I wasn't too happy. I understand Mariah not taking home all 8 but Record of the Year should have been hers. "We Belong Together" is the biggest song of all-time! That sucks.

I was really happy for Kelly Clarkson and Keith Urban though.:)

I was happy and pleasantly surprised by two things:

1. Kelly Clarkson won 2 awards.

2. Kanye West and Mariah Carey didn't sweep. [I don't care for either of them and I think their EGOS are larger than their talent at this point.]

The rest of the winners prove one thing: The Grammys love repeat winners.

U2, Alison Krauss/Union Station, Faith Hill/Tim McGraw, etc.

It seems all of them get [I]at least one trophy every year, no matter if they deserve them or not.

U2 has gotten 15 Grammys for just their past 2 cds!

Alison Krauss now has over 20 Grammys for her career!

Faith Hill could sneeze at this point and get a Grammy for it! Even her screeching on "Cry" got her a Female Country Vocal Performance Grammy. A duet with Tim automatically gets her at least one trophy.

Interesting notes: Both Paul McCartney and Gwen Stefani were shut out at the Grammys.

All 5 of Gwen's categories were presented on-air. She lost in all of them.

Paul performed twice on the show.

I am so glad Kanye West did not win more awards than he did! I hate him! And I'm very glad Tim and Faith won!

I was happy and pleasantly surprised by two things:

1. Kelly Clarkson won 2 awards. [I feel she's the most talented "Idol" winner.]

2. Kanye West and Mariah Carey didn't sweep. [I don't care for either of them and I think their EGOS are larger than their talent at this point.]

I understand Mariah not sweeping the awards, although I thought she deserved Record, Song, and Album, but the only General award she has ever won is Best New Artist. Even when her FIRST breakthrough album, Daydream, was huge and "One Sweet Day" was the biggest song of all-time she did not win one Grammy. I thought she should have gone home with 7 tonight- not just because she deserves it but because the Grammy's have not given her her due. The only one I didn't think she should have won was Pop Female Vocal which I wanted Kelly Clarkson to win.

Mariah has an amazing multi-octave voice.
She writes her own songs.
She's had 17 Billboard Hot 100 #1 singles - tied with Elvis.
She has the 2 biggest songs of all-time: 1. We Belong Togther 2. One Sweet Day
She's sold well over 100 million albums.
All this and until tonight only had 2 Grammys from 16 years ago.

I guess I got off on my soapbox on that subject, lol.:)

Thanks for the list. I'm a country fan, so I'm happy for Alison Krauss, Rascal Flatts, and of course, Keith Urban(He's a cutie! ) But the Dixie Chicks are my favorite group, and I'm really sad that they didn't win at least one of the things they were nominated for. :hide:

Congrats to all of you whose favorites won, :D:music: and I'm sorry to those of you whose favorites lost. :( :furious: But, like all the people who lose say, it's an honor just to be nominated! :p

SHOCK: 'IDOL' AMATEURS BEAT 'GRAMMY' PROS IN RATINGS

Thu Feb 09 2006 09:01:52 ET

How 100+ wannabes Outrated Madonna, U2, Kanye

The music business suffered another embarrassment Wednesday night -- when AMERICAN IDOL's Hollywood cattle call drew a larger audience than THE GRAMMY AWARDS!

The amateur pop contest was easily the top-rated show of the night, NIELSEN claimed, with a 17.4 rating/26 share to GRAMMY's 12.3 rating/19 share.

In direct competition at 8 pm ET, IDOL hit 27 share to GRAMMY's 16 share.

[The industry's top music awards slipped from 2005 levels [12.3/19 vs. 13.2/20] early numbers show.]

With IDOL, FOX won the night over CBS: 12.7 rating/18 share to 12.5/18.

'Idol' trumps Grammys in Wed. ratings

The pros on display during Wednesday's Grammy Awards telecast were no match for the amateurs competing on Fox's "American Idol." CBS' live 8-11 p.m. Grammy Awards coverage averaged 17.6 million viewers and 7.3 rating/18 share in the adults 18-49 demographic in primetime, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. The 8 p.m. edition of "Idol," by contrast, reeled in 28.3 million viewers and 11.3/28 in the key demo, which allowed Fox to claim the nightly victory in both viewers (20.5 million) and adults 18-49 (8.1/19). Wednesday's Grammycast, which crowned veteran rockers U2 as kings of the music biz with five big wins, was off by more than 1 million viewers and nearly a full point in the demo derby compared to last year's telecast. U2
Too many awards imo, and they sang Vertigo last year too!

U2 performed Sometimes... last year ;) . So happy for them. Def the most deserving. How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb is amazing (!!!) and definately a great way to make up the 22 Grammy's they've won. So glad Mariah didn't steal any off them. Disappointed in Macca though. He's my fave person ever and he didn't win a thing. Plus, I didn't really like his performance of Helter Skelter. :(

Here is my review...

Go KELLY!!!! :) I am glad she got her awards she's so cute. I also enjoyed her preformance :) I'm also glad U2 won. There is one preformance didn't particurly enjoy was Mariah's. Other than that it was a good night though.

Carley

P.S. I agree with Tilliepie about Shania not getting nominated and Coldplay not winning an award.
