Every once and awhile I hear talk about the NHL going to Europe. The thing knocking that idea is travel, that'd it would be to expensive for teams to travel back and forth. How come they can't do it like baseball, have a European champ play a North American champ for the Stanely Cup like the World Series. Have two seperate leagues and the champions would then play for the cup. Thats how I'd do it aleast, that way travel expense and that wouldn't be so much.
Wonderful idea, Sean. But are the Europeans willing to pay millions of dollars per player per year to support the idea? If not, the European players will continue to flock over here to play. Also without the European players the quality of the hockey would be too diluted over here unless they got rid of a lot of franchises - actually not a bad idea. Not many in the southern USA give a rat's a$$ anyway about hockey.

I don't know about supporting the team, I kinda figured it wouldn't be any worse than what small markets do over here. Besides the bigger European markets, like London or Berlin and such would have some advertising dollors to throw around. I guess you'd be right about the dilution of talent, I mean the NHL is diluted enough as is. I guess there wouldn't be enough talent to sustain two leagues like that. But if they did move into Europe that might convince young people to play hockey which would be a another supply of talent.
