movies/us/img/oscars/gallery/357506801_7369261411.jpg

"The Oscars is really I guess the one night of the year when you can see all your favorite stars without having to donate any money to the Democratic Party. And it's exciting for the stars as well because it's the first time many of you have ever voted for a winner."

"I do have some sad news to report. Bjork could not be here. She was trying on her Oscars dress and Dick Cheney shot her."

"Capote, of course, addressed very similar themes to Good Night and Good Luck. Both films are about determined journalists defying obstacles in a relentless pursuit of the truth. Needless to say, both are period pieces."

"A lot of people say that this town is too liberal, out of touch with mainstream America, an atheistic pleasure dome, a modern-day, beachfront Sodom and Gomorrah, a moral black hole where innocence is obliterated in an endless orgy of sexual gratification and greed. I don't really have a joke here. I just thought you should know a lot of people are saying that."

But Hollywood and its excesses took plenty of gentle ribbing.

Mentioning that box office receipts in 2005 were down from the year before, while studios continued to fight copyright infringement, he launched into a brief tirade against the economic consequences of movie piracy.

"There are women here who could barely afford enough gown to cover their breasts," he shouted at the camera in mock indignation.

Saluting director Steven Spielberg for his Oscar-winning Holocaust drama and a newly nominated film about the slaying of Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympics, Stewart quipped: "'Schindler's List' and 'Munich.' I think I speak for all Jews when I say I can't wait to see what happens to us next."

Turning his attention to triple nominee, self-acknowledged ladies' man George Clooney, Stewart joked that the title of Clooney's film about newsman Edward R. Murrow, "Good Night, and Good Luck," was "not only the sign-off of Mr. Murrow, it's also how Mr. Clooney ends all his dates."

And in a reference to the gay themes prevalent in "Brokeback Mountain" and "Capote," two of this year's most nominated films, Stewart said "'Capote' broke taboos because it showed America that not all gay people are virile cowboys. Some are actually effete New York intellectuals."

Stewart returned to some political jabs as the evening wore on, asking the cameras to point to a huge statue of the Oscar image above the stage. And, in obvious reference to the toppling of the statue of Saddam Hussein in the days after the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, he said, "Do you think if we all got together and pulled this down, democracy would flourish in Hollywood?"

the physical characteristics only.

John - :pBeing that my mom is a boilermaker and when at a time there was only two of them, kinda know what the movies about already. Except when they said North Country, I thought they were talking about Fort Mac. :p She's been laid off of jobs just because of the fact she was a woman. Once she was told, "Women shouldn't be in the trades." Flat out and right too her face. I get to be the guy that says, I followed my mother into a trade, not alot guys can say that. :D

Over the years she's earned alot of respect. Every job I've been on I get strangers come up to me and say, aren't you Pat Reilly's son? Then they talk about how hard she works and what a good worker she is. I've been told once the only reason he talked to me was because of my mother, otherwise he wouldn't talk to apprentice's. Most guys now will tell you a woman makes a better welder, because of their hand eye Coordination. They will in the Boilermakers atleast, I don't know about other trades.

Jessica Alba could look beautiful in whatever omg she is just knock out (coming from a gay guy) and I think Nicole Kidmann always looks good in what she wears she has good taste. I like the fact that she is so fair skinned.
